I am attempting to setup two monitors with a DVI and HDMI cables, my monitors are kind of old and didn't come with displayport.  Which ever monitor is plugged in using the DVI cable works, the monitor plugged in using the HDMI cable just displays a black screen with no error message but the computer detects that it is plugged in and allows me to orient and set the monitor priorities.  I've tried three different HDMI cables I had laying around the house and none of them worked.  Prior to my 1080 I had two 570s in SLI running with two DVI cables and that worked fine.  Anyone have any suggestions as to what the issue is?

(currently at work, exact specs to come)
OS:  Windows 7
Monitor1: ASUS VG236HE
Monitor2: ASUS VW246H

Welcome to the Forums! What model monitors are you using with this new card? Also what version of Windows are you running?

The obvious that I must ask.. are you changing to the right input on the monitor as in the one with HDMI?
Plus seated all the way in on both connections? Does your HDMI cable have an arrow showing which direction the connection flow goes?

Can you hit the identify acreen button in the nvidia control panel and see a number pop up on the tv either 1 or 2?

Yeah in the control panel i can see both monitors as 1 and 2 and change them.  I'll have to try changing the input on the monitor when I get home.

Sounds like the hdmi output on the card may be faulty.

See nothing wrong with either monitor.. hope it's as simple as switching inputs on the monitor side.

Like AHowes is suggesting, have you checked to make sure HDMI is enable as the receiving input on the monitor? If all is well and good on the computer side and it recognizes the monitor, then make sure the monitor itself is set to receive on the hdmi channel rather than dvi.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for their timely response.

It was the input.  I feel like a dunce, but I'm relieved it wasn't a more complicated issue.  Cheers.
