As long as it's applied correctly (without any friction/flaws) you definitely don't need to. Just make sure your GPU is cleaned properly with isopropyl alcohol or thermal paste remover. I always use a thermal paste remover and then a surface purifier to make it look and feel completely untouched.
I'm used to using alcohol and a coffee filter but not familiar with a surface purifier. Link plz?
Alcohol is not good at all for cleaning paste. I don't know how people success to clean with that. It's not much easier than with normal water... Isopropyl is perfect or Arctic Cleaner. People could think that Arctic Cleaner not worth before they use once, than they will never change paste without that. First time when I bought everybody ask me and fast I stayed with empty bottle of Cleaner. Later I bought and now I keep for self. It's not problem price, but I need every time to import from other countries and worth only if I order something more. Or shipping is more than product.

I just added it to my cart. It's $479.99 minus a $50 mail in rebate.

I don't understand why EVGA has to be the last when it comes to Watercooling cards. I've been waiting for 1080 Hybrid since the day Nvidia announce the 1080 and still we got no update from EVGA, all they telling us so far is ''soon'' but 2 months is no where to be ''soon'' I'll wait one more week, then i will completely give up on hope for EVGA.
Would be nice if a mod can confirm that it wont be this month so you save my time, thank you!

I clean my paste off with mentholated alcohol. Get at any hardware store in the paint department. Nice and cheap as well. Edit- Denatured Alcohol. Pretty powerfull stuff. I use it and lint free cloths. Can also be used in an old fashioned camp stove.

I think people are mixing up names. some might say they use "alcohol" to clean their cpu/gpu. but they actually are using/meaning "Isopropyl Alcohol". It's what i use, right now i think my current bottle is 91%, but if you have the option to get 99%, might as well.

I am tempted for that 980Ti Hybrid... But (hopefully) this close before the 1080 comes out I will keep my feet still. The 300€ higher price might not be justified by the performance, but well.. 70W lower TDP will hopefully keep my room a bit less hot and the 8GB keep it a bit more future-proof :>

i sold one of my 980ti's last month for $550, this is tempting me too. 980ti SLI setup was pretty good for 4k.... or wait for a 1080 hybrid, with intent to get a 2nd a year from now or so.

I'm seriously thinking about that 980ti Hybrid at $429.99 and eventually upgrade to the inevitable 1080ti Hybrid next year.

Well for me it would be 530€ - compared to hopefully ~800€ for the 1080 Hybrid (FTW is at 769) (all prices including taxes). I know the 980Ti probably would be more reasonable... But that feeling not getting the best thing possible is annoying xD Oh, and I have this plan to keep it for at least 5 years... So upgrading to a 1080ti in a year is not really an option xD

I don't want to be that conspiracy guy, but it's almost like they have the 1080's chillin' in their warehouse and they are waiting until they can get rid of their 980 ti inventory to release the hybrid. I know that doesn't make sense. It's just a funny thought that has crossed my mind.

They've always said mid July. I pre-ordered the card at Overclockers UK on the 28th May, so I feel your pain. EVGA's launch has been particularly woeful compared to the other brands. I'm worried they'll end up releasing the Classified before the Hybrid because the FTW cards that used the same PCB as the Hybrids are in huge demand so they might try to delay the Hybrid for as long as possible.

Darn. i can feel your pain as i am also not in the u.s. I use a forwarded to ship my packages from u.s. to my country(island) Curacao. Meaning if i pay 429.99 on evga site i'll have to pay another 85dollars to get it in my hand. If i buy an evga hybrid 1080 and its for 750 dollars for example, thats probably gonna be an extra 100 dollars to get it in my hands. So it sucks for me lol. Here they are selling 980ti's for 700dollars...

the seahawk x are using the founders pcb if im not mistaken while the seahawk ex are using the msi gaming pcb. While the evga hybrid is using the ftw pcb..... Yeah you are right with the Sea Hawk... And as I am going to holidays next tuesday for 10 days, it would be enough if I could get my hands on the EVGA Hybrid in 14 days... Hmm it probably won't happen, but I waited so long it would be a shame to stop waiting now xD I hope I can order it before my holidays so I don't have to check the stores every day while I should relax...

not to mention gigabyte's AIO full water coverage card being out by thursday I think at 769.99 over on newegg with that 1936 OC mode...COME ON EVGA! too bad I don't like the looks of gigabyte's card, but still, very tempting... though I'm sure EVGA/jacob will randomly announce it and ninja drop on the spot within a week, I just hope all of this waiting lead to a healthy stock.

I was about to go with SeaHawk X too, but for no apparent reason MSI delayed shipment for that model so now I have either to wait until 29 July or hope to get an Hybrid card before that day.

Unfortunately the Hybrid is going to be in limited quantity just like all the other cards that are for sale which is going to make many of us frustrated, including myself.

I would go with 2x980ti planning to upgrade within 2 years. In my case I won't be able to upgrade until 3/4 years, so I'm going with 1080.

I actually bought GTX 1070 SeaHawk X and send it back immediately, it had a ridiculous coil whine in my silent build. The second problem was the fan no where to be controlled base on the GPU temp. Other wise the card peformed well, i didn't OC it manually i only used the MSI app. My low temp was 30C and max 49-54C (depend on the fan RPM) it was running 1200RPM most of the time giving me a result of 54C. And yes it was so quite i could've hear a small coil whine even when not gaming. If my first EVGA card dream wont happen then i will still go for the MSI instead of Gigabyte Waterforce, simply because you have to cut the fan cable in order to install a custom one which make no sense in my opinion.

So, the Waterforce fan can't be changed out unless you cut and re-wire? That's pretty stupid for a card that cost that much. I wonder how loud the stock fan is.

Yeah, wow, I didn't know that about Gigabyte's card--if I can't put my Gentle Typhoon on it, do not want.
