there are errors that cannot be detected by stress tests, also IMC's are very complex and they can override timings. try for yourself. have 2 overclocks - 1) following the rules 2) going as low as u can set it in bios. see which one performs better. (some benchmarks like superpie/gb5 etc can scale with timings that are against the rules because of the way they handle memory access, notably TRAS)

Thanks for the advice.
So far I haven't found any errors. I tested every program I use / MEMTEST/TM5 /AIDA.
Evething is good performance for me
Everyone has a different overclocking technique,
I respect and learned every technique. Then adapt the technique to be used as my own.

thanks for this, i'm still running 1.09, but i appreciate the work y'all do on the bios team. looking forward to 13900K/S

irrc 1.12+ better 1t support right?

i don't remember all the changes but i know i had worse performance w 1.10 and then switching to KS i had other weirdness so instead of fighting that i just went back to what worked since i'm only running benches on this board anyway. i've been doing other things (gpu, legacy gpu, rkl for team cup) and haven't been back to tuning mems on dark once i found tight 7000 C30 1T stable.

a die arrived yesterday so i'll be back at it this week. i'll give that a shot for sure, thanks!

Thk bro.

Can you tell when the BIOS will update again?
I want to test new official BIOS.  haha

no, tY! for all ur contributions on this thread.

can't wait to see if "SK-hynix HMCG78MEBUA081N" is available and if it gets some reviews soon.

added a Folder, ready for Articles and reviews, on my Data Drive:
"Hardware\Memory\DDR5\Hynix\SK-hynix HMCG78MEBUA081N"

there was a lull in Updates before the v2.0s started coming out; but i bet they wanted to get them perfect as could be; and all the craziness the past two weeks must not have helped.

installed the beta 2.0 bios def better, they added tvb support, power down mode, and fixed a couple of timing range. and training behavior changed, and training consistency improved. also able to boot 200mhz higher than prev bios.

Are we going to see PCIE 5.0 NVME support on the Z690 like we do with the new Dark Z790? I mean we have 2x 16x slots that should support bifurcation. I have an Asus PCIE card from my Hero board that supports PCIE 5.0 drives, and I'm sure we will see other similar cards from various brands eventually. Is EVGA going to release a BIOS to support this or do they already on the Z690?

What's with the new RAM speed support of up to 7200 on 4 DIMM boards? Is that due to BIOS magic or Raptor Lake IMC improvements? My Z690 Classified 1.15 BIOS has a literal hard lock at the 6200MT (3100Mhz) mark. As in, base clock goes up 1 tick (6199.5MT to 6200MT) and it's instability bonanza. Tempted to try this 2.0 beta BIOS regardless to find out.

You probably should have started a new thread for this to get more attention.
But I'm interested in the responses because I would have thought the socket orientation doesn't matter.
The mounting holes are square and the cold plate is square.
You should be able to mount it in whatever position you want based on you're tubing runs and esthetics.

I will need to know the correct answer myself.

EDIT: EK made a video to answer our question.
On Intel 1700 socket any orientation is possible. So therefore orientation of the socket is irrelevant. But not for AMD.

Can we get better A-Die support on Z690 Dark? Maybe some OC profiles eventually as well.

I sure hope this will be possible on z690 dark with the new A die DDR5.

I'm running two A-die kits on my Z690 Dark with 2.00 BIOS and 12900KS. I feel like really pushing higher clocks on them is going to require better BIOS since I'm seeing better results on other brands currently. I'm still within my return window on this Dark to Amazon and honestly since I haven't seen anything from EVGA on PCIE 5.0 NVME support via the second x16 slot I might just return it and go with something else. Z790 will likely have better DDR5 clocking and support while they let this platform wither.

Tried the beta BIOS, no better memory overclocking with 12th gen CPU than 1.15. Overall there's a regression from 1.15 but tRFCpb is available as a timing now. yay. Also another setting called Atom PLL likely for E cores.

can you share your settings? I haven't tested dark w my a die kit yet but it flies on z690 apex in the few days I had with it. Not sure i'll get to dark this weekend as I have x670e gene and 7950X on my bench now. zen4 doesn't seem to care about a die, m die is perfectly fine. tight sub 6400 C30 zoomin (dom plats 6600 bin)

a die wants more volts. so forget what you know about m die tuning wrt voltages and start up around 1.68-1.7 vdd/q until you find the frequency you are happy with, stabilize, reduce volts from there. i think i'm running 1.69 vdd/1.67 vddq if that helps at all, but again, apex not dark. GL

if you don't mind waiting a couple of months, i would almost guarantee the z790 dark will eclipse the z690 especially when it comes to mem oc and of course 13th gen

skip the network connect step, and then update the NIC drivers in windows.

i asked pharitthanun to add his memory info to his sig. his 1st post on this thread is:
https://forums.evga.com/BETA-BIOS-Updates-for-Z690-DARK-KNGPN-200-CLASSIFIED-200-m3574539.aspx#3577398

pharitthanun's sig includes:
> Physical Memory: DDR5 32GB bus5600 Green PCB A die hynix (OC: 7800 CL32)
Physical Memory Model :SK-hynix HMCG78MEBUA081N

i was amazed that pharitthanun is running it at 7800MHz(?)

so now the correct thing to do for the sake of others wanting to purchase it or the equivalent; ram with the same IC; is to google and research it. and hopefully they share their findings on a new thread... hint hint... plz plz!

i'm contemplating upgrading my RAM and my CPU = under $1,000, rather than getting a 4090, and a new PSU, AND a new Case= more than $2300.

get the new 6800+ gskill kits, those will be ADIE. best MDIE kit on the market currently is 6600 c34 gskill ones.
