Hi All,

All of a sudden my card is spiking like crazy on the Max Power Temp. Nothing has changed in the computer. Card is a week old.

Any help would be appreciated. It's going from 30 - to 99 all the time.

Thanks.

Looking at your picture, the fans are not spinning.

Have you tryed forcing the fans to spin at like, lets say 50% to start with?

Also personally, as I don't overclock because the cards performance is good as it is, I would say chsnge the priority to temperature and drop that to 70-75C

They start spinning once it hits over 45 degrees. That was captured just as it changed back down to 30.

Try changing the priority to temperature and drop
It a few degrees. Than boot something and get some load on the GPU, see if that changes anything.

iCX is very new, but I would hazard that that is a bad sensor.

Give support a call/email to get their take on it - http://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

Yeah, that is strange that it is spiking like that.

I agree with arestavo that it could be a bad sensor.

It could also be a software bug. Does the power fan kick on at all when it reads 99-103c?

Have contacted support and raised a ticket, just waiting on a reply.

The fan turns on for either a second or a few seconds then shuts back off. The sensor jumps from anywhere in the 30's straight to 80, then the highest I saw it was 110. Uninstalled the drivers, didn't help sadly. Re-seated the card as well.

It has to be a faulty sensor, feeling the card there is no heat near where that sensor should be. If it's reading 100+ I would expect some sort of heat there.

    Definitely a faulty sensor then.

you could see if support will do an cross ship rma for you then you won't be out of a gpu in the mean time. as long as you can handle a pending charge on you're credit card

    Hi All,

So I've come home to remove the card awaiting RMA approval and found the below sitting above the sensor (This was not there last night after re-seating the card). Looks like a thermal bad may have melted, plus some plastic? I have called support and explained what I have found.

I have an AIO Corsair Cooler, but there is 0 leaks in the tube and would imagine it would be everywhere as you can see from the picture there is nothing, not even a spill or drop on the tubing either. My CPU temps are fine and cooler is acting normal so there is definitely no leaks from that otherwise I'd have fans going nuts and liquid spraying everywhere.
Support mentioned that there shouldn't be as much as I explained. There's around 2ml of liquid and looks green, but when touched it's a clear oil liquid. I'm not sure what else to do now?

This post is more for a reference and documentation for RMA team, if they ever look at this.

    Hi All,

I would like to apologise to everyone and EVGA. After searching and searching and ripping everything out of the PC i found some more green liquid around the AIO. (see below - can see it around the base of the cooler and dried on the tubing)

Looks like my cooler leaked all over the card (3 weeks old :( ) I will now be contacting Corsair to see what they will do.

Thank you everyone and EVGA Support.

That's really unfortunate.  At first I thought, that must be a ton of heat but questioned if you were running any type of liquid cooling above it as you later posted you did.

Sup3rfly1788 You are a true and onest person. Admiting it came from the aio water cooler driping on the card and showing photos of it. U should do a RMA and get a new card in return. Onesty pays.

only way he can get a new card is if Corsair pays now

Thank you! Really appreciate the kind words mate. I don't expect EVGA to replace a card that has been damaged by another manufactures faulty part.

Very true. I'm assuming I will have to send the damaged card to Corsair first so the can inspect it themselves and see where it goes from there I guess.

I will update you all when I hear something from Corsair :)

Did you buy the GTX1080 SC2 with a credit card?  Many years ago certain UK credit card companies used to advertise that they gave several months accidental damage cover for purchases made with their cards.  It's a long shot, but it might be worth checking the small print to see if your card company does that.

    Hi All,

Thanks for the support everyone. Appreciate it.

Sadly it just gets worse, after removed left over cables from the cooler and finding my stock CPU cooler, booted PC up and all of a sudden USB Device errors. Device manager was going nuts. Then I remebered I disconnected the coolers USB connection...guess what?! Green coolant all inside the bottom 2 USB connectors. Mobo won't even post now.

Can see the residue around the bottom.

Inspect all your gear, particular in the leak zone if you will and sent all that to Corsair.  They should compensate you np.  I've dealt with their CS in the past along with EVGA's during a nasty MB blowout that took a few things with it and all was taken care of by both parties.
