I hope us 3090 Ftw3 Ultra buyers have the option to do step up. Been buying Evga cards mobos since the company started. This card isn’t as good as I was hoping.

You won’t be able to step-up.

Looks like we will have to pony up and then sell our Ultras. Man the thought of running 3DMark with these cards in SLI on LN2, woo!

I would hope EVGA send a few out to the reviewers first, so we get some real idea of the true performance. Everyone wants to watch JayzTwoCents put his air conditioning box on the new KP.

I would rather they not, because that means another wait period. Just release them please.

If I don't decide against 3090 KPE and have the choice between hybrid and hydrocopper I think I'd choose hybrid and build/make my own block for it. Does anyone really want big EVGA KINGPIN advertisement on their GPU?

Being a bit hopeful there LOL, I'm more wondering about how EU customers will be dealt with. The EU site is barely maintained vs the US site, and unfortunately I'm in the UK so I hope I'm not left hung out to dry watching everyone around me (most of my friends are US/XOC guys) get cards while I'm just sat here twiddling my thumbs.

redarmanAre any 3090 KP ambitions being distracted by the 6900XT? I know mine are... I'm not interested in the Radeon cards whatsoever. AMD's drivers are notoriously bug filled trash and the most important aspect for me of this generation is the DLSS and real time raytracing. Because, to be frank, my 1080 Ti I have currently runs games just fine, most even on ultra without issue. So the true reason to upgrade is the RTX+DLSS performance, not necessarily the card on its own. And what we know so far is that Radeon's 6000 series only have real time raytracing similarly comparable to the RTX 2000 series, though without tensor cores and they would likely need game support. And if that was all you wanted the 2000 series is readily available and far easier to come by than I suspect either maker's new generation (though AMD's supply situation is yet to be seen). Some people would probably call it fangirling. But at the end of the day there are some genuine concerns. Prior to Zen 3 I was solidly in the Intel camp, my last AMD CPU being probably a Phenom II or some such. Since then there's been probably 2-3 Intels. That though wasn't a fangirl situation, AMD just couldn't compete with Intel when it came to performance. But now the tables have turned. AMD has PCIe 4.0 support which Intel does not which was one of the biggest factors for me since I intend to use M.2 NVMe SSDs, and for the money AMD just trounces Intel in cores for the money. All Intel had to cling onto was the 10900k's gaming performance alone. But with Zen 3 they lose even that. So there's no longer a reason to go with Intel in this current generation. As for Radeon cards, I'm not sure I'd ever trust the buggy drivers they're notorious for. And NVIDIA, while I loathe what they've done to GeForce Experience - particularly forcing a login and even a freakin' captcha (I mean really NVIDIA?), and the screen overlay causing issues with some games - their drivers are still better supported and while I don't personally use shadowplay, the option for it is nice. There's also stuff like HVEC GPU video encoding. It seems to me the AMD cards will likely be most useful with their higher performance in all but the things most important to gamers (save for maybe FPS players that only care about performance and not visual quality) to server farms and miners. Though I'm sure some people would probably not mind 3900 performance for $800 less, certainly if they don't care about DRT performance. Not sure about AMD's version of DLSS yet.

this card is intended for LN2 use. You won't see big difference between a regular 3090 OCd and this one.

...ehmmm... 850w would be at stock settings.. kingpin has been pulling FAR more than 850w just with the KPE, not even including the rest of the system. Also, NVidia needs to hand out the parts for companies to make the GPU’s, so that would be why companies “have been stingy with their cards.”

Okay but are those modded cards? I would like to know if there is a built in bios on one of the oc switches that exceeds 525 or whether we have to email kingpin to exceed that number They havent been very forward with tdp which is disappointing as thats what you are really paying for. The only thing we heard official is that 850w is g2g which indicates to me that my thoughts are accurate The ftw3 cards can already run l2n without issue. Yes the kp makes it easier due to its features, but 99% of the ppl that will buy this are concerned with better overclocks on water... that wont happen without more power budget But 525 vs 450 should produce some good increase

What were you hoping for? From a technical perspective, all the pictures I've seen of the 3090 KP show 3x 8-pin power connectors (@ 150W each), which means the card is only rated to pull 525W max (PCIe slot + 3x 8-pin connectors). As it's configured now, there's basically 120mm of radiator per 8-pin power connector and an air-cooler for the power from the PCIe slot... give or take some fudging. Given the hybrid's cooling (air + 360 rad), the 3090 KP should have no problem cooling 450W to 550W but would be stressed if you added another 150W power connector. This is still a good deal above Nvidia's FE design which uses 2x 8-pin connects (feeding their 12-pin connector), which limits the 3090 FE to 375W of total power. I've seen some rumors that suggest the new 12-pin standard can supply up to 600W of power, but you'd need 4x 8-pin connectors or a PSU that supports the new standard to realize that limit. From an alternate view, I'm unsure how much heat a 628mm^2 die can safely dissipate using ambient cooling, so I couldn't say how much cooling head-room there is if more power were supplied to the GPU. Obviously, chilled and LN2 would raise this limit as those go below ambient. That said, perhaps there are alternatives if you're using a hydro-copper w/ custom loop or LN2, but I don't any reason to add more power given the current cooling configuration of the 3090 hybrid KP.
