This has happened in 4 games (MGSV, BF4, RocketLeague, Rust) when I have put FSAA to 4x or above. HOPEFULLY this can be solved with a future driver... Or i'll try my best to buy a different brand, maybe MSI or Asus? Apart from this dissapointing issue, the card runs great, temps are always 40c-70c (high loads) running at 1080p. I've tried 2k and no AA, but I get some drop in frames, thus why I like to do 1080p and FSAA. To keep things a constant 60fps.
Drivers all latest.

Maybe it's not the drivers. Maybe your card is unstable. Have you tried underclocking the card? If not, try -105 on the core & memory. Then try playing with the AA at 16x while the card is underclocked.

There's now a setting in the Nvidia Control Panel called "Debug Mode" that will automatically set factory overclocked cards to reference speeds. I've got a FAQ here explaining how to use it: http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=59594 Just to be sure, you get no crashes if you run 2x FXAA, or no AA at all? How about different levels of MSAA, or DSR, do they cause crashes as well?

I havent had any crashes on 2x, it seems like it's purely related to AA. the card is factory settings, you still think I should underclock?
i've launched a ticket with EVGA anyways, see how itgoes...

card was at 90's then dropped to 80% load just before the crash and at 74c, this was an hour into game, other times it happens within minutes, cant do the underclock it says I have a reference model card, this option will be grayed out. :/ oh forgot to add, games optimized on nvidia game experience, could this be a problem? its pushing the card beyond? (although games like rocket league still crashed using ingame AA set to x16, this was way before i installed game exp) more card stats Part Number: 04G-P4-2972-KR Description: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0 Place Purchased: PLE Computers Date Purchased: 08/31/2015 Date Registered: 9/1/2015 6:52:20 PM

You can use msi afterburner or evga precision x to underclock the core & memory by -105. The reason debug mode isn't working for you is because your card runs at reference clocks at default settings. Yes, geforce expereince is junk uninstall it asap. Since you optimized your games with geforce expereince I would recommend that you delete the game .cfg files and let them rebuild on the next launch of the game then manually adjust your settings inside the game options menu.

I concur with Saijin, you could be getting an AA conflict between what GFE is setting in game vs. the Nivida Control Panel. And sorry about the debug mode, I thought you had a Superclocked model for some reason.

I will try underclocking by -105% and uninstalling nvidia experience. I've also tried boosting the fans up abit in precision x.
Been doing a lot of searching seems ALOT of people have had similar problems since start of 2015 with this card on new games... This is pretty bad on EVGA's behalf or nvidia?
Some people blame psu can't handle the 970 power spikes
Some say it's solved underclocking (which I think is disappointing )
Some say old drivers helped
Huge mystery

okay got a bit of advice from EVGA support. done the following... will game extensively tonight and see how it goes...
updated firmware of card. uninstalled nvidia experience. installed a windows update (advised from EVGA tech) underclocked -105 memory and CPU Clock speeds from card. set priority in precision x to 80c temp instead of 100% power.

it has made my system crash again! this time was playing rust at a nice 60fps or around there, just at max settings via ingame rust menu, seems the game was at 99% load for a while on the GPU then the crash. im gonna try my best to return the card and buy MSI or another brand, since i see this is a regular problem with this card in these forums, but i hardly see it with other brands

EVGA support ticket is useless as well, typical run of the mill reply with things to do etc. no real fix at the moment.

I see in the ticket you sent in that you didn't mention any prior troubleshooting in your ticket, nor did you mention this thread at all, so the tech proceeded with some general troubleshooting suggestions. If none of his suggestions have helped either, it sounds like it's time for an RMA. I've gone ahead and set up a ticket for you though so you can start an RMA on the card. Please understand that this is a generic problem that's not specific to any card, and can happen with any make, model, or manufacturer of video card. We are here to assist you with issues such as these. To begin your RMA, just go here: http://au.evga.com/support/rma.asp

ive noticed one thing thats been the same during all my crashes, its ALWAYS around 70-74c even if the cards at 50% load or whatever.
Jaeson I would prefer to return the card to my original place of purchase and exchange for another brand. I dont want to get a replacement of the same card and have to underclock, manually set fan speeds, nor deal with the ACX cooler which I dont trust one bit. etc. again. If its a factory overclock problem im happy to downgrade to a non OC'd version.

even if I send in the card via RMA, what can I do in the days waiting for a replacement? nothing?! I live in australia so would probably take 2 weeks.

You are more than welcome to return it to the place of purchase if you wish, that's no problem at all. If for any reason they won't or can't assist you, the ticket will still be available to start an RMA with is you need.

First Off, are you using the latest intel inf drivers for the chipset ? or the ones that msi recommends to use with the board? Are you running an overclock or have some auto overclock feature turned on for your cpu ? Make sure to disable any cpu overclocking.

Can you check the card in another computer and try and get it to crash the same way ? Trying to help out if it is something besides the card, you might very well get another card and have the same exact issue.
