Been using MSI Afterburner 4.6.2 for the longest time, only for the fan settings.  Is Precision X1 easier on the CPU or does it not matter?

Thanks

The only time I left PX1 running during a benchmark, it totally tanked my score. Much more than AB.

Afterburner for the most part unless you need px1 for lighting.

Unless they fixed something in Afterburner, it never ran the fans on my EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 card correctly. Always had an issue with the 3rd fan not running at the correct speed. I've just stuck with PX1 since.

X1 since it’s got the EVGA firmware updates attached to it. After a year or so it might not matter as much but for now with a new card it’s best to have firmware updates.

    Afterburner.

3rd fan is not an issue with new drivers and the right settings. Actually, Precision used to do the same thing too.

I am working AB latest version with fan control etc no problems whatsoever. I don't bother with PX1 because it usually breaks more stuff than it fixes.

What things does it tend to break? I've just started using it and it seems fine so far - be good to know what to look out for.

Also, if it has a performance impact, how do I make the profile settings stick whilst it's closed? As soon as I close it the card reverts to stock.

I have been using the Precision X1 for my fan settings and other settings. Works far easier for me than afterburner did.

I found the opposite, AfterBurner for whatever reason simply wouldn't work for me so I played around with The Precision X1 instead and found it worked far better for my needs. The post above has the link to my findings. I havent seen anything break at all with Precision X1, at least not yet.

Look in settings it can be set to load up previously set setting to the card when computer starts up.

Thanks, and I just replied to your other thread, very useful.

As for Afterburner not working for you - did you definitely get the beta version from the 3DGuru website? That's the only one that supports Ampere cards as far as I'm aware. The main version does not, and produced very weird results for me.

I'm using a non beta version of Afterburner on my MSI RTX 3070 with no issue.

When Precision X updated just after I installed the 3080ti it also triggered the firmware it scared the **** out of me when it made aloud warning sound and the red  lights flashed on.....it did its thing and finished the update then was all was good.

Hrmm the one I used the link was supplied by a friend who was using it for their card. Not sure which version it was, I recall it being a latest version and what others were using.

AB without riva tuner. Precision has given me probs in the past. Went AB and never looked back.

EVGA Precision X1 for me is the only purpose for LED lighting.
I barely can't tell the difference.

PX1 as it does everything I need and more.  AB offers me nothing extra that I would benefit from.

I should also mention I always have GPU-Z & HWinFO64 up on my other monitor along with PX1 when gaming to watch things. I don't use OSD as I feel it takes away from the game. I don't use HWM within PX1 either.

Personally, I use AB with RTSS and HWiNFO. Gives me everything I need to monitor my GPU and OC it. PX1 looks pretty, and you can OC with it, but I hate the OSD.
