Debian Project is advising Skylake and Kaby Lake users to turn off hyperthreading due to the 6th and 7th generation processors creating issues under certain conditions which cause compiler and application crashes as a result of defective microcode.

I read this earlier this morning.  So glad I'm in no rush to upgrade...

You and me both, Glad I went ahead and played around with the AMD RYZEN 7 1800X instead.

With this "We strongly recommend that you should not re-enable hyper-threading
until you install a BIOS/UEFI update with this fix." Another Info Link

I Wonder if any Crunchers have seen this issue on their Rigs?

I wonder if a new Bios is going to come out for all the EVGA Motherboards that this may cause issues with.
This time users have to blame Intel and not the Board Makers.

Anyone know what Motherboards from EVGA that may be affected by this Intel Issue?

I have not had any suspicious crashes since upgrading two months ago. I just use it for gaming and web browsing nothing serious nor important. If I start to experience this bug I will disable hyperthreading then.

I read yesterday that there was a fix for Linux but not for the Windows systems, so only the windows systems need to keep it off.
    https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/06/skylake-kaby-lake-chips-have-a-crash-bug-with-hyperthreading-enabled/

"Updated microcode drivers for Linux are available. At the time of writing, the Windows microcode driver does not appear to contain the fix. On the system I'm using, at least, the driver was last updated in March. Insider builds of Windows have a newer driver, updated in June, but that, too, does not appear to include the updated microcode. Although Microsoft does not appear to document which updates are included in each driver version, the information is visible in a hex editor or similar tool; the Linux microcode updater includes four microcodes not found in the Windows driver, including the ones necessary to address this problem."
