Just a quick note for anyone looking into getting the body without the pump. I keep seeing on retailer sites that this reservoir body is compatible with D5 and DDC pumps. Some retailers even state it's compatible with all D5 and DDC pumps but I found out the difficult way that is not true.

Long story short, you need an EK brand pump for this body.
EKWB support would not confirm this body works with any other brand but assured me it would with EK pump variations and recommended their G2 D5. So I bought one and tested it.

While I did not test any DDC pumps on this I am assuming, based on my testing with D5 pumps, that it will be the same result.

Why is the pump recirculating so much air right back into the pump?  Seems like the reservoir has a design issue if the outlet so easily goes right back into the pump inlet.  What's the purpose of a huge reservoir if the liquid doesn't circulate through the reservoir?

IDK and won't until I get that thing mounted. I agree it looked like a lot of air was trapped in there but during filming it was literally the first couple minutes of it running. I am hoping and assuming, according to what EKWB says, that the air will work it's way out after running once it's in the full loop and oriented properly. Laying it on it's side was not ideal for getting rid air bubbles. I plan to mount it vertically in the system...if I can ever find a gpu to buy.  As it is right now, that's the only part holding up a new build.
For the new build, I'm just waiting on a gpu and then this can be put to use:

I plan to mount the reservoir vertically sort of like this:

Right? There are also 2 x 480mm radiators under that pile along with clear rigid tubing and the dyes I have for the loop.
It's like I'm missing the top ornament on the tree.

This is frustrating waiting to build. My current gpu is artifacting and I am really hoping I can get either a 3080 or a 6800 XT before my 1080TI dies as it's out of warranty.
