Updates CPU microcode, fixes 92 POST code hang, and other items.

BIOS Updates for E699 DARK K|NGP|N (2.10) / E698 Classified (2.09)
  • Updates CPU microcode to 112.
  • Fixes issue where BIOS will sometimes hang on 92/A2 POST Code.
  • Fixes CPU V/F curve issue.
  • Fixes issue where certain U.2 devices may not work. (Z690 DARK K|NGP|N only)
  • Adds 8400 OC profile. (Z690 DARK K|NGP|N only)
  • Improves memory OC ability. (Z690 CLASSIFIED only)

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N - v2.10
         121-AL-E698-KR - EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED - v2.09
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flash is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Power on the system again and go into BIOS and adjust settings as needed.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be run from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation within BIOS

  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
  • From the BIOS, navigate to the EXTRAS tab at the upper left and click on "BIOS Update"
  • Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
BIOS Installation Without CPU

  • Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
  • Rename the file "EVGAE6XX.bin", where XX is the last two digits of the part number (e.g. Z690 DARK K|NGP|N should be EVGAE699.bin)
    • In the case of the Z690 DARK K|NGP|N, if EVGAE699.bin doesn't work, please try EVGAE690.bin
  • Install the USB flash drive into the USB Type-A port on the motherboard.
  • Make sure to connect the 24pin power connector from your power supply to the motherboard.
  • Switch on the power supply, if it is not already on.
  • Hold the BIOS Update button on the rear I/O for approximately 2 seconds until the flash begins (the cursor on the POST LED will begin cycling)
  • The BIOS update may take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete.  When done, the board will restart.
  • Complete the rest of your build at this point to confirm a successful flash.

Please let me know if anyone runs into problems with this update.  Thanks!

Also, earlier BIOS files for each board can be found on our Download Center.

    First!  lol

Updating on classy now.  Crossing fingers (but 2.08's been good with my 13900ks where my 12900k was stuck on 92 with 2.08).

Edit:  Update seems to have went through without a hitch.  Booted just fine but activation reset again and this time it's not accepting the product key or digital license.  Good times.

Hey guys, new to EVGA boards. Ive used the Mortar Max to OC Non-K, but with this board it seems to be a bit different. Im wondering uf anyone can lead me to what Bios version is best for a 12th Gen non-k? I updated the microcode, then it seemed to block the Bclk Patch? Which version works? I had 5ghz, but then bios seemed to kick it to the curb.
    Edit: KPE Dark 699

what are the changes in the new microcode?
is it possible to switch between microcodes?
    between which versions are switching?
what is the new profile 8400, how is it different from the old?

Not 100% sure what the cause is yet, but after being rock stable on 2.08, I just had three HARD lockups on 2.10 (DKP) while playing a game...about 10m in each time.

I matched my BIOS settings exactly as I had it on 2.08, so for now my guess is it's the bios...or at least some incompatibility with my settings.

    I'm reverting to 2.08

EDIT: Had another couple of crashes on 2.08 (which is weird because I had a stable system for months). So, I moved to bios 2 and did a bios flashback to 2.10 and am trying again. Will report back on changes.

2.10 locked up for me. I am using it specifically for Bclk OC though. Guessing the microcode is the issue. Have had error code 12, 04, as well as many others. Ive used microcode 0x09, 0D, and the newest 26. Im guessing were supposed to usr 0x09 for 12th Gen non K, but its not coming close to even booting. Freezing on startup. Fresh Windows 11 install, updated Windows. Is 2.08/2.10 no longer working on Bclk OC? Please someone from EVGA help. Never had to try so many different bios in my life.

Will give this a shot, definitely using a different BIOS switch position this time >_>

BIOS 2.09 for Classified seems to be working.

It also fixed my TPM issue using 3 x PCIe Gen4 drives, so time to install Win 11.

    Good job eVGA.

2.09 with classified does indeed break BCLK overclocking. Using mode 2 and microcode 105 or 112, code 55.

    Just can't win lol

Not sure if this is Intel's doing or EVGAs. Back to 2.06...

    Update:

Did a fresh BIOS flash (using USB flashback) with 2.10. So far so good (knock on wood). I was too quick to blame the bios, but I also had to do some more voltage tuning to make sure it was stable (7200)

And what? this is not problem for other brands 4-dimm boards to run 7200/7400
Even cheap $200 Z690 Tomahawk surpassing Classified

Evga made two  completely different boards
Z690 Best memory OC board  - Dark
Z690 Worst memory OC board - Classified

Is that with Classified or Kingpin? There're other voltages you need to tune like VDD2, VDD, and VDDP as well as SA. VDDQ of 1.24 is extremely low. I've benched up to 7200MT/s in the Classified with M-die. 1.35 range for VDDQ was optimal and Extreme Voltage mode needed to be enabled for >1.435 VDD.

So, what are the rest of your voltages?

Ekwb1103mine 13700k too works only with vddq  1.24, but i cant stabilize 7000(errors after 15mins tests) i try more high, more low nothing no help

Is that with Classified or Kingpin? There's other voltages you need to tune like VDD2, VDD, and VDDP as well as SA. VDDQ of 1.24 is extremely low. I've benched up to 7200MT/s in the Classified with M-die. 1.35 range for VDDQ was optimal and Extreme Voltage mode needed to be enabled for >1.435 VDD.

So, what are the rest of your voltages?

question: are u with 12 or  13 gen?
we can try together with you:) ekwb1103 my tg and  right now i trying to beat  7000,  7200 i cant boot for now

13th gen, and I don't have SR M-Die anymore, I moved on to DR M-Die. More performance for less Mhz. Same for anyone with a crap motherboard in terms of RAM OC. DR should be used not SR.

    2.09 Classified
1)A-die 7200 not achivable in any form and any voltages
    HMCG78AGBUA084N
    F5-6400J3239G16GA2-TZ5RS

    2) G.Skill Flare X5 still not working correctly, only half memory recognized as on previous bioses

    3) Sometimes 9C hang until reboot

At this point people who writing bios for Classified should be fired or people who responsible for providing feedback to them
i don't know where is problem located, but someone not doing their job

    dram vdd  and vddq  tell me pls, i have same setup(too tridents}}

Don't have the memory anymore, and this was on BIOS 2.03 IIRC. The way errors generate change depending on VDDQ and VDD. Too much VDDQ and the errors happen faster, within the sweet spot they stop or generate slower. Z690 Classified is not good at memory overclocking.

Even how it manages timings changed from ADL to RPL. The BIOS is poorly optimized between the two CPU generations. There's also certain divisors that allow tighter timings. Even a cheap Z790 Aorus Elite would easily beat this board.

everyone z690 beat this board:) include 690 pro a
but on start it was monster, when others sit on 6400 its  was  6600-6800  on 12 gen, but on 13 its trash and  now others  optimize bios,  evga no, and now its worst board for dram OC(memory overclocking is the only thing that can distinguish and should it from competitors)
