Hey guys,

Yes the release was a bit later than expected, for this I do apologize.

With that being said we are planning to release the board next week. In fact some review sites already have it in hands :) Check it out:

Just messing with ya Jacob.  I'm really glad to hear the news.  When it does show up on the product page, I'll be buying one.  And when it arrives in at my door, I'm putting it straight to work.

Yep, Jacob said it would be over $150 so that would be about right. Expect a rebate though for launch probably

Re:EVGA Mini-ITX Z77 2012/11/14 17:04:15 (permalink)
Gomiboy

Besides being an EVGA motherboard (Which comes with an awesome RMA process), what is the actual difference between (Specs) :

EVGA Stinger

Asus P8Z77-I

Asrock Z77E-ITX

Currently using the Asrock Z77E-ITX myself, 3770K @ 5.1 Ghz (Watercooled) and G.Skill TridentX 2666Mhz memory. So just wondering if it would be worth it to make a switch.

Is the difference between these motherboards really just the brand and socket placement ? (And the VRM board on the ASUS).

Basically, other than layout and BIOS and features, which those play a big role, are the power phases.

The ASRock has a 6+2 Power Phase.

The ASUS has a 8+2 Power Phase.

The EVGA has a 7+1 Power Phase.

From reviews and overclockers, unless you are going L2N and getting extreme, you wont need more than the ASRock 6 Phase for the CPU, as it will reach higher than watercooling can get you.  The only reason you would want more Power Phases is for example giving you the posibility to keep a cpu OC at a lower voltage. Which could result in lower temps, but its going to be very minimal what you are going to get going from 6 to 7 or to 8 phases.  Its more about the quality, which all these seem to excel at.

Also, in case you dont understand, the X+X number breaks down to, the first number is phases for the CPU, and the second number is for the IGPU.  Which depending on the features, you can OC the IGPU and use it in conjunction with a dedicated card and actually make use of the IGPU. Its supposed to make GPU processing better, but I have never tried, so the IGPU could be important in that aspect. I think it was more targetted at low end economy graphics cards.

So having said that, and this is my opinion only, It wouldnt be worth it to move to another board, unless you want it for the warranty or because you just have to have an EVGA board. If I do a second M-ITX build, I would consider it just for that reason.  But AsRock Warranty is pretty good, they just take longer to respond, and Asus has free cross shipping and stuff now too, so they are also good. But I like talking to Americans and having the option of making a phone call to an American as I can understand them better.  Just a personal preference.

But I am not sure if any of you are aware I may be getting this for my next smaller than M-ITX build, cuz I am only currently in need of small PCs that would be basically used as a KIOSK and terminals for my security cameras.
Here is a LINK to them.

I am now feel as if this board is coming out 2 weeks too late. Could have really used the extra folding power for CST on the TZC.  Oh well, there is always March Maddness next year.  Still buying one either way.

Man, how is it that the sales guys @ evga have no idea when this will be coming out? I am getting really tired of coming back to this site like some kind of a demented junky hoping I catch it while it is available.

Yep, saw the the Stinger on the product page.  Added myself to the auto-notify so I don't miss it.  Seems like a routine for me, check product page first and then check the forums for any new news.

Only took seven months.

Which one of you will make a ModsRigs first with it?

Current rig i7 920 of to 3.6ghz
Gtx 570
Micro atx x58
Samsung 800 series ssd and 8 GB RAM

Question for you all is it worth upgrading to this board to get pcie 3.0 and sata 6?
Primary use is gaming and internet.

If so, what is best processor for it and what case? Probably just air cool cause I'm not big into oc. Thanks
