Ok, my one is a oc-loooooser....

+150 GPU / +400 VRAM is all i can get

You're getting +150? I can only manage +100 / +500 max before crashing in Time Spy!

I can get +150 GPU / +900 vram stable in timespy. However, when playing Horizon Zero Dawn it crashes. If I Lower the GPU to +120 it is stable in the game.

Honestly ALL WE NEED TO KNOW

Is if this pcie shunt load balance can be fixed with vbios or software or is it forever hardlimited to be in ratio with the pcie shunt.

If it’s not fixable with a vbios flash then Atleast tell us now so we can sell our cards at a premium before this information gets out to the public and the value of our cards tanks to nothing

I was able to bench up to +225 gpu and +1000 mem before the patch on this thread. Now I can only get up to +210 gpu even with mem at +0. I was able to get on the HOF with a 14,5xx score in Port Royal on the previous bios.

However, to play non-RTX games my limit on the latest drivers is +170 while with RTX I need to lower it another 20 to +150 (e.g. Horizon).

Because its trash and effectively makes you lose 5watts of power instead of gain 50watts

I can get up to +200/+1000 but my average frequency won't go above 2000mhz in the summary after running Port Royal. I don't get it. Do I just have a slow card?

Temperatures need to be a lot lower than what normal air can provide. I get just under 2000MHz as well, 55C average temp in port royal. EDIT: +200 +800 for me.

I doubt it is temperature. Mine was up at 2175 max or so in the pic I posted earlier.

Lets also discuss Resolutions. Power Supplies and any other variables.
Its not temp as Jacob  has 70s c and over 450 watts...

So I've verified that no matter the resolution or OC (Furmark, Port Royal, Time Spy Extreme), my card draws a lot less wattage over the third PCIE power plug. Usually around 30 watts less than the other two, which are close in number to each other.

That imbalance might be why I see 436W board power draw, and others also see less than 500.

Under 81C is ok for 3090
i can easily reach above 450W during 70C-75C
But hard to 500W

I'm running a 43" 4k 144Hz monitor.
PSU is the 1600W EVGA Ti.
Mobo is MSI MEG Unify Z490
CPUs: 10900k and 10700k (pic was 10900k OC to 5.2 GHz on all cores--for the HOF I had it at 5.3 GHz on a cores)
64Gb RAM (3600MHz)
3xSSD 2Tb

Plus my buddies FTW3 Ultra 3090 and my own MSI 3090 Ventus OC (until my spot on the ftw3 ultra 3090 notify list is up...). I have not tried the bios on my MSI. The Ventus OC only has two power dongles so not sure i should bother.

Don't flash a 3 pin bios on a 2 pin. If you want a higher power limit, go for the Gigabyte Gaming OC bios, goes to 390.

In Time Spy Extreme, I'm seeing around 410 watts on average, with one spike to 436. This is overclocked +200 and +800 and on the 500 watt beta VBIOS and using MSI Afterburner to report the power draw.

Then we can rule out the PSU issue. I was about to buy a 1600W PSU just to try then return it, but if you can't make ut happen who has one, then it is due to some other reason.

I think I am just being thermal throttled. +1000/+150 and I never break 1960MHz consistently in Time Spy or Port Royal. Temps are never passing 63*C.

I got a new record though, 13903 w/ PR. Before the OC BIOS I was crashing at +825 memory, now I am doing +1000 without any issue. I am gonna stop for now. 19263 on Time Spy, I am happy with that considering I have a 9900K @ 5GHZ. I got a 9498 w/ Time Spy Extreme, that feels low though.

Edit: I did a 1100 run but only gained 16 points. RIP. Power target is at 119%, but I never draw more than 102%. Maybe Nvidia drivers are wonky? 456.98 has been giving me weird glitches recently, I just don't want to roll back.

No, it would scream very, very loudly to let me know. Max average power draw when hammering the CPU and GPU has been just about 1,000 watts from the wall with the 3090. I've got room for spikes ;)

Go to PX1 dial in your max overclock and click on "boost lock"
This is your theoretical max frequency

~2000Mhz as an average in port royal is pretty good and what i would expect from the upgraded $1800 ftw3 ultra. Maybe even just a tad under but you should be happy to reach 2000
If you take a look at the hall of fame for instance : https://www.3dmark.com/pr/415999
This guy has the #100 score in the world using an EVGA card with stock air cooler
Max frequency of 2130 with average frequency of 2,021.
60 C average temp

Since this is a top 100 score we cant call it average as its obviously above average. So use this as a benchmark for comparative purposes

I see a lot of you guys poo-pooing your cards and their overclocks but you need to put it in perspective

What were your settings when you managed the score on the 500 watt BIOS?

+200 GPU, +800 VRAM. If you look at the comparison under the GPU section, 2055 was reported on the 480 watt VBIOS as max, and 2145 on the 500 watt VBIOS.

Dang. What about voltage? I've used those settings before and only managed like a 13.9k something. Maybe I should unplug my second monitor, would that affect scores?

try lowering the vram and check out your score to see if it improves. Also close all programs and x out of PX1

I was able to get a higher score with a lower overall boost. As mentioned, I'm also completely stock with air cooling except the installation of the XOC Bios.

(I GUESS YOU WILL HAVE TO LOOKUP MY SCORES ON 3DMARK BECAUSE THIS FORUM.WORKS ABOUT AS WELL AS THE NEW BIOS AND WONT LET ME POST LINKS OR PICS....)

However, my card does seem to go above 500W, albeit rarely and via spikes, and does boost rarely to 2175MHz or thereabouts.

Here's a score with over 2160MHz close to my highest score:

I'm glad this is all.happening before my notify for this card. I will likely just keep my MSI based on the performance of the XOC 3090 bios and the website. Perhaps it's time to tell my buddy to return his card and wait for something better.

This is my score from the other day using stock 450w bios with air cooler.
2,205 clock with 2,114 average frequency.
Just more food for thought I'f you want to put things in perspective to see both the low end and high end.
i havent seen or heard of anything higher than this so view it as a 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 100,000 golden chip. The max frequency i get is 2,220, at 2,235 it crashes but i can try cold air as well

Since its such a good sample i really want to get the 500w bios working as I think it would get me over 15,000. I already have the optimus water block ordered and i think that can get me into the top 10 without needing to use any shunt mods, volt mods, ln2, or special bios like the rest of the ppl in top 10

ALSO, this is the ftw3 non ultra so if you have the option to buy this instead of the ultra go for it and save yourself $70 +tax. The ultra is literally pointless

@ehabash can you share your mem and core offsets, as well as voltage, from px1 for that 14.8k score? And were you able to even match it with the 500w bios or did you have to revert? Thanks

Yeah. This is disappointing. I thought evga was a decent company but between the website and the xoc issues and the premium for a card that isn't any better than their other cards, I don't know anymore. I may flip my sons bday setup card (evga 3080 ftw3 ultra) and replace it with something else before the prices plummet like the MSI 2-dongle cards. I wish there were better alternatives than paying 3k for the better asus card...

I believe i used +205 and + 900 for that score. voltage doesnt change my score that much but since im so limited with the 450w i run the voltage on minimum. If i run the voltage at 100 i have to lower my clocks so my score goes down slightly.
It's all silicone lottery though

The issue here for me is that anything extra makes a huge difference for RTX games at 4k ultra. Anything that EVGA leaves on the table that I cannot tap into means I have to upgrade that much sooner to tap into more FPS in RTX. Horizon at 90fps is better than 60fps for sure, but if it can eek up even higher, even better. Really until 120+ fps, it will always seem choppy to me.

Also, why is it that I never gain any posts? I've been here since 2007. I had a name change, and now I can't even gain posts.

arcky
And were you able to even match it with the 500w bios or did you have to revert? Thanks

The 500w bios didnt make a difference in my score tbh. Technically this score was with 500 bios but i cant be sure it wasnt due to tinkering with offsets and voltage as i was able to repeatedly score into 14,700s with 450w bios
