The new EK 980KPE water blocks do not fit?

This makes me sad.

In light of recent events, I may turn my blocks into RGB blocks. Why not, right? I may tell how later. *edit* Currently the cables are too tall to make it work...

And wait EKWB at this moment sell incompatible block for graphic card.
This was amateur mistake... But what now, 980 KPE will not get waterblocks or will get when GTX980Ti become available for same price 30% stronger and with 2GB more video memory. And block look really nice with flat part under 8+8+6 pin connectors, black and silver.

Bitspower have waterblock but it's more expensive and not even close so nice as EKWB...
And for KPE is nicer block than from 980 Classy because cover all card from front to the end and because flat part bellow connectors.
But I don't understand one thing now...
Block is not compatible but EKWB still sell him and offer and for few weeks someone who don't know will cry here.

I'm not angry at all. I'm cool completely... I only say...
... because other people and because such cards need water block for gaming or open case or Caselabs Magnum.
Because my temperature difference are up to 15C between open and closed side panel and I never had problem with overheating previous cards. Such cards need waterblock or bench table, or simply you remove panel and no problems.
But expecting to case fans stops overheating is bad, because case fans not speen on 3000RPM and not inject 5C air inside case.
Gaming on cards with so high clock reach higher temperature than benchmark tests because in benchmark tests some period work CPU and temp drop, than increase again... in games constantly GPU work full power. I never had plans for watercooling because CPU...
Only because GPU.
Thing is simple if block is not compatible remove him from shop.

Did you read the news I linked???

It clearly state "The sale of the blocks is halted and we are working hard on delivering an updated version of the blocks that would fit all revisions."

Ahhaaa That's better, because Bitspower block will not satisfied all customers, people liked Acetal + Nickel version.
Look somehow stronger and more reliable, more durable on scratch, etc...

I was quite unpleased when I got my ek blocks and it didnt fit. SO I modified it, it wasn't a tough thing to do. Took me about 30mins to do both blocks, with very crude tools. Ek letting me keep my warranty in light of circumstances works out pretty well for me. You can't see the modifications in my build and the blocks perform very well and still look sick as hell.

Now I need to find out if modifying the backplate will void my evga warranty.

I modified another part of my block top. :-D I have to figure out how to bend rigid tubing so that I can finish getting this built and show off what happened.

Hello everyone,

We apologize for the situation at hand. It's unfortunate that it happened this way but we have a resolution. All future water blocks will be of course modified to take into account the test pins.

FOR CURRENT OWNERS YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS:
Option 1 - Modify the EK block: if you modify ONLY the part of the block that is obstructing the pins, your warranty from us will not be voided.

Option 2 - Modify the EVGA PCB: We have received official confirmation that if you cut the test pins on the 980 KPE, your warranty on the card will remain intact.

We again apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and hope that this helps clear the situation up.

Hi Everyone,

I can also confirm that the below statement is accurate, but please understand that you need to be careful when doing this, if you should decide to.  If you should slip or cause any damage to the PCB besides just cutting these pins it would not be covered under warranty. I would also like to mention that you would not want to do this when the card is plugged in or powered on.

Please also do not bend these pins, unless you can do it where they will not make contact with anything conductive and will not touch each other, as you do not want them to touch each other during use.

Option 2 - Modify the EVGA PCB: We have received official confirmation that if you cut the test pins on the 980 KPE, your warranty on the card will remain intact.

** PLEASE NOTE ***

While we are supporting customers with this allowable modification under warranty, if you should decide to modify the product, you may not return the product for a Refund.

The product will be considered outside of its factory condition and not eligible for a credit return.

That mean problem is resolved and with little patience you will install watercooling properly.

A BIG thanks to EVGA & especially Chris Bencivenga who took action on an email and turned it into a solution.

No blame just solutions. Big thanks to EK also for stepping up and haltings sales as soon as they got the word.

Bye bye pins..

EDIT: There should be a third solution from Ek for those who modded there blocks before this was posted......EK should allow them at no cost, to exchange their blocks for a new version when it is released.

kpex2c is only bios worth a **** with voltage sigh, so unstable of a bios but getting into the 1700+ with it lol. Kpex4c is worse than the stock oc bios for me, regardless of driver version. Think I got my day to day setup going. 1580mhz @ 1.37 volt on load and 4100 on the vram. Even with my blehhhh temps on water, gpus aren't going past 45c on full load after looping valley for an hour.

Anyone have the correct screw size and length for adapting the EVGA backplate to fit yet?

m3 screws wont pass thru. You need to enlarge from waht i tried. But 6mm should be fine. Ek screws are 4mm. The 2mm should make up for the backplate

You all want backplates?  I can do backplates..  I will do them soon as a matter of fact.. but for now, why not go full RGB instead..

Let me get the water running and test the system to make sure it even displays through the blocks, so I don't waste everyone's time, then I will tell how.  For now, it is just an experiment honestly.

I REALLY hope to have the system fully functional this weekend so I can test the waterblock for Nateman_doo as well as test the system in general.

Looking forward to seeing that MONSTER finished with the light show!  I too will work at getting mine done, planning on sinking my radiator in actual
ice and water for some suicide runs first.... works well Haha

Psssh, ice water.. I bought LN2 pots with these cards for a reason... :-)  These cards are the expensive ones, so I will start testing with the "cheaper" ones first.
