Just got my Strix 3090 OC. Just for the record, it is on constant 480W in benchmarks, spiking to 500W. 40W on PCI E slot, the rest at 150-167-170 W. Painless and solid in all benchmarks. This was a fresh breeze compared to the issues I had with the previous card...
I will try with the 500w bios later.
Just got mine. Taking it out of the box now. 4 cards enter...1 card leaves.

In EVGAs favour I do think the EVGA ran slightly colder on air. About 3 to 4 degrees.
Now I will not get the optimus block to tey but an alhpa cool for the strix.

I really am trying to be understanding here but EVGA, THIS SUCKS!!!!! We spent this much money because we wanted the best. Not all of us want a pre watercooled AIO card that will be sub par compared to a multi rad system. I bet even the kingpin hydrocoppers thermals won't beat the optimus!
I have a MSI Gaming X Trio coming from CDW (at some point). Crazy to think if I don't end up buying an AMD card I'll likely end up keeping that MSI unless a Strix becomes available.
I remember the good old days of talking to EVGA guys on STEAM. Now evga apparently has grown too big to care about anything other than profits.

That last sentence is a little harsh - just imho, especially after all the extra work and effort they went through to create the ability for the general public to reserve their purchase of a new 30XX GPU by utilizing the auto-notify feature of the forum. This to help us get our new GPU's in reasonable time without scalpers/bots buying them all up in seconds. That is caring for more than just profits. Not to mention Jacob being on Twitter all day long answering questions left and right.

I disagree. Something tells me they knew their cards are defective and sent them out so they can get 1800 bucks a pop to pay their engineers to fix the issues in the background on our dime. It appears that 1 in 4 cards are bad or have a problem so maybe 3 them are fixed without the user knowning they are getting a revised card. Returns cut into profits otherwisr why not release all the different variations into the que system? Maybe they are using the profits to fix the mistakes on the standard 3090 production cards...I'm giving EVGA the benefit of the doubt but the fact their has been total silence by them is really suspicious.

I can confirm without doubt that the bios that shipped to me with the card is not the same default bios that was posted here.
That default bios that shipped with the card yielded me my highest score of 14895 and also could get me game stable at 14600 settings...
Both the 500w and the "default bios" evga released max is 14600 and games table at 14200..
Fascinating.
Anyone got the original bios? I have a screenshot of it but didn't save it.

The bios that shipped with card 94.02.26.80.D0, this isn't available to download so people can flash to fix issues? Sounds like to me that if its not publicly availible there must be an incompatibility issue with the firmware and bios hence a hardware change aka REV.2 board 🤔

I dont understand. The 3090 Asus Tuf I had was pulling 350 watts. A couple hundred MHz and suddenly at 450-500 watts? Why?

I didn't record the max temp, I'm sure it was in the mid 70s during that playthrough. It was already idle when I took the screen shot. I broke my own record now with a 488.4W peak draw still no oc, just power target moved to 119%

I'm not sure I want to go back to the shipped stock bios anymore. The xoc beta bios has been great during gaming and in my last 2hr session, no crashes, though I did notice the 82C peak as the fans ramped up, but it was only for a moment and then went back to its mid 70's temp. I know it hit 82 without looking as I have a color change on the led to indicate if it hit 82C.

I applied the pinned bios for the 3090 FTW3 Ultra, but my slider is not reaching 119. Are they the ones for 500 Watts?

Ok can anyone explain to me why at random times my card starts showing full standard load mhz on clock, mem clock, and video clock with no pc load and it wont throttle down. This isn't isolated to the evga 3090 either I have a rog strix 3080 oc and it does it as well. I thought maybe the xoc bios caused this so i threw the strix in and low and behold same deal. Once it does this it wont ever idle down the only fix is reinstalling the nvidia driver. it literally does this within an hour of my pc being on depending what i am doing on it.  ugh

I think I figured it out actually. I just started using the graphics setting for power on prefer maximum performance. Once I changed it to adaptive or optimal power the clocks dropped. It appears that it locks the card into a high always on state once it gets to one and wont let it down. What the hell nvidia.
