hi i got a ftw3 ultra and i am going to put a hybrid kit on it. Can i use the xoc hybrid bios instead of the fwt3 ultra bios?

Yes, but you'll need the xoc hybrid vbios in .rom format, and you will need to use nvflash to flash it to your card.

Why is this still beta...next time I'm getting Asus strix. Every new driver update the fan control on precision x1 gos nuts.

I'm playing and my temps are 80c. I open the window it's -15 outside and my temps stay about the same.

After I installed the nvidia hot fix driver update only 1 fan was spinning. I have to keep checking the fan control check box and keep checking on it.

Such dumb glitches for such an expensive card.

I got the 3080 back in mid October from the store but still didn't get any notify me email. Sept 19 I think.

Some observations of EVGA 3080 ftw3 ultra
  • When just letting the card do its own boosting there does not appear to be any performance difference between normal or OC bios or normal 450w beta bios or OC 450w beta bios
  • The only difference between the normal and OC bios is the fan curve
  • The beta 450W OC bios marginally improves bench marking with +100 core but runs very hot and pulls down a lot of volts
  • Card runs much hotter than I expected it given its "premium" branding and pricing. i.e. hitting 80C playing CP2077

Can we please get the original BIOS linked in this thread so we can revert?  The 3090 thread has this, but the 3080 doesn't.

I'm still waiting on a verified original BIOS from EVGA as well.

The XOC bios only adds the extra power if you explicitly run PX1 or AB and set it to +118 power.  If you don't set that in PX1 or AB you will get default bios power limit of 380W and the card will perform the same as stock\OC bios.

What are you hoping to gain from the default bios?  just wondering.

That's with it locked at 1.1V and clocking 2,235-2,265mhz sustained for GPU1 and GPU2 tests, the average is skewed by the CPU test down clocking the gpu to 1,800mhz.  Power solidly above 400w, but not riding the 450w limiter, just tapping it.  Being outside in ~0 degree (C) temps helps with the power consumption I think, card started at about 20C and ended at 26C, hybrid with top mount push pull fans. Timespy is a light load for this card.

I've seen a peak of 485w in Furmark at normal ambient temps.

Are increased cooling systems needed for overclocking?

Just stick your PC outside if you live in a colder area.

Thats a madman's score.  nice!

Those temps under 30c are the key to keeping your clocks up above 2200mhz.  Your mem oc is undoable on air for sure.

I am settled into my 24\7 settings at :

+180 core
+600mem
full power\volt sliders
silent under 40c and sharp\aggressive curve to 80%fans at 70c

This setting gives me great VR in PCars2 and Starwars Squadrons.  I haven't even pancake gamed with this 3080 yet lol.

I’m running the OC bios with PX1 and I set it to 110 power, 115 and 118 I’m
Getting worse 3D Mark scores with the beta bios. I’m getting worse gaming performance as well.

Haha thanks. I can't run +180 stably on normal ambient temps like you can, at least without locking voltage.  Could not push it any higher than the 2303 / 1.1v point, it would crash.  The mem OC seemed to be helping scores, tried +700, +900 and were lower, normally would run +1000.

My memory OC is +1200 On air stable after long gaming sessions. If I lower the OC my time spy score gos down. How is that I can go so high on air? I got some magic memory? 😁

With the 450w BIOS I can get my clocks to 2115Mhz on air stable. I dont know how that compares to most 3080s.

Yes that is top tier for the FTW3 Ultra on XOC bios.  We are all seeing similar oc's as you.

Well so far my best score with my stock cooled 3080 FTW3 Ultra in Time Spy was 18544 and a 12585 in Port Royal. Only open case/open window, no additional fans other than my case fans. I imagine it would be even better if I moved the case outside, though I'm waiting to get what I need to do a shunt mod first. Hoping to blow away a few more 3090s. I will also be sticking an EK water block on it, which should be shipping early in the new year :D

Anyone had any issues with sub 850w power supplies? I'm waiting for my back-order to arrive and I'm planning on trying the bios since I will be putting the card in a custom loop eventually. Just wondering since my power supply is a Fractal design 760P.

When you clock it that high, the higher clocks will over compensate the memory errors. You need to test it in 50 increments from 0 and you will find the point the performance will decrease (or not increase as much as you think it should comparatively)

My point happens right at about 400. If I push it to 1000, scores will be higher too and seemingly stable. but memory errors kick in at about 400 so it is not optimal.

I went from 0 and kept going higher until my time spy score went down. I lowered it by 100 and left it at 1200.

Isn't that the right way of overclocking memory? Higher time spy score =Better?

The lower I clock it , the lower the score.

What benchmark do you use?

So I'm really mulling between keeping my RTX 3080 XC3 or selling it to a friend and getting the RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra.

I'm going to put either card under water so that removes the fan cooling from the equation.

The only thing I am left with is more possible power and thus possibly a better overclock.

I am able to get +150Mhz on the GPU with sliders maxed on the XC3.  I'm just not sure that it makes sense for me to get that extra wattage.  While it is fun for benchmarking and squeezing a few more FPS out, does it make sense?

If you are going under water for sure it makes more sense to have the FTW3 Ultra.  But tbh the difference in actual gaming fps will be maybe + 2-3fps in long gaming sessions.  All 3080's perform about the same.

Thank you.  I had ordered the FTW3 first, however, ended up getting lucky and getting an XC3.  It does make sense to cool the FTW3 more than the XC3, however, the gains just don't seem to be there as you had stated.

Hi all
Anyone have a link to the original Ftw3 3080 Ultra bios.
i have the XOC on there now and i think its preventing me from updating to the hybrid kit version that i just installed. I thought if i flashed it back to the original then it would let me update to the hydro version.
thanks all

My 3080 FTW3 crashes with both bios when playing COD Cold War or Modern Warfare whenever it hits over 2000Mhz and I don't understand it. I have Lian Li case with 10 fans. It never gets over 60C.

Update windows, update Nvidia drivers, update system drivers, and make sure your power supply is good.
