Hello everybody!
I am an hardware enthusiast from germany and start now building my personal dream pc based on the mother of all motherboards, the EVGA SR-2!
I am absolutely convinced about the quality of the EVGA products and that's why i choosed the EVGA Classified 3 plus two EVGA GTX580 for my current system. Have a look:

This is the system i want to go for:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon DP X5650 6x 2.66GHz
MAINBOARD: EVGA SR-2 (Super Record 2)
GRAPHICS: 3x EVGA GTX580 @ triple SLI
RAM: 24GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz, CL8
HD: 2x 160GB Intel X25-M G2 Postville @ RAID 0, 1TB Samsung HD103UJ, 500GB Samsung HD502IJ
DVD: LG GH22NS50
COOLER: 2x Prolimatech Armageddon with Noctua NF-P12 120mm fans
CASE: Lian-Li PC-V2120X (all black)
POWER: Be Quiet Dark Power Pro P8 1200W
SOUND: Creative XFI Fatal1ty Champion

Now all parts which i need for the upgrade have arrived me since saturday:

Hopefully my current power supply will have no probs with that rig because of its power consumption...
Any suggestions?

Greets, ujmoskito

Great component selection. I wouldn't have chosen anything different. Also I personally have the prolimatech armageddons with notctua P12 fans on an Sr-2 and Dominator Ram, excellent selections.

funny, i was just browsing newegg and adding up the prices of my 'dream' (literally) pc and the parts including external items would have totalled $20570. i know i will never get even 1/4 way there

consider your build cheap :p but still excellent. keep being awesome!

Very similar build to what I am intending shortly! good to see :D

Do the armageddons fit onto the board without any modification/swapping out of backplates?

    Thanks and Good luck.

Thx guys for the warm welcome!
    But again my question:
Will my current power supply be strong enough with that rig because of its power consumption?
Some members with similar configs are using the silverstone 1500w strider psu, better choice?
    Thx for your help!

The 1200W will be tight. I have a very very similar setup

    2 x X5680 @ 4.3Ghz
    3 x GTX580 Tri SLI @ 906Mhz
    6 x 4GB DDR3 2000 @1870Mhz
    4 x 128GB SSD
    1 x RocketRaid 640
    MCR 480 Rad
    MCP 655 Pump
    12 120mm Fans

And under FULL LOAD (Multi-core instance of Kombustor hitting the GPU's and Prime 95 across all cores)  I peak at  ~1850W from the wall (including 3 28" monitors).

You may want to consider a 1500W Strider (thats what I use also and it handles it fine)

Pic of the "pre-setup" with only two GTX580 because my new power supply hasn't reached me yet.

Actually i installed Windows 7 and it is a blast how quick all is running, what difference to my former system!

Also i changed the fan setup of the Armaggeddons, i bought two Noiseblocker BlacksilentPro PK2 140x25mm fans. Looking better in the black tower as the Noctua.

Excellent pics of you build components!  Great choices in hardware too.

Don't be alarmed the first time you power it on to see it startup and a few seconds later appear to shut down and then restart itself a few seconds after that to continue on.  That is normal for the SR-2 and caused a deep "oh-crap" to me when I first saw it happen.

The system is very quiet, i am absolutely happy with the noise of the fans!
I had to exchange the installed backplates of the board with the smaller ones included in the equipment. That was the only modification, they fit absolutely perfect on this board. Also no probs with the headspreader of the corsair ram modules. I will post some detailed pics later, if the setup is finished!

    Oke, it's done...

One pic of the final rig:

I am very satisfied with this setup, even there is no watercooling in it, but the Xeons are running on low temps with 3.8GHz stable. Maybe there is a little bit more reserve, but it is fast enough.

    A little update!

Fourth EVGA GTX580 for 4-Way SLI installed and the Fatal1ty soundcard replaced by SoundBlaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro because all pci slots are occupied by the graphic sektion.
