Do EVGA motherboards come with any kind of BIOS recovery options. I had a failed BIOS update on an older board a 123-yw-e175 a1

If you made a backup of the old BIOS & have not powered down the MB - just reinstall the original. If you have shut down the MB or did not make a backup of the BIOS - I'll have to do some research on that. If MB is running - go to another PC and try to download another BIOS exe file. Worst case scenario: Usually you replace the BIOS chip - especially if it is not soldered in or send MB to factory for a re-flash of the BIOS.

I didn't do a backup, and it hung mid flash. I guess I should have in hindsight. I can't get to a point to reflash. I'm thinking of replacing chip. I'm just surprised it doesn't have a recovery button or jumper. It just goes straight to a bad checksum error, if I see anything at all

This is how I got to this point. I got tired of someone messing with my computer. So, I unplug it and basically just use a laptop for 4 months. I turn it back on and I'm getting digital signature errors with winload.exe. I try to troubleshoot SATA Drive or port as a possible issue, then after a few restarts I'm getting errors for checksum or missing floppy drive. Now all the sudden BIOS settings won't save even after reseating battery. I might have chosen fail safe defaults before this started. That's when I decided to just reflash

You'll need to rma the board as it doesn't come with a replaceable bios chip.

I can not read the square chip down by the coin cell battery. In the manual it looks like a socket mounted chip ---What does it say on your Chip ? Next to the end of the last PCI slot

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. Mine seems to have some kinda part number on it maybe. Maybe I should just buy the chip and see what looks similar

This ? The one between the mounting hole and the PCI bus - near the right edge in the picture Try pushing on it - Maybe it is loose ***** support the MB from below **** or you could break the MB.**** I'd call EVGA support -- see if they will sell or maybe give you one - can't hurt to ask You'll need the right tool to remove it without damaging the socket

Well that is taking forever to post the picture I marked the chip - I can see it if I open "edit" of my previous post Again - Call or Email EVGA support -- the price for the BIOS might be as good or better than elsewhere. Make sure chip has latest BIOS version Did you try and seat your chip -- may have to remove MB first to support it -- lets not crack the board

Yes they do sell those types of tools & you need the correct bios code and adapters -- still much cheaper to buy the flashed chip for a one off issue like yours. What did EVGA support say ?

Refer to Award BIOS Recovery for recovering from a bad flash from a Floppy and get all the Windows 98 Boot Disk Contents (or from someplace else) to put on the Floppy if you have PC's with a Floppy to create it (ha). OR Download the E175SZ1K BIOS package for your board from EVGA Downloads..Extract the .zip file (7-Zip free, whatever), open the newly created [BOOT] folder and extract the Boot-1.44M.img, edit the AUTOEXEC using the DOS command line switches as shown in the first link above for your BIOS (the limit for the BIOS filename before the .bin extension is 8 numbers/letters): @ECHO OFF @AWDFLASH E175SZ1K.bin /cc /py /sn /r Burn the AUTOEXEC, AWDFLASH, COMMAND and the E175SZ1K.bin to a CD-ROM..Disconnect all drives except the CD-ROM to (hopefully) boot from the CD-ROM and follow the on-screen promps that will hopefully appear. Flashing from rewritable CD, you might need to edit the AUTOEXEC.bat after you burn the BIOS package\[BOOT]\Boot-1.44M.img to disk, I forget. Shot in the dark..You can try those two methods and hope for the best, but I would sacrifice a newborn calf to appease the BIOS gods first..Otherwise, you need to get another BIOS chip, put your BIOS chip in another 750i to flash it, or reprogram your BIOS chip with a programmer..Good luck.

I can't get that far. It halts looking for a floppy. I think I'll just change chip and battery. If only I had another 750
