Hey all,

I hope you all are well! Ok, so here's my dilemma, I have an EVGA GeForce RTX 3060. I'm trying to control the RGB lighting, however, when I downloaded Precision X1, my version doesn't seem to have the "LED" option at the top where you see "HVM," "POWER," "RE-BAR," etc. So I then downloaded a program called OpenRGB, where I can now control the lighting, however, in that process, my graphics card (where it says "EVGA GEFORCE RTX) doesn't light up anymore, and the RGB color profile doesn't stick when I reboot, shutdown, etc. So now, each time I reboot, I have to load the color profile. Any initial thoughts or suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hoping to hear some good news soon!

Thanks in advance!

I don't think that the RTX 3060 has RGB.

Oh man, that's a bummer to hear. The funny thing is that when I downloaded OpenRGB, it recognized my Corsair Vengeance Pro RGBs and my MSI MPG Z690 EDGE WIFI DDR4 (MS-7D31) and even allows me to change the color schemes, however, my Graphix Card is not lighting up and OpenRGB doesn't look like it's recognizing the Graphics Card as the Graphics Card has no lighting at all. Here is an image of what I am talking about below:

OpenRGB allows me to control the color scheme, however, it also doesn't save the color scheme upon reboot.

    Any ideas?

Did you set up OpenRGB as an administrator?  Did you make it so it loads at Windows startup?  Take a look through the info from this link -> https://openrgb-wiki.readthedocs.io/en/latest/OpenRGB-Windows-Setup-and-Usage/  Maybe it will help you figure things out.

Oh no, I'm pretty sure I didn't set up OpenRGB to run as administrator. Should I uninstall and reinstall and then run as administrator first?

Might be a good idea to do that. I would also follow the directions found in the link I posted above for having the OpenRGB software to auto run when Windows boots up. Either that or you may have to launch it every time you want your RGB settings applied.

I did run OpenRGB as an administrator and it still did not recognize my Graphics Card. Question, is a graphix card supposed to be lighting up also? Also, would there be any other programs that would be able to control my RGBs?

As far as I know, there is no EVGA 3060 which has RGB.  If it has no RGB, there is no software which can control the non-existent RGB.

I think I just figured out that I actually have the EVGA 3050 RTX Video Card. Any difference?

    Nope
    Not unless it is a 3070 FTW3, 3080 FTW3, or 3090 FTW3.

Ok well I keep getting mixed devices some say it's a 3050 and some say it's a 3060 but if there's no difference than ok. Are either of those supposed to be lighting up and detectable by the RGB software?

As what was stated earlier, those model GPU's never came with RGB.

Oh man! So either way in for me to be able to not only save my RGB color profiles to my computer settings I would need to get another type of graphics card? If so, which ones would come with RGB? That must be the reason why when I downloaded Precision X1, it never shows an "LED" section like in the tutorials?

Your problem is with OpenRGB not with which GPU you have. Seriously, as far as which GPU models have RGB, do your own research, there are hundreds of models with RGB. EVGA is out of the GPU business currently.

Ahhh I see what you're saying. The issue is with OpenRGB as there may be some compatability issues. So, because I'm all new to any of this, and I don't want to start going down a crazy rabbit hole, I would like to ask the experts: If you were in my situation, which route would you take?

The route I would take is enjoy your card and stop trying to install software to do the impossible.

Thanks Ty! I was only trying to do a very simple thing with my computer lighting. My wife bought this computer for me for my birthday and I would just like it to do what everyone else's computers do. I don't think I'm asking for the world here. It seems like a relatively simple request to just have my color profiles be easily controlled and for the color profile to stick when I reboot the computer or restart it and not always default to this very basic and unwanted rainbow color scheme. I don't know. I guess I'll have to go to like PC Laptops or some computer pro around town to get it resolved.

It seems that your question isn't a 3050 or 3060 question, and is a general software question.

I would suggest that you contact the OpenRGB developer regarding the issues you are having with it, or remove OpenRGB and go back to Corsair's and MSI's separate solutions.

Ahh after some research, I finally got rid of OpenRGB and MSI Mystic Light and downloaded SignalRGB. This seems to be working properly now. Thanks all for all your input and help!
