There's 3 DisplayPorts and the HDMI is priority 1, for? What's more retarded than that? Two Cards: PCIe Slot 1 = 1080Ti (DisplayPort any connected to 2560x1600 30" monitor) PCIe Slot 2 = 780 (DVI ports connected to two older monitors) System repeatedly ignores and refuses to use the 30" monitor connected to the 1080Ti in the primary PCIe port, always uses the DVI monitors on the 780 which are actually in portrait orientation. Frustrating when prior to installing OS, when there's no video driver or when removing old video driver from safe mode and when there is an OS and trying to get into UEFI firmware setup. Always uses the portrait DVI monitors, even with those DVI monitors disconnected, system still refuses to use the 30" connected to the 1080Ti, have to connect the monitor to the 780's DisplayPort. What a nightmare. There's got to be a utility to set the default port in the video cards UEFI firmware. As you your question as to why? The older ports have ALWAYS been prioritized by Nvidia. If you had a card with VGA, DVI, HDMI, and DP, the order would be VGA>DVI>HDMI>DP. Some motherboards allow you to disable legacy mode, and I've read of one or two people who were able to use their DP monitors as primary afterwards even during POST (there's likely an additional setting or two that has to be changed, which will likely be called something different in the BIOS - call and ask your motherboard manufacturer). post edited by arestavo - 2017/12/02 09:32:36 #13
