I'm a "senior" PC gamer ... meaning over 70 and need some help please. I've tried every dang keyboard and mouse combination I can think of and have yet to find out how to mark targets (and no mention whatsoever in the game menu keyboard assignments). For example, in the early going there's a sequence where a friendly attack helicopter is prompting me to mark targets and nothing I try works. I thought it would be with the binoculars but if it is I haven't found the correct key or mouse button while in binocular view. And every Google search so far relates to console controllers and no help for me. ??

I have a similar problem picking up weapons in the single player campaign mode...I thought it was the "Interact" button, i have mapped to the enter button.
When i come across a weapon to pick up, the text above the weapon says "press to pick up", without saying which button to press.
"Q" key is the default spot key, i have it mapped to my right control key.
I have found that Dice's key coding can be spotty at best, as i have my enter button coded to "enter vehicles/exit vehicles" and "Interact", and half the times one or the other works, but rarely do they work as i have them set up.

Explain the action I should be doing when pressing the Q key to mark a target....do you mean while aiming down the sights at a target and then press Q?

Nope... at least it didn't work for me. Tried E, F, RMB, space bar...mashed every key on the KB and still nothing...thus my reason for coming here....totally confused with this console port to PC...

I'm going to get back into the game and try resetting the default keyboard scheme, then try F in combination with looking down the sights, etc. Just beats me why there isn't a "Mark Target" designated key in the PC game KB assignment listings...but I digress, it IS after all a console port.

Q is the default to spot enemies. Not sure why yours isn't Q. Go to the settings, and bind the keyboard keys to your liking.

Thanks for the reply. I would bind the function to another key but the problem is there is no "Mark Target" listing in the PC single player/campaign default KB listings, nor is there a "Q" for any of the listed functions that I've found in any of the menu categories. If it's there I sure would appreciate a where...

I wish I could help, but I know exactly what he's talking about because I had the same problem. I could not figure out what to hit and hitting the spot key didn't seem to work. And keep in mind that he's talking about the Single Player game where you move forward with your squad and your squad support and chopper (or tank or whatever) can hit targets for you but you have to point them out. I believe that it might just be that you have to press the key for longer than a single click - I simply don't remember. I have it tied to my middle mouse button and I swear it seems like I have to press and hold it for a extra second for the single player spotting to work.

Finally figured it out. Pressing and holding the Q key brings up the binoculars to locate the bad guys and when the Q key is released you're back to normal view but the bad guys now have red marker identifiers over their heads so you can see where they are even if hidden.
Tapping the Q key marks each of the bad guys with a reticle for the squad (or tank or helo) to attack. What is/was frustrating is as important as the Q key is for this purpose you wont find it listed the PC game single player KB function listings. There may have been a in-game screen prompt noting how to mark targets early on in the game but if there was I missed it.
Many thanks to all for the replies which collectively helped me stay focused on the Q key to finally figure this out...

hit q then pan around, enemies will get highlighted. then let go of q and tap q again to mark. they will get owned by the chopper.

For those that can't figure out why it still doesn't work while holding Q. Your zoom/aim button can't be toggled, it has to be set to hold. I can't stand it set to hold, so I would have to remap the key each time.

Yes this is correct. i was stuck on the beach in single player campaign, tank kept asking for targets, and no Q presses or holds or any combo did squat. I always change aim/zoom from click to hold in all games, but in this game nothing you do in the beach with that AA works unless you change aim/zoom from click to hold.
