TheAffxct So what you guys are saying is this BIOS sucks?
That’s a weird assessment based on a few forum posts (primarily from people still on alder lake) There are several good alder lake bios versions available. If you’re not on raptor lake, you can always stick with these if you’re missing features you must have. Looking forward to testing this shortly. Anyone try gear 4 and get a successful post?

If you want to test your max memory OC, it's good. For daily driving? no.
not really... if u disable ecores, ring gets fixed.

If you reset your bios from the back panel for thirty seconds with power still on for the psu and start over completely and don't touch adaptive voltage and only use set manually for vcore and then only set your cpu multiplier to " manual - ratio limit " instead of per core everything works correctly. I had to set my vcore manual voltage to 1.32v at a vdroop of +75 to get my ecores to flip over to the 47 limit I set for them. I had to reset my BIOS though to get everything to go back to normal otherwise it was bugged out and nothing worked. It would seem that adaptive voltage and the vf table are not working correctly for me. Unless there's a trick to get it to work correctly which I tried almost everything but could have missed something you never know. I have my pcores set to 58 and the ecores set to 47 and the ring to 50. I noticed that the ring flexes now to 50 instead of staying at 50. mines goes from 4600MHz up to 5000MHz.

it depends on your use case for sure. for gaming , no point having it enabled. it just gets in the way.

EVGA_James
BIOS 2.04 Updates - Improved memory overclock ability and performance
- Added OC profile for Raptor Lake.
- Added more VCore V/F points.
Windows Installation- Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
121-AL-E698-KR - EVGA Z690 CLASSIFIED (2.04) 121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N (2.04)
- First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and reboot to Windows.
- Close all open programs.
- Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and click update.bat
- Press Y to start the flash process
- DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
- After the flash is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Power on the system again and go into BIOS and adjust settings as needed.
- NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be run from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.
BIOS Installation- Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
- Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
- From the BIOS, navigate to the EXTRAS tab at the upper left and select "BIOS Update"
- Select the .bin file you wish to flash.
@evga_james - memory overclocking is much better, but I see a couple of problems. I am running a 13900K CPU. - Ring/Cache will not go above 45x. I have it set in the BIOS for 47x. In Windows is shows 45x and it does in ELEET. If I try to manually set it to 47x in ELEET, it goes back to 45.
- All core clocks do not hold in Cinebench. Cores randomly drop to 800MHz across the p-core and Cinebench scores are 10,000 points lower.
Good first stab at it, but those things need to be fixed before it is a usable firmware.

vertex72 Hello, There is some bug about cpu oc on 12900KS (and maybe other ADL cpu). First : The thermal velocity boost must be disable or the cpu will clock down during workload, also downclock with cstate off Second : Ring ration can't be set, while i set 44 on bios i still have 36 under OS, with Eleet X1 it show 36, and changing the value on it doesn't change the ring at all. For mem OC it's fine, in can do 8000c32 / 8200c34 or 8400c34 easly with 12900ks and A die, daily oc kharu Ycruncher stable at 7600c36 1.4v on hynix green stick.
Similar issuues with 13900K. Disabling TVB doesn't stop the CPU from throttling to 800MHz in Cinebench. Ring ratio is capped at 45x. You can set it higher, but anything higher is ignored and it runs 45x. Memory clocking is much better. I can run my generic green M-die sticks at 7800 now and they maxed out at way less than that on prior firmware. Disabling E-cores is not an option and I view that as being a ridiculous idea, even on a temporary basis.

When someone said +5c idle/load on CPU it instantly makes me want to delete the file off of my USB and not even consider flashing, alongside the dude who had an issue booting. Then someone on OCN has an issue with VDDQ training, and someone down below is saying clocks are dipping in AVX. Idk, this BIOS seems like a dumpster fire, with all due respect to EVGA. I’m the first to say I am yearning for a D5-7800 OC, but my 13700K is hitting 80c at 1.225Vmin in R23 and there’s no way I’d be happy hitting 85, even if it’s just in sporadic apps like stress tests and 3DMark physics that I run every then so often. The fact that it might be 5c higher just makes me not even want to consider daily’ing.

I haven't checked anything with V/F curves because I have never run my systems that way. I only use fixed all-core clocks and static voltage for everything, and always have. Maybe someone else can comment that tunes that way. I went back to 2.03 because the tremendous boost in memory performance is eclipsed by the tremendous degradation of CPU performance. Will wait until they have a corrective version release and try again. I was intially very excited based on the memory overclocking enhancements, but they really missed the mark on the bugged CPU functionality.

98AMcFadden My 7600 cl 36 kit seems to run great with this bios. Only issue i'm having is the Ring ration wont set for some reason. I set my ring to x53 in bios, but its being reported at x45 when in Windows.
Same issue here. Seems like this firmware did not get adequate testing. Interesting the Vince and Luumi can provide overclock profiles but not identify these glaring functionality issues. Either they didn't give it due diligence, or EVGA did something to try to dumb things down for us peasants. Thewebsiteisdown If you reset your bios from the back panel for thirty seconds with power still on for the psu and start over completely and don't touch adaptive voltage and only use set manually for vcore and then only set your cpu multiplier to " manual - ratio limit " instead of per core everything works correctly. Doesn't matter where I set the ring ratio, but maxes out at 45x and the BIOS setting is ignored. Thank you for the suggestion on holding down the reset button for 30 seconds. It did not change anything for me, but I am glad it helped resolve your issues.

- BCLK spread spectrum needs to be disabled or set to zero percent, or exposed so we can do it. With BCLK set to 100.0 core clocks are less than ratio, which is not normal for EVGA BIOS. (One of the many reasons I generally love EVGA firmware is that stupid behavior that is common on competitor garbage motherboards is not on EVGA. 100.0 should be 100.0, not 99.8)
- 2.04 totally effed up my Linux install. ACPI or SMI must be butchered like my ASUS board. NOTHING reports correct P or E core clocks with 2.04. Everything shows 4.1GHz and core frequency adjustment is broken. (Linux install was working flawlessly for me up through BIOS v2.03.)
Good first stab at it, but those things need to be fixed before it is a usable firmware. Edit#1: **ADDED #3 ISSUE TO MY PREVIOUS LIST** Edit#2: **ADDED #4 ISSUE TO MY PREVIOUS LIST**

Weird. The exact opposite is true for me. My generic green M-die sticks maxed out at 6800 before 2.04 and now they can run 7800. Do you have A-die? For what it's worth, if you are trying to use the same memory settings that worked in 2.03 you're probably going to have to start over on the memory tuning. My manual 6800 memory overclock settings were totally unbootable with 2.04. I just checked and you are correct. For some goofy reason they removed 2.03 from the EVGA Download Center. They need to put it back. Yes, flashing back to 2.03 works normally. I've done it twice already trying to make this messy BIOS work for me. Here is a link to download it from my OneDrive folder. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtvVypqAtWDahYksVp3Ag8fDGcck3Q

I had 7400 stable with A-die on 2.03, and prior to that I had 7200 stable on M-die. 2.03 was actually really decent up until the point where I tried to do 7600-7800 with A-die. I dunno though, flashed back to 2.03 and now the settings I previously had stable were not running, so I went to 1.4 TX and will test it via HCI later.

With 2.04 I can only run with stock default bios settings. If I start making changes I get stuck in a 53, 54, 7F loop. Running a Z690 Dark Kingpin with 13900k, 32 GB Manta Xprism 7200 SK Hynix A-die and a Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC. Will go back to 2.03.

so far bios seems very solid from my testing. 8400 is bench stable with almost no effort (using same timings as z790 apex with less voltage) and working on this today. as baffling as it seems to me, i do appreciate y'all who are testing alder lake and m-die on the new bios revs.

Kadao With 2.04 I can only run with stock default bios settings. If I start making changes I get stuck in a 53, 54, 7F loop. Running a Z690 Dark Kingpin with 13900k, 32 GB Manta Xprism 7200 SK Hynix A-die and a Gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC. Will go back to 2.03.
how much did you test voltages? for dark bios, the auto voltages are a bit weird but will work for finding frequency and timings before stabilizing. you def need to tune the gap between vdd and vddq to stabilize. and for more demanding benches or daily, you'll need to tune cpu vddq and vdd2 as well.

On certain occasions, the board will enter this weird state where the BIOS indicator and RAM indicator lights disappear, and attempting a boot results in this odd loop of training codes like 16, 20 and 5F. You then you have to boot to safe mode or drain power and switch the PSU back on to get it back to normal.

To be honest I just assembled the PC on Friday, so I have no baseline or anything to compare with. But with 2.03 I can change bios settings with no problem. With 2.04 I can do the OC robot and it works, but if I go and change settings that affect memory, even only voltages, I get stuck in the 53, 54, 7F loop. I need to reset the bios to be able to use it again. Same thing happens with just 1 stick. Sometimes when I go to bios, I get a message that the memory was changed from nowhere. However this seems limited to my new 7200 A-die sticks, because if I swap the memory to a teamgroup t-force 6400 kit the pc just straight up boots with no problems, no need to reset the bios. Even if it was stuck on the 53, 54, 7F loop with the A-dies, if I power off and swap the memory kit, tt just retrains and it's up and running. I'm typing this on the t-force sticks @ 6800. With 2.04 I can't use the A-dies.

I have heard similar reports from other A-die owners with other motherboard brands as well. I returned an A-die kit to NewEgg for a refund just this week because it was extremely unstable on both of my Z690 motherboards. Even the XMP profile was junk. I am having no issues with M-die. I am starting to develop an opinion that A-die may be more trouble than it is worth right now. Might be better to wait 6 to 12 months for things to get the kinks ironed out. I think right now the people making and selling it don't really have a good handle on what they are doing and don't know how to do things right.

TheAffxct So what you guys are saying is this BIOS sucks?
If you want to test your max memory OC, it's good. For daily driving? no.
not really... if u disable ecores, ring gets fixed.
It makes 0 sense for me to have to disable E cores with 13700
it depends on your use case for sure. for gaming , no point having it enabled. it just gets in the way.
Not true, it helps games and outperforms hyper threading.

Ok I’ve been talking to EVGA and let’s clear a few things up. There are issues, but some reports on here are nonsense.
No this BIOS won’t damage your board, but it does seem to treat Vcore differently than 1.03. Now another issue is that ring is absolutely locked to 4.5GHz. After extensive testing these are the only 2 oddities I can confirm. If your downclocking it means your thermal throttling, because tbh most overclocks people show me are wildly unstable or have way too high of voltage realistically.
EVGA is already investigating the ring lock and it’s likely 2.05 will be available soon. I’ll talk to them again and see if they are able to push it out early this coming week, but idk a for sure timeline.

Ask EVGA to test with Arc A770. The bios is buggy with it. Just pressing enter to load a profile results in enter being pressed twice. Meaning the top profile autoloads. Also the system auto reboots on shutdown with Intel Arc 770 or Radeon RX 6000. Nvidia (4090) didn't have this issue. Really annoying these bugs on such a pricey board.

I also want to add that in terms of Vcore being handled differently for example I used to need 1.28V for 5.6GHz. Now I can do it at 1.25V. Basically it seems to be supplying more voltage than it used to at least for me. This is probably why people are reporting higher temps. Id like to see people try and set negative offsets if they aren’t overclocking and report their results.

For what it’s worth, I tried to mess with negative offsets at stock just to see if it actually works now, and -150 vs -250 resulted in the exact same Vmin under load on VR VOUT, which I assume to be the actual stock value by logical deduction.
