Kaapstad Why has this thread gone so quiet. This was one of the most anticipated cards this year and yet no one is posting anything.
There isn't much on this card even after release... Worries me.
I think it's because the Kingpin came in too late to the party. It may very well be the last major Pascal card released. And as such everyone has already bought and benched their FTW, Strix, etc cards. I just got mine, anything you want to know? I'm working on a new build so it'll be on air for the time being.
I had the OC Strix but returned it once EVGA announced the Kingpin. I loved my Strix. I have been using a 780ti Classy since it released. I just want to know how the Kingpin performs in the real world, and how the lights are(curious). Or if I should just get a FTW3 or Strix again.. My Strix was running 2100Mhz fine on air. I had a good one.
Give me a few days and I'll share some photos of the lights and some generic benches.

You probably should have kept it. ;) Don't expect anything special from the Kingpin card, unless you are going to use exotic cooling. Using standard air or water cooling, the odds of a Kingpin card performing well are the same as the odds for any other video card of the same type.
Probably. I will just wait to order another Strix or Kingpin. Kingpin was just in stock but already gone. My 780ti Classy is still doing good at 1440p.
EGVA really need to do something exciting with the Kingpin even my air cooled Titan Xp cards can overclock better than most highend AIB partner 1080 Ti cards. Maxwell and the 980 Ti Kingpin was fun as it traded blows with my water cooled Maxwell Titans. Unfortunately I don't think the 1080 Ti Kingpin can do the same up against a full fat Titan Xp.

If they don't a bunch of air-cooled kingpins will hit the for sale section/ebay.

If you watch the unboxing of the KPE @3:50 he states that there will be a waterblock for the card and that it will be coming soon. youtube.com/watch?v=DNAh64hD_Zk

Well this is 6 hrs of effort lol. I've got some Fallout 4 benches from XOC but I'm guessing I need to throw it into an excel to get useful numbers Unbox: fairly uneventful. (Edit-I'm missing a case badge?) - Loved the t-shirt - Thank you(!!!) for including voltage Probe-It Cable/dongle. I'm still a little pissed about the cost of buying those for the my 980 Ti Classy's. - Stickers were the usual generic oversized boring EVGA - Gold card was cool, honestly better quality than some lifetime membership cards I have received - Poster, can we get something a little more interesting or relevant? Maybe something KPE related? - mini-DP cable was missing a cover? I don't care but the others have caps - Driver CD coaster, thanks. Install: - Easy, nothing different except power is on the end of the card...I honestly prefer this. - Nonstandard: There are no full size DP. Only mini-DP to make way for DVI. But thankfully can be reduced to single slot. -LED lighting -- My only complaint is that the cooler doesn't always appear to match the backplate. My guess is that the cooler LED has to be projected over a larger surface area and therefore appears faded compared to backplate, depending on the color ( e.g. check out the RED or GOLD pics below). -- I recommend primary colors with the RGB LEDs, mixed colors are not the greatest. -- Cooler has the most options with static colors, rainbow, off, and breathing. Backplate can match the cooler, set to a separate static color, or off. -- The 3x status lights for temps are RGB. The BLUE is more dim than RED or GREEN (see below) -- "Kingpin" LED on corner is static white. -- 5x voltage LEDs are static white. First run: - COIL NOISE. A lot. Exponentially louder than my 980 TI Classy SLI. It appears to be getting quieter with burn-in? This is my first Pascal card so I don't want to say this is unique to the Kingpin. To echo the posts about the noise of the card: it's loud. I decided to try it out with Wildlands and in-game the card was loud enough to make me think it had to be hitting something with the fan (I'm terrible at cable management), but there was nothing near the fans. And whenever I paused the game or went to a menu the noise died down significantly. Interestingly, benchmark programs didn't cause the card to be nearly as loud as any real game I threw at it (a little bit of Metro). I'm coming from SLI 980 K|NGP|N cards and this single 1080Ti card is far louder than the two 980s combined. However, as Gir pointed out, the second run of Wildlands was quieter than the first (still louder than any previous cards I've owned though). I'll see how it goes for now (and if all goes well, attempt to get a second card whenever that may be).

My cards have coil whine, all 3 of them.. nvidia made them, not EVGA . All cards are susceptible to coil whine, from all brands. It's terrible, but there is a multitude of things, to include wall power, that could cause it.

gobstoppable according to jacob on the evga livesteam, hydrocopper waterblock for kingpin cards coming next week! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/176741288 jacob talks about it at 16:21
Yeah well we were promised Classified Hydro Coppers a few times and that didn't happen so I would take everything with a grain of salt, even hearing it from EVGA. I've learned to only see what shows up in the EVGA store.

Well lets keep our fingers crossed. ek specifically said they wont be making a block for this card. evga has been saying since the launch of the kingpin card that they will be making a waterblock. Since there has been several updates, im hoping we will get one. He said during one of his pax streams that a waterblock should be coming by the end of the month, and in that most recent stream he said they will be available next week. That's would be a lot of updates if the product doesn't exists. evga usually plays their hand pretty close to the vest, and for jacob to openly say they will be available next week, then I bet we see them.

Generic unboxing photos. Feels like a solid quality product. Be careful- don't toss the box too quickly (although doubt many would), screws and paste are tucked into the inner frame of the box.
