I've got a DG-86 case running unraid and will soon be reaching the limits for hdds in the rear. I don't run any liquid cooling and was wondering if anyone has seen any mods or know of aftermarket hdd cages that could be modded into the empty space in the front?

If you need that much storage then consider buying a 2 or 4 bay NAS.

Unraid is my NAS. I was thinking more along the lines of 8-10 additional drives.

SSDs aren't gonna cut it, I'm talking 10tb platter drives.

On ebay I've seen lots of HDD cages. So you would need to find one in the correct size to fit. If you want it welded in the PC case then find a welder willing to be this for you.

Yes and you are asking about 8 to 10 Drives.

That icydock looks very good but I think the size wouldn't fit in the PC case he has.

Well the case has support for up to 12 Drives and has Zero 5.25 Drive Bays and the OP wants to add 8-10 More Drives.

Maybe the smaller one, they have different sizes to pick from.

I used a 4 and a 6 bay NAS/raid case   and placed them on TOP of my DG case ( cools them nice during a rebuild)
The Z270 supports Thunderbolt and one bay unit comes from OWC.

Only tried 10 TB WD red once and they were $250 each.

    -----
I too duct tape SSD's inside  my case :-)
