Has anyone noticed a clicking noise when the fans kick on or off? The first unit I got didn't have this issue, the 2nd one that I got the RMA for is doing it.

Check the fan for any broke off part, and check to see if it's loose.

I did check the fans, thats one of the first things I checked, I spinned the fans manually and no noise, no broken parts, just when it starts or stops it makes a loud clicking sound.

A lot of people were reporting a wire that was rubbing against the fans. I know you said you looked but you might wanna double check.

I haven't opened the card, and honestly I think it would not be a good idea to open the card and risking damaging any components...

I notice a really faint noise when the fans start up but I don't hear anything at all when they're running (except when they're closer to 100%)... it reminds me of mechanical hard drive noise. I'm on my 2nd card now as I had to send the first one back for coil whine so I definitely understand about not wanting to take the card apart. I tried to find information about removing the fan shroud but I don't see instructions anywhere. Does anyone have a link so we can see how involved that would be?

Any coil whine on your replacement card?

My first card had lots of coil whine, the 2nd card had more coil whine. The first card had the sticker falling off (EVGA LOGO)....thats the reason I RMA. I hope this card resolves all my issues, if it doesn't then I might end up switching brands...Iv'e tried 4 different brand PSUs..all had coil whine.

A "clicking noise" is definitely different than coil whine [obviously], so you have to have something hitting one of the fans as it spins. The most likely culprit is a wire. It's really not a big deal at all to open the card and check. It's an easy fix. Could also be a sticker or a piece of plastic.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. So you hear a click when the fans start? Not a constant click from something hitting the fans? I listened closely and my FTW 1080 is dead silent when the fans start. Not sure what you have going on there.

Yes for me it's only when the fans start... then I no longer hear it.

do you hear the clicking sound when the fans stop? what happens when you manually spin the fans yourself? do you hear a clicking sound then? I also think it could be a wire.

I don't hear the clicking noise when the fans stop or if I manually spin the fins myself. I removed the card to check the wires and noticed that the fan wires are held down by a metal clip and the wires were flat up against the heatsink. I opened a support ticket and received the following response, "You can try removing the card and placing it fan side up on a flat non conductive surface like wood or cardboard. then place pressure onto the center of the fan. You will feel it move in by about 1/8 of an inch. This should realign the bearings inside the fan housing and stop the "clicking" noise. " I tried this and it did seem to help but I'm uncertain if this is going to be a permanent solution. I'll post again if anything changes.

I was having this exact problem, fans made clicking noise when running, but not when manually spinning them, no wires in the way. Was about to try to RMA, but decided to try pushing on it first, so far it's solved. Now to see if it stays that way... Edit: This was a 970, but their coolers are basically the same.

Received mine today, a 2080ti black edition and does the same. This is totally unacceptable and will definitely return the card for a refund. EVGA must respond and release a bios that stops the auto stop fan.
