Hello. As I'm sure you're being bombarded with violent complaints, and probably even death-threats, I'm not going to do that.
What's the point? Won't put the card in my mailbox. And I was even willing to pay extra for over-night shipping!
But I am going to express my anger and displeasure at how everything went down.
I was one of the few that was able to add the 3080 Ultra to my cart. I was INCREDIBLY excited when I saw that I was on the "Shipping and Billing" section, and I had hit checkout. I was even able to get to the part where I could pay! But to my chagrin, I was hit with red text saying ONE CARD ALLOWED PER HOUSEHOLD. PLEASE EDIT CART.
This was a shock to me. Because I did add only ONE card. I had hit the Add to Cart button, then after some time got through.
I tried again and got the same message. ONE CARD ALLOWED PER HOUSEHOLD. I tried to go back to edit my cart, hitting all the same errors and roadblocks, only to find that my cart was EMPTY.
I ask you this: If you can REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM MY CART, why couldn't you just automatically REMOVE ONE CARD from my cart and let me purchase the ONE CARD that I wanted? This is VERY unacceptable.

Frankly I think they should reserve cards for 10 minutes (so people can complete a purchase) ...if you get a card in your cart, it's yours for 10 minutes.

It's funny you say that. I know there's no pre-orders, but I said the same thing to a friend of mine while this was going on. Put it in your cart, and you have {time} to check out or else it goes to the next person. Even a queue type system! "We see you've added an item we don't have in stock. Please wait {time} and you MAY get one." Or even something like "Hey! Sorry you didn't get one! We only had {#stock}. You're {#stock+n} to get a card and it should be available soon!" SOMETHING like that. So many ways to handle this better.

Just relax and play some classic games on your current GPU. You don't need the latest and greatest to enjoy PC games. EVGA is working hard to get cards out the door and you can't let a minor technical issue ruin your day.

It's more the piss-poor way it was handled. They knew it was going to be a Sh-show. Load balancing, spinning up additional servers temporarily, queue system. I'm not even mad that I didn't get one. I'm mad at the way it was handled when there's a thousand and one ways to make things much smoother. I'm in DevOps and IT. I've dealt with similar issues. I know it could've been handled better.

Being beaten by bots that bombard a seller site like a Dos attack causing it to hang and then crash is NOT a minor technical issue, that the result of very badly played launch by a Company that should know better. and I suspect the same S""t will happen again for the 3090. grr.

You aren't wrong, there are plenty of games available and enjoyable with current GPUs. No one needs this new product. But this product was marketed at us and we were sold on it, and now we feel betrayed by nvidia and evga as consumers. There will be a lot of negative emotions, no need to minimize that. The emotions are justified. This was planned poorly. Also, 'relax' is a trigger phrase that doesn't relax the people you say it to.

Good thing it's only 45% slower. You want to talk about obsolete? My 980 Ti is obsolete as it started struggling to run new games at 60fps this year.

Yeah you can wait, and as someone who's looking for a hybrid version that's my plan. The point is EVGA would lose nothing by having some (very basic, well established) systems in place to make sure regular customers can get hold of the cards as well as / instead of scalpers. It's not as if they make any money off those extortionate resales, and either way they'll sell all the cards, but it would buy them a lot of goodwill (especially from repeat customers) and would make them a go-to for future releases.

I sided with Moore's Law is Dead on youtube, and didn't even join the bustle this morning. I have to wait for when these things get restocked, even if they are going to be worse quality than the ones on launch. However, there is going to be a 3080 with 20GB of VRAM that will be going for 1000 when it comes out sometime over the next month. Maybe that will be the one to go for. If it really does come out, I would feel sorry for the people buying the 3090 for 1600-1700 that has only 4GB more of VRAM, compared to the 1000 for a new 3080 with 20 GB of VRAM. This whole launch is just a giant F you to the cutomer in my opinion... I'm really leaning towards AMD now. The whole point of this launch is to get more money out of the cards and inflate prices for when they decide to release more stock. That was the only point of this launch. They were not trying to sell these things to everybody, they were trying to cultivate a frenzy and they succeeded.
TL;DR
Wait Until October for when the 20 GB and 16GB cards come out, NVidia is purposefully releasing low numbers of stock to artificially inflate the price via AIB manufacturers over the coming month and a half to increase margins. This is artificial scarcity, and stocks will magically reappear around AMD's launch.
