They might, they might not. ES CPUs are less likely to work than even the retail CPUs (ie, the 2687W) that EVGA has not put on their "supported" list.

So I'm looking at the Asus Z9PE-D8 WS too.

Seems to be contradictory information on their product page.

The site is kind of confusing. The overview talks about having access to all 80 lanes, which could be better than the EVGA SR-X configuration. But then the Specs page says this:

4 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (dual x16 or quad x8) *1
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 *1
1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x8 mode) *1

I want to be one of the firsts to buy one!

I saw the 8 cores E5 cpu starting to be available.
What does the + sign means after the memory spec? (1600mhz+) Does it means it can take 2000 too?
would these work for example?
8GB Kit (4GBx2)  DDR3 PC3-16000 • 9-11-9-27 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-2000 • 1.65V • 256Meg x 64 • Part #: BLE2KIT4G3D2001CE1TX0

I think the first line refers to the top 4 slots which connect to CPU 1 and either run x16/x16 or x8/x8/x8/x8 depending on if you have two or four cards installed in those slots. The next two lines, I believe refer to CPU 2. If my calculation is right, grand total lane usage is 72. Perhaps the remaining 8 are connected to the PCH. I will have to read the manual some more when I have some more time.

Maybe that meeans Quad x16 PCIe 2.0 which in effect is Quad PCIe 3.0 x8. If so, that's some sneaky marketing :)

Hi.
Does the SR-X support registered ECC memory like the SR-2 does? I don´t want to overclock. System 1st priority is stability.
Currently running the SR-2 with RDIMMS and never had a BSOD.

Is it possible to disable the onboard SAS? I´m using the Areca 1882 20-port SAS with my SR-2 at the moment.

When will the SR-X be available in Europe?

Thanks for the info.

what!! which Core i7's!!! this is supported!!! folow up with some info on this please. if you can use a single Core i7 in there instead of a xeon, that might be the perfect way to sell these things to upgrade to some kind of unlocked xeons later when intel decides to play nice.  so really? you are sayin I can put 1 of these
Intel Core i7-3960X

I'm guessing that's why they don't use both CPUs for PCIE lanes.

Adding the i7's to the approved CPU list would be nice, if this is true.

yep, that would be a great reason for a lot of the wierd choices made for this board. but if it is the case, why not just come out and say it instead of giving other reasons. just confirming this info alone is a huge selling point.

Considering this is a dual-socket board, we don't want to give anyone the idea that a pair of i7's will work when JacobF explicitly said single i7; that is why it may not appear in the list officially.  It will come off as misleading if someone buys a pair of i7's because EVGA said it would work-- they didn't, but that's what the support list implies.

makes sense lehpron. but confirming a single i7 to work officially would be the tipping point for me to buy the board. if i can have some fun overclocking a single i7 chip, i would be willing to risk doing this in anticipation of a pair of unlocked xeons later with the possability that will never happen.

It is not officially supported feature though, so I cannot guarantee compatibility with future BIOS updates, etc.

Yes, but I would hope anyone spending a large sum of money on these knows the CPUs need dual QPI links for intercommunication.

Interesting enough, ORIGIN announced a workstation with a "Dual Overclocked Intel XEON E5-2687W" option.
When you select that option on the build to order page it automatically switch from the default asus mobo to another motherboard, which is... the SR-X.
Talked to a rep online, and he told me the estimate ship date is 4/24: till then they will not release OC numbers...

So there's some hope...
