loveordie Retr0 loveordie If any one whats this custom baked version of the SC 70.00.21.00.84 in FTW clock speeds i posted it up i've been using it for awhile with no problems.[<font] So the custom baked version is the latest SC bios set to the default FTW clocks? Any other changes to it, compared to the 70.00.1A.00.82 FTW bios? im not sure what ever they updated in the 84 could be fan speed tweaks i running this bios on my SC with no problems it seem the 70.00.1A.00.82 bios versions for all 480's have more clock domains the reason i don't know, as i see it they have more clock speeds for idle when the newer version have less. Thanks for the info, and the bios files

My new GTX480 SC is also at 70.00.35.80 - and it seems to work very well.

Sup guys! Just for your consideration the 70.00.35.00.80 Bios has a different Board ID, just check the Screenshot i attached. So maybe something changed on the PCB, etc. So if you want to update from your older bios, i would stay with the .84 version.

Not that EVGA encourages Bios flashing but if any of you wouldn't mind speaking on the topic of board id's and any relationships to bios it would be neat to add to the conversation.Speaking for myself i wouldn't mind knowing a little more . (not trying to derail Loveordie just interested as it is relevant somewhat to the Bios topic i think )

- Device ID: Is the ID used to identify the device. It can also be changed by using dropdown menu Device in the General Info region.
- Sub Vendor ID: Is used to display the Vendor in the General Info area. Changing this may allow you to use vendor specific tools. Note that this is called Sub Vendor ID, because there is also a generic Vendor ID, which is always NVIDIA for NVIDIA BIOSes.
- Sub System ID: This is to make the difference between the different chipsets or GPU's used on the graphics cards.
- Board ID: Is used to distinguish between cards of same chipset. Often flashing tools like nvFlash check these.
nvFlash will worn you if the bios isn't compatible with your video card when flashing to a different Board ID i didn't get any warning at all. SOURCE

well looks like they removed some clocks from 70.00.1A.00.80 compared to the newer ones which i have no idea why , flashing your bios will probably help you in temp but probably nothing in performance, and like many have said about the warranty of your card will be void so it really up to you nvidia wouldn't just update the bios for no reason so i chose to update mine, im running my card @ 800/1600/2000 bios flashed so these clocks are now the stock clocks of my card. you can see by this what has been changed

I know jack about GPU BIOS, but I have two GTX 480 FTW (Hydro Coppers) and they have different BIOS versions.. the 2nd card runs a lot hotter on load, and I found out (using AIDA64, which used to be EVEREST) that the amps and wattage reading on that 2nd card are significantly higher even at idle.. here's the results: card #1: 70.00.21.00.82 card #2: 70.00.35.00.80 On idle, GPU 1 & 2 both show 0.963V Likewise, GPU Vcc and GPU VRM voltage are about the same, however... GPU VRM Current is 10A for card#1, 14A for card#2 GPU VRM Power is 9.5W for card#1, 13.25W for card#2 I don't know if this accounts for all the extra heat I have on card #2, but I'm thinking there's some relationship there. Thanks to FlyingDuck88 for bringing this to my attention on another thread.

I'm looking at the links on Box.net and the only BIOS I see for the FTW (hydro coppers) is GF100_70.00.1A.00.82 FTW.rom.zip ...as mentioned above, neither of my cards use this BIOS version.. one has 70.00.21.00.82 and the other 70.00.35.00.80 What the heck is the correct 'stock' BIOS for the FTW hydro copper card???

Reviving an old thread because I noticed the new 480 I got has a bios that isn't listed. I submitted it with GPU-Z. Here is the original card that I got a week after they launched. 13.7-14.1k PPD for folding Here is the one I got a few weeks ago. 15.9-16.6k PPD for folding Reason I'm posting this is there is actually a difference in performance between the 2 cards. Granted it could be a number of things but the BIOS really caught my attention. An example is the folding numbers below each picture. Just thought it was interesting and figured I would share. If it doesn't get updated here and someone wants it let me know and I can send it to you.

Well I'd just like to say thanks for this thread. I've been having problems with my 2x480gtx's since I got them (about 1 month apart). It never worked properly in SLI and I was about to give up on them and thought I'd search out info on updating them. It turned out that the two cards had a different bios. I have updated them both to the FTW bios and not only does SLI appear to be working fully, but the temps are way, way lower, by 20 degrees when stressed out. I did have a problem when trying to update them. The first card updated perfectly, but the 2nd refused to due to the "Firmware image PCI subsystem ID 3842.1482 dos not match adapter PCI subsystem ID 3842.1485" I re-made the USB drive using the NVturboforceflash and this overwrote the issue for me. I take it that this was the correct thing to do? Anyway, thanks again for a very useful thread.

Hi guys, I got a second gtx480 yesterday but from gigabyte, nvidia reference pcb. my other gtx480 is a EVGA vanilla one (watercooled) i put the new card into my rig saved the bios from the giga (nvidia stock bios) flashed the evga bios from my first card to the giga card and i had massive problems when trying to get sli running. battlefield crashed my computer after 1-2 minutes of playing, the computer did a reboot and my graphic card drivers are gone (i removed all old drivers and made a clean new install with 285.62) sometimes the whole computer crashed even in windows after 2 hours of figuring out the problem i flashed back to the nvidia bios which came with the giga card now everything "seems" to run sometimes it reboots and sli wasnt available anymore very strange is it a problem for the driver if i flash the 100% same bios too the 2 cards? do i may have to change the Device id ? i really want to run an evga bios on both cards regards f0rtune
