First off can someone please tell me the difference between the BE SC version of the 2080, and the 2080 BE? I was assuming my BE was EVGA's version of the reference 2080 with "reference clocks" but when I went into the Nvidia Control Panel, I saw that the Debug Mode button was not grayed out, and allowed me to click on it. I didn't - not yet. I changed the extra power plugs on my PSU around to see if that was the problem. It did make things go away for about 1 hr. I continue to get black screens causing the PC to crash - it requires reboot of the PC.

I have a EVGA 800 watt gold. Clicking on debug mode did make things go away. I'm writing this to see if anyone else is having black screens as well? I found some other users on other sites mention they had the black screens causing the PC to crash, but not on here. One user on another site mentioned that he RMA'd his card, and got a new one, but he continued having black screens and PC crashes (requires reboot). So far for me (I'm still testing it with Debug mode) I haven't crashed with debug mode on.

That brings me back to the beginning. What's the difference between the regular 2080 BE, and the 2080 BE SC version?

Is this a possible situation that we had with the 980 SSC back in the day where EVGA had to change the entire layout of the PCB to make the card(s) stable? Or am I just a lucky soul?

I believe the only difference between those two cards is the out of box clock speed. The xc is slightly higher than the regular black edition. The trim pieces on the regular black edition are also black instead of white like on the xc card. Sounds like you need to test the card in another known good pc to verify where the actual issue is coming from. If the issue follows the card to another pc you'll know it's the card.

Acer Xb270H Gsync 144hz. I just turned off the debug mode, and it crashed again. I didn't have this issue with my 980s. This issue just started happening about a month ago, the card was working fine, and all of a sudden the pc kept freezing would freeze (intermittently), and then black screen.

Ok, thanks Sajin. Unfortunately, I may have to take it to a friend to do further tests in that regard.

Well... after months and months of tinkering, messing, playing games, and playing games with my system - it's not the rtx 2080. After dealing with tech support, they suggested I buy a new power supply. It came to this because I put in my old 980, and I was getting the same results. I'm still having the same problems, but, it was "concluded" that my new 1000 watt psu fixed the problem, but I still had black screens with the 2080. I didn't think to switch back to the 980 until a couple week ago to see if I was getting the same results. It's not the 2080, it's not the 980, and it's not my new 1000 watt psu - it's the motherboard. Being 6 years old (maybe 7, when was x79 dark released?) I think I get my time's worth, and it's time to focus on a new system.

If the motherboard lasted you 6-7 years that is quite excellent. You can find X79 classified EVGA motherboards on auction sites if you wish to go that route unless you want a completely new upgrade.

MB is causing the issue ? - at least you figured it out ... though I wonder why the MB is the cause

Thanks guys. YA RJ, I've been kicking this thing for this long, trying to see if there was any tweaking or settings I could mess with in the bios that could fix it. I wasn't going to give up the power of the Dark, haha. It is definitely time for me to renew some hardware.

I've been looking at the EVGA motherboards, and right now I can't decide whether to stick with quad channel ram or just stick with dual channel. I'll admit i'm one of those guys that has the theory (phenomenon if you want to call it that) that quad channel memory "helps" with micro stutter. Whether that's true or not, I can't prove it. If anyone can show me that dual channel is enough for me (It's a gaming computer, internet stuff, no hardcore benchmarking or crunching, but I want to stick with an i7, no i5) i'm all for a bit of savings in the long run.

Should I make a new thread, or...?

COOL GTX, I didn't have any black screen issues while using my 980 until after I switched over to the rtx 2080, and there's no way I can prove it shocked my x79 dark. that's quite absurd if you think about it. Then I thought maybe i have a bad operating system. however, The way I figured, if I get a new system going, i'm going to end up redoing windows anyway.

Can you guide me through where to go for that? I can't find that any where, even looked in the manual for "Deep sleep".

I also forgot to add that I don't see how this is possible when I have seen my PC freeze every time before the monitor goes black.

Dear StalinX20, i wasn't understanding correctly why you were questioning dual to quad channel... It only makes sense to afford an modest quad channel in my mind, i am sorry if this catches you out of the thoughts you had on thy subject but quad channel is fast, fast and fast!

All is good. So, what do you think? Is there that much of a difference going from dual channel to quad channel memory? is it worth the extra $100, or is dual channel just fine for gaming?

Can you elaborate more how it makes sense to you? Honestly, when I bought the x79 Dark, the only reason I bought it was the board looked really cool, and yes, quad channel sounded mega awesome. So, I put the money down for it. This time around, I'm considering other options.

Yes , time heals, it is obvious to me that my X299 Dark is so much faster than my X99 Classified which i have had thy ability to mostly air cool at intervals! Meaning i thinkl i understand, it is now a fast experience with thy better board from EVGA to "quad channel"... Hope that makes sense, it is everyday faster. Than dual.

I was rather disappointed when evga tech support just cut me off completely when I told them that it's the motherboard. They concluded that "because the warranty is expired, we can no longer service you." it seems they have turned into every typical company out there. Once your warranty is up, they knife your product. And I don't like to bash EVGA, i'll be honest, I'm a fanboy when it comes to EVGA. I have their video cards, mother boards, PSU, mouse - I even looked into their audio cards, was blown away from it. I was shocked by their statement. I guess Charlie the banker's quote (from Casino) is meaningful right now, "In this day in age, you have to be prepared to take some kind of loss."

Even a little feedback would have been enough.

I guess it doesn't matter if you're a value customer or not, once that warranty goes, that's it, buy a new product, nothing more to see here...

Click the red big toggle button on the back of your monitor.  Click it again.  Move the toggle down to System.  Highlight Deep Sleep then turn it off.   Maybe the H in yours makes yours different from mine but its the same "model".

I see a "black" push button, which I have to hold in, but there's no pushpin, or any "click" to it; I have to steadily hold it pressed. No red button that I see. I have an on/off switch for the power. 3 usb on bottom, and 2 on the side. In settings I don't have a deep sleep button.

I checked out your modsrigs, and it shows you have the "XB273", mine is a xb270H. Yours looks like a newer version than mine.

the memory controller on the motherboard is dying. I can't use the quad channel dimm slots 1,3,5,7 all together without the pc shutting down; if I use slots 1,3 and 7 or 1,3, and 5 - black screen. had to move the mem sticks from 5 & 7 to slots 2 & 8. Correction: slots 1&2 and 7&8 are being used. Well it was a long ride.
