It should help. Rendering the game at half the native resolution, or close to half, allows for greater FPS, which is the way people measure performance.

I found that it also seems make the screen smother running (Looking) while gamming.

This is glorious news.  I might switch back to Ultra settings from High as I recently switched since I couldn't stand the frequent stutters during a firefight that gets you killed.  It runs much smoother now but with this update it should help immensely.

Anybody wonder what happened to the last great tech breakthru by Nvidia  ?    DSR  .. https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/dsr , https://www.geforce.com/h...hnology/dsr/technology

Our new Maxwell architecture introduces a raft of innovative, exciting technologies that make your games better in dramatic ways. Of these new features, Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) will have largest impact, enhancing any game that supports resolutions above 1920x1080. What does DSR do? Simply put, it renders a game at a higher, more detailed resolution and intelligently shrinks the result back down to the resolution of your monitor, giving you 4K, 3840x2160-quality graphics on any screen

Remember how awesome that was going to be...?   No one ever mentions how great that is, nor is it being developed/ improved after the 10x series cards...

Why do they keep coming up with 'tech' and then dropping active support for it after a couple of gens...?

DSR has its uses, and you can still use it today.

My favorite is Multi-Monitor Projection, still. NVidia really pushes that at its launch, and nothing ever supported it as far as I can tell.

Anyway, let’s not fully derail this thread. Anyone that wants DLSS should try running their game at a step down for resolution, and they can see what kind of performance they will get with the DLSS release. (4K -> 2K/1440p, 1440p->1080p). The antialiasing that is applied after the step down in resolution will be the only difference.

Also, Final Fantasy XV has DLSS, and watching few videos made by non Nvidia employees, there is some strange things that happen with fences and such as it renders in, and the tensor cores/figure out which frames to pick and choose as it tries to reconstruct and upscale the image from the lower resolution.

With how the launch of DXR/Ray Ttacing went with BFV, I am hoping Nvidia actually showed the devs, and helped them, get DLSS ready for launch in BFV. If not, it will be just like the ray tracing launch where is isn’t as impressive as it should be.

DSR to 8k on a native 4k monitor then DLSS to get the best anti aliasing at 4k with a performance increase.

I will use the following GIF as my reaction to the DLSS in BF V

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Im more interested in proper SLI support. If they actually did dx12 sli I would have been able to experience ray tracing from the beginning.......

Yet here i am with sli ftw3 cards and cant even use their main feature unless i want a massive downgrade in fps and resolution
I have been looking forward to DLSS though if it will allow me to play at 4k and around 80fps. Im guessing it will be closer to 4k 60fps tho which i consider a disappointment and makes me frustrated that i cant use the second card

So much for the update.....been anxiously waiting.

Edit: Just checked again and updating as we speak.

Edit#2: Butter smooth.  A few times my PC RAM spiked a bit thanks to Google Chrome and its tabs up the wazoo I have on one screen but it was really nice to go back to Ultra settings from High and get a boost in FPS.  Hope to see more improvements down the road.

BFV DLSS patch won't work without installing GeForce 418.91 and rebooting

I installed 418.91 and then downloaded the patch.  Now, with 2080 XC Gaming at 1440p...I am seeing 70-95 fps depending upon the scene.  The busier the scene, I will see 70-75...even had a few scenes where fps hit 100, but not many of them.  Not seeing too much blurriness.

Well, I downloaded the BF5 patch first then 418.91 but that should not make a difference. I still cant access DLSS.

HOWEVER---- my BF5 fps has dropped from 72 (half rate of 144 monitor) at Ultra settings all the way down to 11 fps. I played bf5 after the patch but before .91 and all was OK. Downloaded .91 played again and fps down to 11.

Seems I battle nvidia and origin more than playing the game......

I'll uninstall .91 and hope the game is restored. Otherwise I was never able to access DLSS.

As a 1080 Ti user I cant speak about the Nvidia "make believe" features...

As for the Patch itself, the game netcode "update" has pandered to people who cant play on their side of the planet and/or keep decent fps
DICE has outdone itself with making sure its devs (and all the other idiots) can play on any server in the world and look good.
Too bad it -completely- ruins the gameplay for people who can run the game very well and ping under 10

The hacks were bad enough, but now this netcode update makes playing ridiculous
Yeah---> the kid from china pinging 600 on daddys laptop pushing 25-40fps owned everyone at 52-12.... (and I spectated him, he was not cheating)

Might be time to shelve this game--> If your ping is above 150 or you can't run the game well, this patch is total player heaven from DICE

*also be warned, something in the patch is causing -very- high temps in some of the lobby features.

I downloaded the drivers first...then the patch.  Try reinstalling 418.91 again and see if DLSS appears.  It is just below the RTX settings

what happens when you use dlss at native resolution?
instead of a blurry upscale do i get a sharp super sampled image?
I just saw a DLSS video online for metro (great performance but blurry) and since i run sli im wondering if im better off simply using native res and then applying dlss
