When coming into a new thread is always useful to read, at least, 2 or 3 messages before yours :P The answer is in this same page. As moderators have been said during all this thread, you must write to the support email or open a support ticket.

I don't understand, if the stoping and starting can affect the fan life why the new models come with this bios? I've checked mine with the XOC and the fan was at 0%!

Think about it- the fan starting only when you game heavily compared to starting everytime you turn on your computer/resume from sleep. Which number is likely to be higher?

I understand that Kirosia, but the other comments here made me feel a little insecure. They've also send me the update with the fan always at 20%. Which do you think is the best option?

Set a custom fan curve. Or you can use one of the presets. My GPU would hit 60-5C with the default settings (0% at idle) on a certain game, but with the aggressive preset, it hits 45-50C. I currently keep it on aggressive, the increase in noise hasn't been an issue yet.

But in order to do this the program should always be working, right? The problem is that I use Linux most of the time (as a matter of fact I use Windows only to gaming and some Adobe programs), and the EVGA software is Windows only : /

By the way guys there is a new firmware for the 1060 SC from this thread h ttp://forums.evga.com/Update-11916-with-NEW-BIOS-EVGA-GeForce-GTX-108010701060-PWM-Temperature-Upadate-m2573491.aspx
- 06G-P4-6163-KR - EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC - Primary BIOS (86.06.39.00.62)
Tested it a bit and it is passive until 53 C and then it goes up really nicely. It is kinda cold here at the moment and with some game testing I can only make it go to 62-63 C with 35% (~1350-1400 RPM) fan speed. @EVGA_JacobF Does this bios also change the RPM at different % ? I could swear that 100% was around 2500-2800 RPM with the previous vbios but now it goes at 3850 RPM or so. Even at 50% it is ~2000 rpm which I think it was around 65% with the last passive bios. Edit: I guess I can't post links just yet.

Hello. Installed yesterday the new BIOS on my EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC (06G-P4-6163-KR) and sounded like a jumbo jet while in heavy load (gaming). Temperatures were idle at 40~43 ºC with fan at 22% (800 - 900 RPM) Load 70 ºC with fan at 65% (2500 RPM) Way to solve this was to use a custom fan curve with max fan % at 44 (~1700 RPM) and underclock the GPU and memory by 200Mhz Note i have a Silverstone SG13 and the airflow in the "shoebox" is limited.....

Has anyone at all with an AMD motherboard been able to fix the missing vendor ID issue and use the missing precision X features? I've been going back and forth with tech support and would like to know if there actually is a fix before wasting any more time. I've dug my GPU box out of the closet and registered my card to prove I've had one. Uninstalled and reinstalled my nvidia drivers multiple times because I was given the wrong instructions.(AMD users have a different process). Installed AMD 0fan bios. Was told to click the "K" that wasn't there to turn on kboost. Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers again as instructed to try to install the "lower fan speed" bios they then sent. Finally got the correct instructions, tried to install it again and got the message "Board is incompatible with firmware version 86.06.27.00.60.". Now they want me to send a picture of my graphics card. Is there a light at the end of this tunnel?

Wow. With my Define R4 case, my SC does ~30C idle (to be fair it is like 50-60F out) and 45C load (Tomb Raider) on aggressive fan curve (old 0 bios). And the noise isn't an issue. I'm definitely gonna hold off on updating the bios.

Hi, From what I've read above there are 2 options now? 0 RPM or 20% RPM at no load? I'm under the impression that I've got the 20% RPM version from support: (86.06.13.00.60 origional BIOS)

Yes, you have the 20% BIOS. (In fact, the actual minimum is 21%). And for the others: yes, maximum fan speed has been increased a 50% more. So if 100% was 2600RPM, with the last BIOS 100% is 3900RPM.

You need to open a support ticket and ask for the 0RPM or 21%RPM BIOS. (if this applies to your card)

Successfully i got a new BIOS update (86.06.27.01.60) for my 06G-P4-6161-KR card from the EVGA support. Why dont you post its link here or in an other topic? It should be very useful for every 06G-P4-6161-KR owner. My idle GPU temperature was 43 °C (0 RPM) with the first BIOS release, now with the new one, it is just 32 °C (625 RPM) and It's still very quiet. Thx EVGA support team!

That's my BIOS too and it's a great one! About the download, from model 6163 you can download it from the official thread: http://forums.evga.com/Update-11916-with-NEW-BIOS-EVGA-GeForce-GTX-108010701060-PWM-Temperature-Upadate-m2573491.aspx But for models like your (6161 you still need to contact them directly). Maybe you model (6161) is older than mine (6163), bought at the beginning of October. However mine is hotter: 39ºC at 29% fan speed (idle but browsing). Regards!

I would highly recommend the latest BIOS (86.06.27.01.60) over the 0 dB version. I can not hear the fan when it idles at around 20-25% speed, and the temperatures are much better at idle and load. Also the 0 dB version has some compatibility issues with nouveau. I could not boot into the desktop of Ubuntu 16.04 or 16.10 without installing the proprietary drivers first using my integrated graphics. I have a 06G-P4-6163-KR

File a support ticket to find out. EVGA will want to know the exact model number and serial number for each card. Do not try to flash all cards to the same BIOS. EVGA manufactures the cards with the ability to change various card components to different equivalent components depending on component supply availability. It is likely that a BIOS version on one card won't work on another card which currently has a different BIOS version. Usually the BIOS version difference is because a different brand or model of memory was utilized. If you try to use a BIOS designed for Samsung memory on a card with Hynix memory, or vice versa, the card might stop working properly. In other words, the BIOS versions are probably different for a reason. If you are looking for a BIOS update, always contact EVGA directly. For what it is worth, BIOS updates are rare and are almost always optional. BIOS version differences are almost never noticeable in regards to the card's use.

Hi, EVGA Staff, Im'm having this problem were my GPU (GTX 1060 SC 3GB) temps are high while on idle, temps roam between 48 and 51 degrees Celsius, while ambient temperature is 15 degrees, my case is well ventilated the GPU gets cold air from one side of it, and exhaust hot air from the front, rear, and top. (is an Skyreach 4 Mini) Can you please send me the modified vbios where the fan is always on? getting worried at this temp... i've open already a support ticket but no luck. Thank you!

EVGA really shouldn't call them video card "BIOS" then - even though that is the right name - just because people are completely used to always wanting and expecting "the newest one is better, right?" But really, as people are describing, with the different models having different RAM or other chip providers, they really can't and shouldn't be the same at all. Perhaps EVGA should call them "specialty hotfixes" or something like that; to the connotation of a sysadmin, Microsoft often has hotfixes available "by contact only" - just like EVGA apparently. A hotfix means that maybe you don't need this, in fact you almost definitely don't - but if you do, contact us and we'll confirm this will apply to you, then we'll give it to you. Just my $.02 - even though they are indeed "BIOS files" most people are used to their motherboard BIOS's where they're just easily downloadable from your OEM's site. These EVGA video card files aren't being treated like that at all.

Yes, I need something built in because PrecisionX is close to use 20% of my CPU sometimes, and there is some games that need alot of CPU. Sometimes I think to get back my 750ti cause I cant use this 1060 6Gb at maximum capacity with POE, température skyrocket anyway and CPU usage too.
