CableMod cables are for my Corsair AX860i just an FYI

So I heard good and bad things about this company. So I did the custom cables/colors AND ordered the premade kit from them. I'm sure this is correct but wanted to see what you guys thought.
I noticed that most of the cables on the custom and premade kit have 2 pins jammed into 1 slot. Also noticed that on the 24pin power one pin in missing or skipped. Now to be fair this is the first time ever doing custom cables
so this might be 100% normal. Both sets look the same as for the pins.

Thanks guys, and if this is normal ill just use the custom made ones ( Bright Red / Black set ) and sell the other set ( Blood Red / Black set )

I would look at the cables that came with your AX860i. If they look the same you should be fine. For the PCI cables, if they have 2 connectors on the other end, it should not be an issue to have two cables in to a single slot on the psu side, most of the time it's a short jumper from one connector to another. For the 24pin connector, every power supply I have ever seen has a single pin missing. I think it was used for -12v at some point way in the past.

Just make sure you don't try using cables from one power supply with another, they don't always have the same pinout for the connectors on the power supply side.

the ATX cable looks fine but that pcie connector should have 8 pins, 4 12v+ and 4 grounds, that's how every pcie connector i've ever seen has been anyways.

See and thats on both the Custom ones i had made and the pre built ones from CableMod. The Blood Red ones are the pre build and the bright red is the ones that came from Singapore that were built to the color/order.. hmmmmm

24-pin looks normal. 8-pin pci-e looks to be missing the sense wire.

What is the sense wire?

The sense signals are used so that the graphics card can detect what types of connector(s) are attached, and therefore how much total power is available. For example, if a graphics card needs a full 300 W and has both an eight-pin and six-pin connector on board, if you were to attach two six-pin power supply connectors, the card would “sense” that it had only 225 W available and, depending on the design, it could either shut down or operate in a reduced functionality mode.

Sent them a email yesterday with some more pictures. What i find odd is that i bought a custom set and a pre-made set and BOTH have the same issue's. Maybe they sent me the wrong set for my PSU since they have different kits or different PSU's?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Yep so ALL the PCIe cables i have on the 8 Pin have the sense wire missing on both sets. This seems odd or is it just me? How could 2 different sets have the same sense wire missing?

I cant see it very good at all, but isn't that an 8-pin EPS-12V (CPU power) connector not an 8-pin PCIe connector?..I can't tell..Check which pins have a rounded or square connector, or just test-fit with the system powered off, should fit easily..You don't want to force a CPU connector into a PCIe socket or vice-versa (which has been done before) unless you like 'magic smoke'.

The missing pin (#20) on the 24-pin connector is for -5V which hasn't been used for years but the connector itself is still the same.

Just got this email back ....  Also posted 2 more pictures for you.
This is me sending the email...

Hey Matt thanks for all the help, I do have a few question/concerns. I got my customs cables a few days ago and I noticed that most of the cables have 2 leads jammed into one slot is this normal? I'll send some pictures. Mind you I'm not super good at building but I'm starting out.

I did buy the Premade Blood Red / Black cable set as well as the Custom cables from your site. Both sets have the same sleeves into 1 pin.
Thanks matt hope to hear form you soon

Respond...

Hey Brian,

You're very welcome of course - and happy to help!
This is in regards to manufacturing pinouts which we don't have control
over.
If you ignore PSU pinouts on replacement cables, what can happen is you
can damage your hardware.
Extension cables it would be a direct 1 to 1 at both ends, but on
replacement cables these must be factored as mentioned - to avoid
damage. :)

Kind regards,
Matt

So its definitely missing the sense wire? And should not be installed? Should I be ok with doing the 24pin and SATA power?

ok so i put on the 24pin and a SATA power, left the GPU cable off for now and this happened. Everything turned on ok and ran well until I got into a game and within 3 min I got this crash. Nothing changed. Just installed 24pin and SATA power.
Jusst doing them cables would not cause this right? I am running 6.2.3 XOC as the other 6.2.7 is worse.

I put the old 24pin cable back on and still did the same thing. Then i got a nvhda64v.sys bsod. Had to uninstall GPU driver. Reinsstalled driver...... Just now typing this message it did it again. Flashed then went back to normal, think the gpu is done?
