Would the SR-2 fit in the Cooler Master HAF X? I think it's deeper than the HAF 932.

There is a new HAF 912 case but it's even smaller than X. Disappointed!

MGPdevil Souca Hey, my SR2 lives in a 800D and I didn't pay a dime to MM. Granted, I can't do 4 way SLI, but I couldn't afford the cards right now anyway. - Souca - Can you share what you had to remove or modify to make the board fit please? I have plans for a Lian-Li PC-P80 but since I have no plans for 4-way SLI either, the Corsair 800D case would be very attractive as well for me. Also is there any space at top for a radiator and fans like here [link=http://www.corsair.com/products/800d/800dgallery10.jpg]http://www.corsair.com/pr...800d/800dgallery10.jpg[/link] ? The metal plate that divides the PSU air space from the main airspace needs to be cut after it comes out of the drive mounts and just past where it provides a mount point for the motherboard tray. I have a ThermalTake 2x120mm radiator up top, and in there is a good deal of space up top for cooling. I used the mounting plate that came with the case, think you only get 7 of 12, but it seems solid enough. Really should take some pictures, - Souca -

According to this Lian-Li page release date is October 20, 2010. http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/...image/v2120/flyer.html PC-V2120X But I got PC-V2120S (silver). I just found out that PC-V2120X is fully anodizing both inside and outside of the case.

geort45 Hi! I'm still in the process of modding my cosmos 1000 to fit the SR-2 (which I don't even have yet!). I recreated the minimum parts of the case in solidworks in order to calculate how I needed to cut the new sheets of metal. I just needed 3 new pieces ... although one of them I didn't measure correctly and have to remake it haha... and another one was wrong too since I didn't consider another piece from one of the side covers... Aaaaaaanyway since work has been low and I'm bored I recreated more parts of the chassis to se how I'm going to put everything together. Here are some pics: I am going to order a sr-2 within the next week and modify a cosmos S to house the sr-2. Please update me if/when you successfully do this as we both have extremely similar cases, and I'm still working on the logistics for fitting the behemoth that is the SR-2.

Hi! It's great you have a Cosmo S since your 5.25 bay area is what I want haha, not the 6 HD caddies which come in the Cosmos 1000. The mod would be done by now but I made a mistake with one of the sides of the 5.25 bay area (was longer by 0.5cm) and I didn't take into account the side door which makes one of the other bigger than necessary too hehe. Now I haven't had time to do the damn pieces again haha... The mod for the Cosmos S would be much simpler, it's only a matter of replacing the piece that has the 3 oval holes in it with two pieces -which are yellow in the pics- so that the mobo doesn't touch metal. Then tall standoffs would be put in that piece to fix the SR-2 I'll post a pic of what I mean later at night :). Just remember, as seen in my pics, that you lose the bottom two PCIe slots, UNLESS we put the PSU to the front of the case and do a more complicated mod in the back to accomodate the cards :/. Maybe one of those Mountain Mods 10 PCI plates would fit, but since I won't be needing that much graphics power I won't do it... for now ;P!

I went ahead and took a couple of photos In the first pic you can see the overall size. In the second one you can see the clearance that the mobo has in regards to the bay area, it's very tight around 1cm. From the end of the bended metal piece to the very front of a standard mounted 5.25 component there are 18cm which I think is the standard depth of a DVD drive. So it IS a tight fit considering the cabling necessary.

Interesting! I can't believe the board is that big, a bit shocking as I thought I might have a bit more room between the drive bays and the motherboard. In any case, I was thinking of possibly putting the power supply where the bottom intake fan is, however, I am only toying with the idea for right now. How much work did it require to disassemble the case that far? Right now I am planning to try to keep the case as stock as possible, but I know I will have to drill holes for standoffs and probably cut up the raised area next to the drive bay area. How were you planning on mounting the PSU in front if you did? On using the mountain mods pci plate, that has crossed my mind. I am going to do as much work as I can to get this motherboard modified into the case as I can. If it comes to ordering the mountain mods motherboard plate, I supposed I will get the rest of the case powder coated to match.

Yeah damn thing it's humongous haha. The case is very easy to disassemble, just drilling off the rivets. The cosmos has a small platform below the PSU, so if I were to put the PSU in the front of the case I would rivet that platform more to the front of the case. The width of the PSU is about the same as a 5.25 drive so it fits :D. On second look, the height of the PSU would block the red SATAs and the PATA port... PATA I don't care but he SATAs yes. So mounting the PSU sideways would be the only option :/. Then, knowing myself, I'd mod an extension cord from the PSU to the back of the case and connect the power plug there (so I can't disconnect it without opening the thing)...

Yeah, its difficult to believe that the HPTX form factor takes up most of the case, my current (ATX) EVGA e758 looks completely puny in this case, compared to the SR-2. I dunno about mounting the PSU sideways...and about putting it in the drive bays for that matter as the power supply's fan needs to suck in cool air to cool off the components inside Putting the Power supply in the 5.25 inch drive bay area would render the fan far less useful (at least I think, still something to consider). Extension cord isn't a bad idea. Another thing I need to consider is getting a modular Power supply when I decide to get a better power supply. Besides the fact that its going to be difficult to find a place for the power supply, its going to look terrible with wires everywhere. ZIPTIES to the rescue!

Guys, Just letting you know that air cooling may not be suitable for Lian Li V2120 because I have dual noctuca DH14 which can't be cleared the long bar where it hold these video cards unless removed, it will be fine. Also remove the internal 140mm fan. Watercooling is the best bet for this case.

You still have the front intakes - replacing the 140mm fan behind the main HDD cage with a more powerful 120mm fan should yield nice results.

jillian2. Will the COOLMAX 1350w PSU support the board oc'd along with 2 GTX 470s? I will be doing a single card install at first but would like to add a second in the future. This would be a better choice for $200: http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16817814010 The Coolmax only has one 8 pin CPU connector & the ABS is better quality (It's a rebadged Enermax Revolution).

Alright, first post, here goes. Just built sr-2 in a Corsair 700d. No MM mobo tray. I'm pretty happy with the build. This machine is for Bunkspeed Shot rendering, set up with 4x gtx 470's, dual 5620's with mugen-2's and dual PSU's. I took a risk by buying the 700d after checking out the 800d at fry's. I was not disappointed. This case is huge! The initial build was pretty straight forward. I only had to remove the bottom baffle and the lower HDD rails. (use a sharp wire cutter to snip off the rivets) Since the video cards are only used for CUDA processing, only the top one is connected to the monitor. The bottom one just sits right above the PSU and does not align with a slot but there is a vent for the exhaust. I did have to secure the bottom card to the slot right above it with a slightly modded metal clip that came with the scythe cooler. For anyone who wants a more classic case for a decent price, (not a huge box) the 700d is highly recommended. No major modding necessary. Just buy a sharp wire cutter to remove the rivets. It took me 10 minutes to do the mod. By the way, for those of you wondering, I put the second PSU in the 5 inch bays. Plenty of room since I only needed space for one DVD burner. next step is to rout the power cord of the front PSU to the back and attach an AC receptacle, a la Lian li PC-A05. My only complaint so far: EVGA, why did you put the USB headers right under the last pci slot!? I had to cut out a huge hole in my video card! Anyone else experience this?
