Maybe I'm over-thinking this...

I'm moving my main rig to a Fractal Design Meshify 2 XL.  During the move, I intend to put an AIO on the processor.
Reviews of AIOs seem all over the place.  Where some like one, others trash it, visa versa.

My main concern: silence. Or at least quiet operation.

I like like to hear your experience with AIO coolers.  (BTW: I don't need RGB but it's not a turn off.)

Muchas Gracias

I am interested also, thanks for making this thread, just a FYI, which CPU you are using?
If members can post AIO/CPU/Fans they are using, it will be helpful, specially any MODs will be helpful.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Basically you want the largest radiator & fan size you can fit into your case. The more surface area, the more heat can spread and will be easier to dissipate. Higher airflow fans (usually bigger in size) will move air at lower RPMs and lower noise levels.

In the XL I would def be looking for a 360mm AIO kit, in no particular order:

  1. Corsair H150
  2. NZXT Kraken Z73
  3. Fractal Celsius S36
  4. Cooler Master ML360
  5. EVGA CLC 360
  6. Lian Li Gallahad 360
Find one you like the design of and go with it.

To add to castrator86's insightful msg, GamersNexus has done some reliable and detailed breakdowns on AIO coolers.

The D15 runs cool and quiet. No issues there. However, it’s a beast in size and it blocks easy access to my GPU retention clip. When changing gpus I have to use a wooden spoon handle to release the card. It’s a pain and it’s risky.

Moving to a larger case gives me more flexibility with cooling decisions. I can put a large future-proof AIO on my cpu and (eventually) easily fit an AIO RTX 3090.

Thanks again for the input guys.

Here are the ones I have hands on experience and good luck with.

Almost every Corsair AIO since beginning. 120 up to 360
EVGA CLC 120 and 240
Coolermaster ML240
Artic Cooling Liquid Freezer II  - I have a 120 version

Granted that "silent or quiet" is subjective, I've found all of them to to be pretty quiet.   A little bit of pump noise during start up.  Biggest noise is going to be the fans.  I would say with the exception of the Artic, ditch the provided fans and run some PWM "quiet" fans.

Only one that I will never use again is the Coolermaster.   Granted, I picked up and early version of a Master Liquid, but that was enough to dissuade me from another one.  Cheap materials, feel and set up.   The newer ones might be better.

I started a similar thread here: https://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?p=1338274509#post1338274509

I’ve been a member of that forum since the 90’s and a mod for several years.  Those guys have some great input.

I’ve decided to choose either the Corsair or the Arctic.

I will go for Arctic, they have something to prove and they are hungry, unlike Corsair. That is my opinion. Due your research well, I always do.

Re: Best, Silent AIO Cooler 2021/03/14 13:49:15 (permalink)
Advantages to the Corsair.
RGB (if you're into that)
One of the easiest installs out there (Intel).
iCue can offer full control and monitoring of temps and pump.
History of known reliability behind the product

Disadvantages to the Corsair
RGB (if you're not into that)
Not a big fan of the AMD mounting option
Bloatware: iCue
Tends to run on the higher end of the pricing spectrum
Lots of stuff to plug in

Advantages of the Artic
No bloatware at all.
Good bang for the buck
No RGB
Factory fan(s) are quiet
Single wire operation for everything.
Uses the four motherboard mount points for AMD rather than the "tension strap" mount.
Easy Intel mounting

Disadvantages of the Artic
Module fan is a gimmick and can be noisy
No RGB
Single wire operation.  No monitoring software
Short cooling hoses.  At least in the case of the 120

Conclusion:  I would buy either one dependent on use and look.

Want no frills?  Go for the Artic.  Want style, lights and looks?  Go for the Corsair.

Very nice. I'm regretting only going with a 240mm rad with my 5900X.

I am using the H115i Capellix cooler in a push-pull configuration. Very low noise even under full load conditions.

Will do.  Although it's not very RGB-ish. But I'll snap a few pics once it's all together (next week some time).
