So I recently received a 230mm Cooler Master red LED fan from saer...The fan runs perfectly, with the exception of the red LEDs. Now, this fan came with a 3-pin and a 2-pin connector on it...I plugged the 3-pin into my motherboard, but I don't know what to do with the 2-pin. Is the 2-pin for the red LEDs? Honestly, the cable is VERY short. It wouldn't even be able to reach the motherboard from where it's installed. I really am not sure what to do. I'd like to have the red LEDs on the fan working...

The 2 pin looks like this:

3 pin looks like this:

Again, the fan has BOTH of those...and I want to know if anyone knows how to get the red LEDs to function.

My CM Storm Scout case has 2 CM red LED fans and the extra cable connects to an LED-on/off switch on the top of it. They do not connect to the motherboard. I can turn the LEDs off if they bother me without turning the fans off. This is a Cooler Master factory setup.

Since I don't see what case you are using in your sig, I don't know if you have those internal case connectors. If it is a Cooler master case, many of them have this switch and you just have to find the matching connector in the bundle of wires that comes from the control panel in front of the case. Post what you have and I'll see if I can help.

If it's not a CM case, I'm sure you can rig something up, but I'm no electrician... ask on a Cooler Master forum? Someone here may know how to do it. It'll probably involve some splicing of wires and you'll need to be careful.

on the 2 pin, try plugging the 3 pin into a power supply adapter (so your not messing with the motherboard) then put a bent paperclip into the 2 pin holes, shorting it. do this with pliers or something so you dont get shocked if im wrong but if im right, then just like the bitfenix fans, that wire is for an LED controller. my bitfenix fans came with these:

of course id say do this carefully, if LEDs dont come on, take it out. but this is my best guess.

You can get a connector and wire it to a switch so you can controll the LEDs.
