bobmitch If you look at the attached image...there isn't a HUGE difference. Yes, there are some differences, but I don't know if it's enough to sell off ACX 3.0 for it.
Where do the Temps actually come from on the acx? Did it say? I ask, because there are no temp sensors in those spots.

There is 9 new sensors on the icx.. the ACX had 1.

warrior10 yeah, i noticed i was missing the real address when the link wouldn't show up. Yeah, for once i could've been the first to post the Link for the iCX GPU's, now someone slse will have lol.
The fact you are helping provide any info is great. The link you give is actually different, so you have that.
As far as the thermal sensors on the card, I know people have been asking for that for years, and the only card I ever owned that had a single vrm sensor was the 980 Kingpin, so I am stoked to see this move to provide multiple new thermal sensors on the board.
I can't wait to see more about the cards. I see that kyle didn't mention that the cooler itself is now attached to the board as well, rather than just being attached to the core.
Yes, we have been asking for those Thermal-sensors for a long time indeed but obviously the Nvidia GPU maker didn't want to put up the money for them which bit them in the but later on. i guess Gigabyte was the only vendor that used a Thermal-sensor for the 10-series GPU's. This Article that we are looking at is the Most detailed, and has the best information that techies like me want to know about how this New GPU cools things with great wealth. :) Like you Scarlet and a lot of others here, i do not buy any Series of GPU early in the game because with all new GPU's, not mattering where you get them from are more prone to accidental defects, other buyers should be as wise in my opinion. But, these new Icy-X=ICX GPU's are screaming at me to try and Upgrade immediately if i can. This is a big leap for Nvidia in the right direction. This time i'm throwing in the towel lol :p PS: I was gonna say this earlier, but Fact is we need a New thread for these sassy babies when TeamEVGA on Twitch announces them. :)

I would guess they measured the same areas where they put the sensors on the revision.

Probably a long overdue idea. My single rail PSU can put out enough current to blow a hole in that GPU and not even blink. A fuse is a relatively cheap way to potentially limit damage that should not affect performance.

i saw the bitwik review before the vidoes set to be private. his test result is that given the same 2000rpm fan speed, the icx new ftw2 is 2c hotter.

Must be from FLIR thermal imaging.

Kind of what I was thinking, or maybe they did like gamernexus and attached external sensors in the same locations.

That sounds like a more definitive measurement approach. Directly from the source. Would be nice if they provided the testing method details.

Welcome to the Forum MiguelEVGAfanYou have a Great Card and it has nothing to do with ACX or iCX Cooling you have a Hybrid Cooling System.

Or since they have both cards, mount the ACX on the FTW2 card and bench away.

That wouldnt make any sense, as the entire test would be extremely flawed.. the point is the new base plate as well as the new backplate. If they did what you mention, this test would be absolutely useless.

One more time slowly. Remove entire solution from both cards, test both on the card with the new fancy sensors. The video card becomes the control in the experiment as you test one card with both coolers.

First and foremost, dont be rude. Second, and more importantly, this is a new pcb and has changed to accomodate the new sensors and the new fuse. If they dont line up perfect from old card to new, it would never work. Basically the old base plate may not have spots for the fuse and sensors, so it would possibly crush them.

Anyone know if new 1070 ICX ship with Samsung Gddr5 or same old Micron? If Samsung, I might be interested. Tried the BIOS update on my card, still can barely handle +250 without some occasional sparkly artifacts

So if your in europe well, UK specifically do I need to send my 1080FTW to the States? Also I assume the "your card must be in factory condition" doesn't apply if you have apllied thier own thermal mod upgrade?

They state when they sent the thermal pads tjat it would affect warranty, so it would still be considered factory condition. Uk region icx information will be online soon according to EVGA_JacobF. The office may be closed right now, so i would keep an eye on the website as it gets updated for EU.

With a brand new pcb, it is currently impossible to receive an old card. The old cards ca not be fit with the new sensors
