I am planning on doing a PSU upgrade from G3 650W to G3 1000W. Was wondering if I can just unplug the cables from the 650W PSU end and reattach the existing cables to the 1000W PSU without using the newer cables?

You can use the same cables between the two units without issue. Fully compatible.
