Just got an email regarding a step up my FTW3 to the elite, would this affect my ship date? and is there a price difference?

May 22nd... sigh... upgraded to the black version.

Don't even care about the wait

since we "upgraded" the preorder does it mean that we will still get the game code tom clancy's wildlands or for honor...
there was no mention of it anywhere.

We better still get it, suck to pay more and wait more and lose something.

I'm going to water cool it anyway so don't care about the shroud.

Wish EVGA actually offered something decent for elite members like a higher clock or something

I agree with the higher clock point.     The factory clocks on the FTW3 are not very impressive compared to the other aftermarket premium cards.

$25 and 3 extra weeks seems like a lot for just a "paint job"

Having to preorder something in order to preorder something else. I would've preordered the FTW3 if there was more transparency with the elite membership. Look at how the SC2 preorders went. What if someone who ordered a SC2 (and had it already shipped to them) wanted the elite variant?

Also would the second chance preorders for the FTW3 elite have to pay 25 dollars in addition to the regular price of 780 or the preorder price of 750? Everything was revealed last minute that I couldn't even make an informed decision. I probably wouldn't pay 55 extra dollars for color just because I passed on several opportunities at the FTW3 for 750. Probably wouldn't even buy a regular one for 780 at that point because I would feel... cucked. Having to wait even longer than may 1st/8th for the secondary elite preorder information as well as losing 30 dollars for not just preordering a month ago.

Well one good thing for the rest of us that are waiting for the pre-order ..... if most upgrade to the elite it will mean we'll get our "non-painted" ones that much faster !!!

I pre-ordered the original version and used EVGA bucks.
When I go to upgrade to Elite, the bucks are no longer applied and it is full price.

Will I lose the bucks used for the first pre-order?
Can I apply bucks to the Elite pre-order?
Are the game codes still included?

So many questions...

Well I haven't got an email about any of this yet which is frustrating, the elite cards have matching coloured backplates to right?

called evga the only difference is the shroud. fin stack is still silver. the one change though that wasnt well advertised is the shroud will be metal instead of plastic

Only reason I'm going with FTW3 is because 1) ekwb waterblocks are easy to get and 2) the warranty with EVGA is water block friendly.

Going with a zotac AMP! Extreme offers a higher clock but there won't be a waterblock for it unless bitfenix comes out with one like they did for the 1080 and even that isn't available yet.

But most importantly most other manufacturers will void your warranty if they can see you've taken the fan shroud off and replaced the Thermal paste.

It's disappointing that they don't care about EVGA Coolers, or EVGA PSU's, or anything else though, for those who are first time EVGA buyers (or at least first time original owners). I've spent quite a lot on EVGA products just this last month, before I pre-ordered this $750 card, and yet I don't qualify apparently. Very frustrating to have gotten the e-mail today that I did, only to be told I didn't later by customer service.

So the backplate is still black? Anyone know evga's stance regarding warranties of you get the shroud / backplate painted, as I can have that done cheaper and faster than waiting for an elite version.

The card has to be in the original state it came out of the box, otherwise the warranty is invalid.

second person i talked to told me they had no information stating the material of either shroud. so what is it.. metal or plastic. your cs has said both now... @jacob what are the actual differences here man? seems like a lack of info for a limited edition item with limited time to upgrade preorders....

Hmm so you can fit a water lock and as long as you replace the stock cooler you are good but removing non vital parts to paint them invalidates it? Damn that's an odd one.
Has anyone seen any pics of the backplates yet? Are they colour coded or not?

You take the WB off and put the original cooler on and send it back isn't odd.  It's still in its original state.

With the exception of possible damage caused by not fitting g something properly, where as paint is purely cosmetic and no real different I'd of thought to a scratch ?
Oh well wouldn't risk the warranty for a colour change.
Have any EU pre order people got an email regarding upgrading yet?

Newegg just confirmed my SC2 pre-order and charged my card... guess I'm not gonna get an Elite card afterall.  Oh well.

They also show SC2's in stock currently, even though they upped the price to $749.

I went through the process to upgrade to FTW 3 Elite card. Was a little taken back when after going through the whole thing, no warning of a later ship date. Until after the upgrade was accomplished, a message said Shipping begins May 22..... I was originally ready to get my card shipped May 1st. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks? I'm not too bummed, but was a bit surprised. I did upgrade to the Black version, which does look sweet! So, is this a fact, Original ship date from May 1st to May 22 the same across the board?
