I just installed a new B-Stock PSU into a new build and soon after powering it on, I kept hearing popping noises coming from the AIO. I figured since it's everything is new, it will just  fix itself over time. I tried installing Windows right after and none of the SSDs were being recognized which was confusing. While I was trying to figure out the issue with the SSDs, I started smelling electrical smoke and immediately noticed the Corsair AIO was emitting smoke. The SSDs ended up being fried since they wouldn't read anymore on my other computer.

I set up the RMA (5421210517055116) already and explained in the notes what's going on but it never gave me the option for a refund only a replacement. On top of that, I have to pay for shipping which is $20+ from UPS and FedEx which is ridiculous. I already replaced the SSDs and AIO at Best Buy so I'm good there. What can I do to just get a refund?

I'm not trying to be rude,.. but... seriously .  You bought a used/ demo'd B-stock PSU  that has a bronze rating also -  to run all new components in a build.   You get what you pay for .  Budget priced / budget quality.

I'm not trying to make excuses for a faulty product though either.  If the unit failed, it failed due to low quality parts or manufacturing period. EVGA should own that....  but don't use low quality stuff on anything you care about or you end up with a higher chance of crud like this happening.
Ends up costing more in the long run.... Live & learn .

On the surface, it sounds like you may have used SATA power cables from another PSU because that's exactly what could (most likely) happen to any components connected to them.

You'll want to call in to CS and speak to someone directly to resolve the issue as long as you submitted the RMA, they can look it up and work with you to get something resolved. Most likely they'll just send you a brand new PSU unit of the same or similar model

I have never purchased a BStock PSU, did it come with all of the modular cables or did you pick up the cables separately? I ask because I am not sure.

Could you post a picture of the Sata cables that you utilized?

Was the AIO powered by Sata or Molex, and could you post pictures of that cable as well?

Don't buy EVGA PSUs new or b stock. They been cough doing the review sampling switcharoo and changing PSU internals mid productions to cut cost. I'd not want to touch a b-stock one with a 10ft pole.
That being sad EVGA should address if you contact them directly, but don't expect them to fix anything other then the PSU. And making the customer pay for return shipping for a defective item the killed hardware? that is like adding insult to injury, hopefully they fix everything.

Also using the wrong PSU cables would not due this unless if the PSU was really poorly made and lacked even the most simple of safety features. Any ground being swapped with a hot should be a instant shut off for any PSU made in the last 15-20 year. Hots being swapped could do this if the PSU was lacking slandered safety features if it was 3.3v being swapped with 5v but as far as I know AIO and SSDs don't use 3.3v but rather 5v and swapping 5v for 12v would kill the hardware much faster if not almost instantly. swapping to a lower vantage would just lead to the parts not getting full power.

Where did you get that EVGA was switching components? Could you provide proof and not speculation? EVGA uses OEM’s for their psu manufacturing so for EVGA to make changes, they would have to tell the OEM to change the product.

And using the wrong Sata cable would kill the SSD’s instantly, as the cables have completely different pinouts and the SSD is very sensitive to incorrect voltages. BQ line of PSU’s can not use the B2 style cables, since the pin out of the SSD and Perif cables are incorrect. The cables aren’t even designed to look the same, since two different OEM’s were used.

The issue we run into is that the OP doesn’t mention anything about cables and has been silent since posting, so there is no way to know what actually happened.
