OMG!!!!
EK_Luc
Hi everyone!

I have a bad news for some of you.  We previously had the 04G-P4-3975 970 SSC and the 04G-P4-3978 FTW+ as compatible GPU for the 970ACX Waterblock but with the detailed pictures of ericleeee30 we have to announce that those 2 GPU won't be compatible.

When we created the block, we weren't able to have detailed images of those new PCB from EVGA and our first visual information of them were from reviews of the card from JayzTwoCents.

I'm really extremely sorry about this situation.  We will update the CoolingConfigurator to remove those 2 models from the compatibility list.

Thanks

OMG!!!! Stepped up from GTX970 SC ACX 2.0 to SSC model based on the information you gave in cooling configurator. :( Very disappointed.

My setup has waited the block like 3 months now and now there isn´t one :/

I would really like to STEP UP as well. Just got my EVGA GTX970 FTW. But am not really happy how it compared to my older EVGA GTX780Ti... plus the coil whine and the 3.5GB mem issue... huh if I could only step up to a EVGA GTX980 with the original nVidia cooler.

like I have said before lets not attack ek.  they are a niche market and if evga would send them a dummy pcb these types of things would never happen.
let us also have a little patience and be appreciative that we have a person from ek so willing to be here and offer their support.  I am sure that if you bought one of the old waterblocks ek would refund or replace that for you or maybe even put you at the front of the line for new waterblock if/when produced.

now we have bought cards from the number one producer of nvidia cards.  evga is no longer producing the old ssc/ftw and I do not foresee any more pcb revision coming from evga on this gtx970.  I would have to believe that the evga market is large enough that we will see a waterblock from ek.  of course nothing can be said till they have officially modeled a waterblock but it should only be a matter of time.

If we did not have an ek rep here they would have not known about this issue and thank god they have found out before the old water blocks were produced and delivered.  catching this fairly early will only help the community get the hardware that we want faster.

I also just wanted to add that for a company like ek the gtx970 must be a nightmare.  there is no reference gtx970 and that means that every single gpu that they want to make a waterblock for they will have to thoroughly go look at each individual card and we know that the manufacturers are not telling ek when they make a pcb change (come on nice guy evga help ek out and send them a faulty pcb or something).

Sorry for my childish actions but emotions were in control when I wrote that. My order is still in processing and I canceled it so I think it will work out pretty easy. But that´s not the thing what pisses me off. The point is that I had the compatible VGA but I stepped it up to newer one based on the information what I had. If you look at the couple pictures what I uploaded you will see that I have made a lot of work to build that setup and I want to finish it. Desk is fully handmade by me and I feel bad to keep it unfinished. Waterblock in VGA is superimportant to me and I do everything what it takes to get one. So if there is no block coming out Im gonna sell my card and buy one which I can watercool.

I apologize my rude language. I´ve get supergood customer service from EK and I think that it will continue after this mess and they will work it out somehow.

I absolutely agree with you man.  and that is a beautiful setup and I would certainly be peeved about not having it finished.  I hope we get some good news soon as to the waterblock and I firmly believe that your new card is so much better than the old one with the voltage control and all.

once again that build is inspirational, just really nice.

Now I need just patience. Littlebit more, I´ve waited the block now 3 months. Maybe I could do couple more :) We will see. And yes, this card is great.

Thanks fkrIII for the words you said it's appreciated!

But I totally understand the frustration that kisakeissi expressed.  I'm pissed off just by having to announce it so imagine how I would feel if I was an owner waiting for his waterblock!

One thing that bugs me into this story is that we specifically told people that those models would be compatible when they asked but hey that's our fault and I feel very bad about it.

I hope to have some news soon from Peter about the possibility of a future revision of the block for those missed GPU's

Yeah, I just sent my 970 ftw in for a step up to the ftw plus. Really sad to hear this.

If it were to be approved, in a broad estimate, how long do you think it would take for the block to reach market?

I so feel your pain bro. Just a week ago, I bought two of the 970 FTW+'s (none refundable, from Newegg), for the sol purpose that EK said that the block would be compatible with the 04G-P4-3975
970 SSC and the 04G-P4-3978 FTW+ cards. At the same time of buying those two cards I also bought a EK-Supremacy EVO Gold/Plexi block ,dual EK 250 X3 reservoirs and two of their EK-XTOP
D5 PWM pumps. I want to do a dual loop system for my build Im working on now, and now unless they make blocks for these two cards, I have to loss money somewhere ( either not using one of the
loops, or having to buy another set of GPU's with a compatible block ) , and frankly that just really makes me furious. I am just thankful that I noticed it the night that I stayed up waiting for the block to be available on EK's site, or else I would have wasted more money and been more upset then I already am.

I really hope that EK does not abandon the people that were anticipating on these blocks to work with the 04G-P4-3975 970 SSC and 04G-P4-3978 FTW+ cards, since EK did say the blocks would fit.

P.S. I love these cards, they are beast of GPU's but my sol purpose of spending $800 on GPU's was so I could water cool them. I choose the 04G-P4-3978 FTW+ cards for 3 reasons

1) I really like EVGA GPU's and the FTW+ cards are a big and improvement over the original 04G-P4-2978 FTW.

2) I love water cooling my components and am a huge fan of EK products.

3) EK said that their 970 ACX blocks were going to be compatible with the cards I bought.

And now the website is showing this:

If this is really true, I might have to get a 980
I wonder if evga will let me change my step-up order to a 980 possibly. They just got my card yesterday.

I guess I'll have to start looking into universal blocks then.

How well does yours work?

New to all of this, so I'm not sure about VRM's and such. I know the FTW + has VRM cooling, but is that included with the air cooler or separate?

Can anyone with experience help me?

Yesterday this mess was just misunderstanding and mistake made by EK and still fixable problem. Today when they told us that they are not gonna do anything about it, it is a big LIE and proof that companies nowadays don´t give a **** about customers. All they care about is money and profit. They can treat you well as long it´s not gonna cost them alot but when they make a mistake what is expensive to fix they raise their hands and tells us that "no can do"

I´m not a lawyer and I don´t know is this a illegal but forums are full of proofs of upcoming waterblock to these two cards. It´s not misleading or mistake. It´s pure LIE. EK cooling configurator has been a watercoolers bible but now the religion has died and bible should me buried with it. Don´t put there products what you HOPE to release in future. There should be only facts! People make big investments based on information you give us.

Those lies has made people buy 400€ graphics cards. (including me) Who pays the losses when these victims starts to sell their cards and buying a different models? We are, not EK or anyone else.

Below is the answer what I got today from EK customer service when I canceled my order and asked about compatible block release.

EK support
Dear customer,
We are sorry for the problem reported.

We have cancelled your order and refund your money on your paypal account.

Unfortunately we will not have and any waterblocks compatible with new revision of these videocards.

EKWB posts pictures of PCB for the reason that user can double check and compare PCBs before purchasing blocks.
As some manufacturers change layouts while keeping same labelling and unfortunately we were not aware of changes made by manufacturer of these videocard.

If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Lep pozdrav, Kind regards, MFG!

not gonna say who it was. It doesn´t matter.

You must be kidding me? You mean that I have to check the compatibility somehow before purchasing blocks or graphics cards? I´m sorry, it was my bad. I should understand to check it by myself. It´s not your JOB.

I´m so disappointed to this situation that I can´t find words to it. Week ago you were a best watercooling company in the world. Now you are just manufacturer which should I avoid.

Thank you very much. Really appreciate it! Kappa

That's so wrong it's hilarious.

If you look on cooling configurator, it said "visual compatibility". It never said "physical". "Visual" is a "it may or may not work, we don't guarantee it 100%". "Physical" means that the block has been physically confirmed to fit on the card.

That's like a company saying "hey were making cool tires for a car. They might be compatible with your car!". When they are released, it turns out the car manufacture made a newer version of the car, and the tires won't fit.

This is in no way EK's fault.

As much as I love EVGA, this is all on them. They could have sent PCB's to EK, or have put the effort into the FTW + originally at launch and not have 2 different confusing versions, but I digress.

I tend to agree with you here.  really wish this third revision was the first.  it caused allot of hassle with step-ups and everything else.  I also wish evga would send one of every pcb to ek.  they could ask for them back when it was all said and done then give them away or something.  evga would become the gold standard of water cooling

lastly I think for blocks that maybe ek cannot financially justify making they should start a kickstarter for the cards that would be supported and if they get enough money then they make it if not the consumer would get there money back.

Ok, didn´t notice that. I was wrong in that. It doesn´t remove the fact what we was told that there will be compatible block and we believed that.

I admit also that this mess isn´t only EK:s fault. This is a result of bad communication between the companies. I don´t know why Evga doesn´t help EK sending the pcbs physically to them. This is a loss loss situation. Nobody wins :/

I don´t want to continue this argue anymore. I´ve made my point clear and it was a disappointment. Need to move on if I want reach my goal. I made my decision and going to upgrade my card straight to the 980 hydro copper.

For the FTW+ is a custom cooler in production. If the SSC has the same layout it also could fit.
I have the same problem steped up from FTW (ek has a cooler) to FTW+ (no cooler) so a User at a german forum send it to liquidextasy.de and now we get a cooler in 2-3 Weeks.
