Got an email this morning from ek saying these were delayed until jan 2015.

Oh no! Are you kidding?!

Unfortunately not. :(
 
"We are sorry, but due to unexpected circumstances, there is a delay with the release of this waterblock.
Waterblock will be available in our sales program in January 2015."


Hopefully that gets pushed ahead somehow to the end of dec at least.

I just found out that the EK-FC780 Classy water blocks WILL work on the EVGA GTX 980 Classifieds!



Glad I don't have to spend Hundreds of $$$ for New EK water blocks when I still have the four left when I sold my EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin Editions!

Not recommended... But I won't stop ya :p

Anyway, I really haven't decided to use them yet (Due to PCB Flexing as I found out), So I'll probably keep using my "GPU Only" water block setup, Which seems to work just as well (Temperature wise) as the EK-FC780 Classy's did on my EVGA GTX 780Ti Classified Kingpin Editions until I get to see some GTX 980 Classified Blocks First.

Does the heatspreader do a good job keeping the vrms and memory cool with just the universal GPU block?  I have an EK thermosphere from another project that ended up not being used, if I dremel off those 4 little tabs around the gpu on the heatspreader the thermosphere would work on that card. Saw on another forum some people did that with the 780 classies with good results. Would be a good workaround until the full block is available, the way things have been going this block will be delayed several times and I don't mind modding the heatspreader.  Might also figure out a way to mount a fan in the case so there is always airflow on the heatspreader.
 
 

Ek is the only announced company that I have heard of making Classified blocks this round.

Any more news on the eta? I have some money burning a hole in my pocket.....

Hello again guys....merry christmas and happy new year.... so after christmas I bought things for the second loops of my classi... (if they delete the waterblock i kill my self ahahahh) I bought the pump d5 photon 270ml of xspc.... one 480 radiator and one 360 radiator..... it is enough for 4 gpus????? My second question is.... to connect the gpus is better to use "hd tubing" or a "bridge" (I choose ekwb for this)???? what do you guys think????  And someone have some new news about the realases of wb??????? Thank you very much 

Mmmmmmm i don t know because this is my first classi.... maybe the processor and the vram position are in different place.... and also the archittetture of processor are different.... but this is only my opinion!!!!!!

I can't see that page from work for some reason, but if the 680 Classified is the same for the 980 Classified, then I can bang out a waterblock for it with the same code.

The last posting I saw was by 2015... I haven't seen otherwise, that's why I oodted what I did...

I send another mail to ek yesterday and they reply me that the water block will be release in late january!!!!!!!!!

I'll take three. I'm on the EK wesite twice a day checking the news. I'm waiting on EK to release the blocks so I can buy the classy's, back plates and blocks all at the same time. The odds are that the blocks will come out and the cards will be out of stock again.
