Incredible design!  Innovative and certainly one that will put thermal issues to rest with many.  However, I do have one question.  According to Gamers Nexus...the FTW issue with the VRM melting down is a flaw in the chip, not thermal.  How will ICX help solve the issue?  If the VRM chip is faulty, it will blow whether ACX 3.0 or ICX...

Certainly not taking away from the design...Just a thought.

Very nice, glad to see the number of temp sensors and easy access to them! Color coding the GPU LEDs based on the sensor temps is a nice option to have.

Is ICX going to be standard on future high-end GPUs, or will it be a special premium SKU of its own? Also will future-generation  hydro-copper models get the same tech, even if not all the fancy LEDs?

Want to get me excited about something?
    EVGA release something like this...
    https://ca.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-30TH-ANNIVERSARY.html#hero-overview

How hard can it be now that they have their own AIO and Hydro Copper?
Just make sure the Rad is 240.
Now that is a product that will sell.
Email me when it is ready, until then...yawns

I have a ACX 3.0 1070 SC. I noticed that upgrading to an iCX resets my Step-Up. Checking the Step-Up inventory, I noticed it's only ACX cards.

Here's what I'd like to do:
ACX 3.0 1070 SC --> iCX 1070 SC --> Step up to iCX 1080 or iCX 1080 Ti.

    Is this possible?

It does state that the Icx will be elligible for a 90 step up period. So, according to the exact wording, yes, that is possible.

"EVGA iCX cards received through the iCX Upgrade program are eligible for the EVGA Step-Up program for 90-days from the date the iCX Upgrade product is shipped to you. For EVGA Step-Up purposes, the value of the iCX Upgrade will be based on the MSRP value of the respective iCX graphics card listed on EVGA.com."

Unfortunately there are no plans at this time to add ICX cards to the step-up list, due to limited availability.

i just signed up for the upgrade.

the new design and features look very promising.

$100 to upgrade is a little on the steep side tho.

i'm already down $650 for my 1080 gaming sc. already did the bios and thermal upgrade, which evga provided me free advanced rma on it.

i'm quite satisfied with evga's customer service.

however, i cannot deny that this has left a sour taste in me. you know the ACX 3.0 1080s are gonna lose their value down the road if not already.

i tend to upgrade everytime a new gpu comes out by selling my  current one at about 70~75% of original value. but no way in h-e-l-l i'll be able to be close to that on a ACX 3.0 card 1 year down the road. this is the main reason i upgraded to icx. i am planning to upgrade to 1080ti as soon as it's out.

just stating my 2 cents, not hating.

I thought step up had to be to the next gen higher so, gtx 1090 for example. Not sure Ti would qualify for that. Doesn't matter to me though. Although, sense I have two cards, I would like to upgrade both, but ship one at a time without fear of running out of time. I know there is a 14 day requirement to ship the old card in, but... you know why if I payed for it in advance anyway. I just don't want to be without a pc unnecessarily.
Or, why not cross ship paying a deposit in advance?

Yes, I would pay the $100 right now.  Unfortunately in the world of a gamer... being without a card for a week is not an option.  And as I am not wealthy, I do not have a second card on hand to use while I wait.

If there ends up being a cross ship option, with a deposit I would be so stoked on this!

I purchased a card 1 week ago to find out about this iCX cooler

Am I able to do a regular step up and just cover the MSRP difference? Unless there is a promise of Samsung memory in the 1070 iCX models it's not enough features to pay 90 dollars and downtime shipping

a 100€ upgrade for a card that will be the same, only more fancy and a bit cooler...
also is it guaranteed that the new card will boost like or better than my previous ACX ? it will be a big fail if the card overclocks worst
