I installed the card, DDU, updated drivers, installed precision, flashed the XOC lol

Didn’t run stock bios for more than like 10 minutes lol

I guess what I meant to ask is, is there a special XOC Bios specifically for the Hybrid Kit or will the XOC Bios for the FTW work?

Yeah it’s in the same thread. Third linked BIOS

I ordered the hybrid kit for my 3090 XC3 which arrives tomorrow. Should I just use the thermal paste that's pre-applied to the AiO cold plate or should I use some Coolaboratory liquid metal that I have? Turns out I'm all out of Kryonaut and wouldn't be able get any shipped here until next Monday at the earliest (and I just don't want to wait that long). I know that it's conductive and I'd have to be very careful not to get it on any SMD's or other components, but would I be better off long term just using the pre-applied paste or should I go for the gusto and use liquid metal? Thanks in advance

Finally did good.

After months of yapping I finally bought an Ampere card.  Figure the 3080 Ti is vaporware at this point.  Did pretty good with 2 day shipping, associate code and 30 EVGA bucks.  Got the purchase notification about an hour and a half after signing up for notify, but debated all afternoon about actually getting it.  Now I just need a new case and CLC280, will do a system rebuild next week.  Might sell my 2080 Ti Hybrid.

LOL!  Aquacomputer makes integrated pump/rads that you can just plumb right onto a GPU or CPU block, problem is the cost for that and a block is going to run well over $400.

Gigabyte did a full coverage back on the plain 1080:

But to be using an actual waterblock? I think I've only seen from Bykski, and maybe Alphacool.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 and 3080 HYBRID/HC 2020/12/16 18:28:31 (permalink)
i got my 3090 hybrid ftw last wednesday.  installed it wed afternoon and pulled it by thursday afternoon for my old 1080.  the system kept shutting down under load.  an evga rep and i both agreed it could be the psu (seasonic 850 gold, first gen with the over volt tripping issue).
the new psu came in yesterday afternoon and i reinstalled it and the 3090, everything was good.  i benched the hell out of it and everything was stable.

today the system black screened while i was playing a game, and all the system fans spun up and stuck at 100%.  so i shut it down and restarted, and made some adjustments to my system.  just moved all the high powered things to seperate outlets to make sure i wasnt pulling too much juice at the wall, or from my UPS.

i fired it back up and the witcher 3 lasted about 1 min....  the system black screened again with an audible snap.   so i turned the computer back on to try and assess the damages.  i saw a quick flash of light from someplace in the back of the card and was then greeted with the red led on the far right pcie plug.

so ya... probably less than 48hrs of actual run time on the card and shes dead.

Sounds like Nvidia will probably announce the 3080 Ti at their January 12th event and it'll go on sale in Feb.

On the hybrid cards with the attached radiator...., is the pump located on the card or on the radiator?  I have always found that AIO cooling systems work best with the pump at the lowest point in the system.

With my case there is space for a dual fan radiator either on the bottom or the top of the case.  There is also space on the side panel  If the pump is on the radiator, I would mount the radiator on the bottom of the case.  If the pump is on the card, I would mount the radiator on the top of the case.

The pump is located on the card itself.  It's similarly setup like most CPU AIOs are.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 and 3080 HYBRID/HC 2020/12/16 19:53:05 (permalink)
My FTW3 hybrid KIT arrived. Install was easy but very time consuming, not in a bad way.. It just took 2 hours because the thermal pads and goop were everywhere and spread out to all nearby electronics so I wanted to clean off the PCB which was probably an hour on it's own.

One observation: on the backing plate 2 of the 4 thermal pads were not making contact as they came off easily and were smooth.

One Issue & Feedback for EVGA:  don't skimp on the backing plate and reuse the damaged and dirty pads.. include a strip of padding so we can lay a fresh one down. two of my pads were completely destroyed in removing the backing plate so now I have a ball of thermal padding, some dried out that I had to roll into little balls and put on each memory chip.  not happy with that over 11 cents in thermal padding.  c'mon man!! you shoulda given me the extra strip to do it right.

Net result:  for PWR & MEM temps card idles at 32c, GPU idles at 25c in a room where ambient is 24c. At load with fan around 50% my GPU temp hits 51c, If I back it down to Quiet or Stealth on the curve it hits 56c, after about an hour the room raised a few degrees and I saw 58c.

for OverClocking: On air I could do +120/+220 - anything else resulted in crashes.... with the hybrid kit I can do +220/+350 stable.  so a substantial gain and that's with 20c lower temps and much quieter fan speeds...  I think my memory increase is due to the poor thermal pad contact and I would think having thermal padding covering 5 sides of each MEM chip & VRM is hurting more than helping.

Conclusion: I'm very happy, and although I have more OC headroom, the reality is my max power draw is still only 420W to 440w so I don't know if I can do more, and my Port Royal scores didn't improve at all.. still 14,300 range... which I'm perfectly happy with.  the only issue I have remaining is that the card NEVER wakes up from sleep, hasn't ever once since the first day I got it...

EDIT:  Adding that I use 4 Noctua high static pressure fans in push/pull config instead of the stock EVGA kit fans.

Yeah we'll see, not holding my breath.  Bummer though that step-up doesn't usually offer hybrid cards.  I'm looking to move on a 55" or 65" gaming TV (120hz 4K VRR) during the post-christmas sales, so I'd like a HDMI 2.1 card on hand.  If it's worthwhile to upgrade again to a 3080 Ti Hybrid when it comes, so be it.

Nearly all AIOs have the pump mounted on the opposite end of things from the rad. CPU AIOs have the mounting block and mount on one end with the rad and fans on the other, and GPUs tend to have the pump built into the card with the rad at the end of the hoses. I've only seen a couple AIOs that have a pump in a different location...

Safe to say I may have finally won a silicone lottery on my 3090 FTW3 Hybrid!

I am able to maintain a constant 2150 Mhz at 1.0V with +1000 memory and max temp reaching 58 degrees....... this is after hours of gaming on CyberPunk and Control so I know everything is stable!

This card is insane. On the King Pin list as well, but I don’t think this card will be going anywhere!

Isn't the entire point of the Notify Me system so that people DO NOT have to watch the site & HOPE they get one before it disappears?  Doesn't this entirely defeat the purpose?  I can understand not wanting to have thousands of orders for a card that is limited per-batch, but come on, you could've done Elite only or SOMETHING to get this to people that actually intend to use it.

^ +1 literally this. I've jumped on all the wait lists and never got any notification at all. I do appreciate what EVGA is trying to do but feels like there just isn't enough production.

That's across the board though.

4K on an oled CX48. Power draw on Cyber punk peaks at 235, which I know isn’t correct as I did a thing online where I flashed with a diff bios and it allows it to pull more power but uses the baseline as 300 so that still gives me tons of headroom!

The HC cards have been delayed. Not much information as to why and when available. Im hoping soon though. The wait sucks.

Do a 3dmark stress test with port royal, timespy and firestrike.

From what I've heard it's due to a waterblock redesign
