Disabling the radiator fan isn't recommended, but you can swap it with any standard 120mm fan that you choose. Keep in mind that for pushing air into a radiator, static pressure is generally the favoured stat over airflow.

Thanks for the reply.

I throttled the radiator fan from 12v to 7v and now it is very quite. Is this dangerous? The temps are the same.

As long as you're in a temperature-controlled environment, and the temps aren't spiking, you should be fine.

I've attached the fan to one of my motherboard headers and it's running at about 60% in idle.

Hi,

I'm thinking to buy the EVGA Hybrid Kit for my GTX 980. Although I asking at those who already have the card, how is the loudness level at IDLE? I've a Fractal Design R4 (at 1m distance) and I need an absolute silent PC at Idle because I work with that. Will the pump or the fan of the Hybrid Kit let me reach this? Opinions are welcome. Cheers.

I have the same case and I can say it's loud at idle. Both fan and pump. Not very loud but definitely louder than Nvidia's reference NVTTM at 22-30%.

I have repleced the stock fan with two SP120s (quiet edition). Also, I have connented the pump directly to the motherboard to reduce its speed in bios (voltage-based fan speed control). When you reduce pump speed, the fan slows down too (they use the same power source). It is absolutely silent now when the case is closed.

But such modification may reduce a lifespan of a pump. I'm not sure about that but it is possible. For example Corsair strongly recommends to not control pump speed in their liquid coolers (at least older ones: H55, H90 etc). On the other hand NZXT advertise variable pump speed as a feature. Both use Asetek designs, NZXT's are newer I believe.

I read of persons who say that the pump voltage should not be touched. Their argument: because of the temps and/or lifespan. But temps are the same also at 5v. Although, no one can explain why the lifespan of the pump may be reduced.

How can I check if the voltage (5v) is good? From the temps?

Nope, just some Corsair support guy told me that pump is designed to run at full speed only (12V +/- 5%) and lowering a voltage may reduce its lifespan. But I did it anyway and works fine for at least half a year (H55 & H90).

How can I check if the voltage (5v) is good? From the temps?

Yes but at 5v stock fan connected directly to pump may not start (but it should,; its starting voltage is between 4v and 5v if my memory serves me well).

st Mine is very quiet after a day or so as runnign aswell.. not that it was bad from the start :)

You can indeed hook the fan to your mb and make a custom curve for it :) Or if you so choose, like I may do in the future, replace the fan with a noctua redux that will give you better air flow and be even more silent.

the buzz sound of the pump is always there. It is quite, but it is there and I can hear that. Is that normal or not? I need it to be silent.

Mine did that.  I put my case on its side for a day or so, so where the tubes go into the radiator they were on bottom and did a bunch of heaven runs and just using it...I turned it on its side because of the way i have the radiator mounted that was the only way to get it in that position.  Read people doing it.  Anyway, I don't have any buzzing any longer.  Although mine was more like a churp sound so it could be something different.  Maybe it just goes away after usage though, not sure.

On idle it's louder than the stock cooler or ACX cooler. Also depending on your case it might cause your case panels to vibrate at it's resonant frequency which will add a significant amount of noise. But on full load it's the quietest cooler. So it's a tradeoff issue. As far as noise the main contributor is the pump and the vibrations it adds to your case, not the fans, so replacing the fans won't do much for baseline idle noise.

It is not the resonant frequency: it is just the buzzing or grinding pump. The sound is really quite, true, but it is obtrusive (like an auto alarm). I love the card when on full load..

Have you thought about doing a Real Water Loop so that you have your Silence where you need it?
Turning OFF your Pump is not a Good Idea, that is like removing your CPU Cooler and then Overclocking it.
Per your Text in your Video.

Without having to take the card apart again, is the pump cable compatible with a 4-pin header on a motherboard?  It seems like a simple fix if so.  I also have pump noise - its not what I would call loud but definitely noticeable whereas the stock cooler wasn't.

I use the pc for to work and that noise is disturbing :(

Edit: I think, the pump is now quite silent, but the fan isn't: Can I just try to deactivate the radiator-fan? Or is this dangerous?

Did the pump just get quiet over time or did you do something?

I have a Titan X Superclocked and in idle is barely audible. When the psu is in pasive mode i dont hear anything at all but i have a good case anyway. Full load is another thing...

Connect it to the motherboard and lower its RPM. Disconnecting it = no cooling at all.
