clgrimm Looks like original early 1080 FTW owners have been given the short end of the stick again...This really leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Yeah - I feel that too. But at least I got an original FTW that easily meets its specs and exceeds it without breaking a sweat. As usual I have to buy something right when I want it instead of waiting to see what else is coming down the pike. But then, if I lived by that mantra I'd never get any new cool things!!! Unfortunately it does mean that I'll need to try to sell my original FTW that already has a significantly reduced worth to get one of "them-thar" new-fangled FTW3 video cards!!!!

yours cant meet the oc potential of the new 1080 with 11gpbs 1.35v chip. yours overclocked level=new 1080 stock level, new one can further oc to 12gpbs or even higher.

mstcobra Yeah, that's what I tried. I even tried extracting the exe to see if there was a hidden .rom in there but no luck. I also tried HxD but no HW IDs in there that I could see to edit and the .rom isn't on the techpowerup vbios database yet. If you have a secret, please share with the rest of the class!
on overclock.net forum, cross flashing pascal bios has been discussing for so long. you have to use some special modded version of nvflash to flash pascal bios. of course the evga official tool wont allow you to cross flash bios... but i dont recommend doing this as probably on icx cards the vram is "d9vrl" 11gbps 1.35v chip rather than old acx cards with "d9txs" 10gpbs 1.35v chip. by the voltage suggested, you shall understand why only icx cards has this bios update. otherwise, the second handed prices of the acx cards are killed further
I didnt need any special modded version of nvflash to flash my 1080 just "nvflash -6 name.rom" and from what everyone has been posting all 1080s still have 10gpbs memory just overclocked. Its kinda wierd some of us was able to crossflash with the evga flasher no problems while others cant maybe they updated the flasher.

Yeah. I have no problem manually flashing a bios but I can't do it if the rom isn't available. Has anyone been able to get the rom or figure out a way to get it out of the exe? I tried extracting with 7zip and it's not there (that I can see).

I already know that, which is why I'd need to sell my 2 dusty 980 SC's and be ready to sell my 1090 ACX 3.0 to get one of the new cards.

Timings are different, couldn't find the voltage table. I'm so torn on this, either it's a nice bonus for customers or it's the easy way out on evga's part.

I figured timings had changed because this bios gives me higher perf then just overclocking to 11ghz on my old bios.

getting a EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2 later today cant wait to flex its muscle lol went with the Gigabyte GTX1080 xtreme gaming water force WB which was a great card but crappy WB had stress cracks in it and all of their replacement cards where the same or worse. Then tried the Gigabyte GTX 1080 TI Gaming OC which was a heater and a half nothing calmed it down. Prior to that I was rocking sli'd Titan X (maxwells) ECGA Hydro Coppers never should of went away from EVGA their stuff is and always has been upper echelon stuff. At least if this cards to warm there is a WB available for it already. wow been so long since I've posted here I forgot about my sig banner lol VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Ok so I flashed my 1080 FTW with the 1080 FTW2 bios. In order to keep the comparison apples to apples, I matched clock for clock for both GPU core and Memory. Here are my results: It would seem that it's within margin of error but here's where the plot thickens, the new bios would pass all stability tests but when I tried to match it clock for clock with a +500 offset on the memory with the old bios I would fail almost every stress test with the exception of Superposition. I heard mention of a change in timings and that might be true but there is also a chance that the memory voltage is slightly higher. An important note: Obviously, this didn't brick my card but I flashed this onto a 1080 FTW that is in a custom loop. There is no telling how this bios will impact an ACX cooler since it was designed for an iCX cooler with independent fan control. In other words, just because this worked for me, it may not work for you because the main distinction between an ACX and an iCX card is moot for me in this use case because I am not using the cooler or the fans.

itay.engel As 1080 FTW edition owner, I demand a bios that fits for this card. I have the pads applied on my memory, I think deserve bios for this card.
Your card has a bios that fits it. Exactly the one that was intended for it. You can request a new bios, but your demands were met when you paid for what was advertised.

Thank you for testing this, can confirm working here as well! :) This is on a 6286 FTW. My card ran +600 on memory previously without a hiccup. I am still able to pump another +100 into it with no issue. :)

3 x runs using Superposition Benchmark I then realised that I wasn't on the latest driver lol. I'm using 2 x GTX1080's I also used the SLI mod that allows Superposition to use both GPUs. Nice little increase. No artifacting, no overclocking. I guess the next step would be to update the drivers, attempt a little overclock to see how far I can push the cards with the new 11GHz Memory. Thanks EVGA!

yes set to 0 and no you cant your memory will be running at 11ghz after the flash, you would need to retest and see what headroom you have left if any.

The FTW2 BIOS 40.81 only partially works. At lower core clocks the memory goes to 5504mhz (11ghz) but at maximum 2025mhz it's still at the old 5005mhz (10ghz) memory speed. It would be a lot easier if these cards just had 2D and 3D clocks like AMD cards. Afterburner is almost useless.
