I think at least one of those "loud pump" people so far has a faulty pump in their card for sure, based on just listening to his recording of it - he's working with eVGA to get the card RMAed (it literally sounds like his pump is grinding so that's definitely not normal pump sounds).
 
 



That would be me.  I've minimized the sound some what by shifting the way the tubes sit in the case but it still pop up from time to time.  I'll most likely RMA the card just to be sure.  Other than that noise, it is pretty quiet.  But it does hit 60ish on Cyberpunk like others have mentioned.

I was hitting 60C on cyberpunk as well after hours of gaming.  My 280x is kind of tight though and the front panel is really not great for a front rad set up so I took it off and temps went back to 55C which is what I was getting with Modern Warfare.

Shoot I would take the 60deg over the 83 deg I am hitting on Cyberpunk on the 3090 ftw3 ultra air cooled any day of the week.

The pump in the 3090 FTW Hybrid isn't loud. Even at full load the pump/radiator fans are still pretty quiet. Mine completely died four days after it arrived, but otherwise it performed well.




Damn that sucks, and not good to see, hopefully EVGA will take care of that.

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere else, but do I need to update the bios on a 3080 ftw3 when installing the hybrid conversion kit?  I am currently using the overclock bios posted in the forums.

Is the card shroud/cover on the Hybrids easy to remove?  It is very much lacking in the aRGB LED department, and when mounted vertically makes a huge black hole in the tower.  If it's easy to remove, might modify it to hold a few LED strips....

Any details on where we are on the "fix" to the cooling blocks for the Hydro Copper cards?
 
Are there 1000's of these cards sitting somewhere just waiting to have the revised block attached and then they will start going out the door?

Installed my 3090 FTW3 Hybrid (sku 3988) on the weekend. I still had my FTW3 air, so I thought I'd share the differences between the hybrid and the FTW3 air.
 
With the exception of #3, no overclocks just max power.

Yes but paste to heatsink is more efficient than pad to heatsink.

What kind of temps are people getting with their xc3 ultra hybrid? In cyberpunk I get to 60C after a few hours of playing. Had to remove my front cover to my 280x to get it back to 55C.


I am getting a solid 49C with my 3090 XC3 Ultra Hybrid after 4 hours of Cyberpunk. That's with a solid 1985 boost clock speed (that can go up to 2000+) and no OC. Right now running the game at 3440 x 1440, I am getting 65 FPS with everything Ultra and DLSS Q. Have yet to try 4K on my TV to see what FPS I would get from that. Hope that helps :)

So now EVGA is making use of the edges of their AIO to extract heat away from their memory. And I took measurements of this.

So the plate being tied to the AIO actually works :)
 
Now I know the 3090 has memory on both sides, but this should still help. The card will still extract heat away from both memory modules due to contact and thermal conduction, just not as efficient. The rear memory modules are still attached to the backplate with a copper base. 

 
That is a pretty big difference in vRAM temps indeed.  About 20C, from the looks of it.  I would assume part of that is the PCB soaking less heat because of the GPU core itself being cooled more effectively, combined with the fact that the memory plate helps as well.
 
Nice to know vRAM temps won't be an issue too much.




All that you listed helps and the plate is in direct contact with thermal paste to the AIO itself :)
 
So the VRAM temperatures drop 15-20C. My response was to PCLausen who thought the memory plate wasn't cooled by the AIO. EVGA claims to have a patent on this idea too and it clearly works.

There is a XOC Hybrid BIOs for these cards. I didn't really see it do anything, I believe it's to control the fans properly with a fan curve. The GPU and radiator fan.

Yeah, I got the radiator to be hidden and behind the case, your friend can do the same if he's interested!

Given how much I had to help him...and I suggested that in the first instance...I don't think he is going to open the case up for a few months (unless he absolutely has to).   He wanted to Unifan SL120s away from the wall so they could be shown off a little bit...so that's the approach he went with. It looks pretty good...I cannot fault him too much.  I do like your set up more though.

I don't know about the EVGA stock fans since I didn't test them. I boxed them right away. There are reviews for the ML120 fans you can read about.

Dust is dust, cat or not, considering that push vs pull are essentially identical in cooling performance, pull actually is better at higher rpm, what is the reason to go for push in this scenario and dealing with higher maintenance overhead that requires unbolting fan for full cleaning?

Edit: the best configuration is push-pull > Push > Pull
I would put the fans in a push configuration where they push the air through the radiator.



Always use pull in all my builds, CPU or GPU AIO.

That video has no compelling reasons to put your setup in pull unless if you have a cat or something. 


Dust is dust, cat or not, considering that push vs pull are essentially identical in cooling performance, pull actually is better at higher rpm, what is the reason to go for push in this scenario and dealing with higher maintenance overhead that requires unbolting fan for full cleaning?

Thanks for sharing. You are aware that when you say high RPM, that's 2200 RPMs there. That is VERY loud. 
 
The majority of users here will have their fan speeds I would argue from 1200-1600 RPMs. Not 2000s. That is why I am advocating for push and push always. Invest in intake dust filters and clean your system at least once a year. Don't have your case on the floor. 
 
EDIT: There are other factors actually, the higher positive pressure in your case can also affect things. Imagine air wants to already force itself through the fans because of the amount of pressure in the system. A push vs. pull system in this case might night matter since it's getting help from all the intake fans. 
 
But a negative air pressure case, it will definitely matter as the negative pressure will affect the exhaust fans, the exhaust fans will have to fight harder to maintain RPMs.

I am also a fan of push-pull and of maintaining "positive pressure" in the case (so that there is more air flowing in through fans than out).  This should keep the intake of dust and cat hair to where the fans are...and, per KingEngine, you've hopefully invested in dust filters.  Negative pressure would have air sneaking into the case through cracks in, and corners of, the case.

Has anyone installed this in the standard size P011 Dynamic case? Just wondering what options are as I am thinking I may upgrade to XL so I can mount it in the rear and run under rad hose under the side intake fans!

Same here, slight positive, not too much.  I also sealed my case to ensure all air passes through a fan and filter.  it's not air-tight, but all those little edges, open grills spots are closed off on my case.
