Hello,

I put my computer on the side to clean it off the dust, like a did a thousand times before. Today, when I put it back in the vertical position - I heard a sound of water flowing. I freaked out but found no leaks. Then, when I turned PC on, I head a weird whizzing noise coming out of the water block, which slowly went away.

Now everything is normal. Except all my CPU temps shot up 15C. I don't know what to make of it. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have some air stuck in the line somewhere.

So, it's a warranty case then? Or there is a way to get it out?

Also, can I get the schematics of the cooler somewhere? I need to know where the air should be, to begin with.

See: How do I troubleshoot Hybrid or CLC Pump Noise? in the EVGA FAQs.

Sometimes there are instances where a liquid cooler can make a gurgling or other unusual sounds. This is typically caused by air stuck in the cooler that needs to be circulated through the built-in traps on the radiator. Any air bubbles tend to go away quickly on their own as the coolant flows through the cooler. In some cases, it may be necessary to physically manipulate the radiator to free any stubborn air bubbles.

This can be done in two different ways.
1) Unmount the radiator if it is installed in a PC case then gently shake it to loosen any air bubbles.
2) Lay the radiator or system on its side and let it run for until the sound goes away. It can take about 15 minutes before the sounds go away.

These methods are also recommended if drastically high temperatures suddenly occur.

(The radiator should be positioned to where any small amount of air is trapped at the top of it and the hoses positioned at the bottom or side of it so that only liquid can be sucked into the pump.)

You won't be able to get it out but you should with the tips above be able to get it  back to the point it was before.

don't forget to vacuum the radiator - this could require you to remove the fans from the radiator to get it all

Thank you all for replies! So far - no luck. Could you tell me where air in this thing supposed to be? I shook it in all ways possible and randomness didn't help.

Right now, I run PC in this position, but Temps don't improve. Also, I couldn't replicate this large gulping sound I heard originally.

rotate it on the case Top so the hoses are at the bottom

Air in a liquid will Only Rise - if air is sucked into the Pump - the pump Might cavitate - the coolant will either stop moving or at a very reduce rate - because of air in the pump

Or - remove the radiator & hold so it is Above the CPU - as the case lays on its side

If you're convinced there's no air in the pump, which there shouldn't be by now, maybe it's time to check the waterblock for tightness and even the TIM..It could also be that something coincidently went wrong with the pump.

If you're going to replace the TIM, Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (liquid metal) is THE best in the universe (except for sub-zero cooling)..MX-4 for conventional thermal paste.

I managed to get rid of the bubble. Putting case upside down and shaking it finally did it. Thank you all!

Regarding thermal paste, I tried IC graphite on cooler and under the lid. Didn't do much
Thinking on using liquid metal, but 6 month maintenance requirement puts me off.

Cool

But as far as TG Conductonaut goes, I changed it (but only between the IHS and cooler this time) because, it was 1 year old, and, I noticed core temps had risen 3 or 4 degrees Celsius under load, but I mostly attribute that to a warm front we had here and my ambient had risen about that much too.

So my testing is exactly in line with Gamers Nexus testing in the link below.

My initial (CPU, and GPU) results can be found here and as you can see, my CPU core temps dropped a whopping 20C+, almost 30C, under load after delidding as compared to the MX-4 I was using before!

Needing to change it after 6 months is a myth.

Tested for a Year: How Often Should You Change Liquid Metal?

If you're going to put it under the lid, I suggest insulating those little metal doodads and whatnot around the die with a couple coats of clear nail polish like I did.
