I hope this isn't the new normal for video card prices. Crypto miners resulting in GPU's going above MSRP is atrocious.

One would think that with a large market mining they will eventually will make cards just for thst and then they will leave are gaming cards alone.

They want Gamer Versions in case their market crashes and they sell them on the open market to gamers. If they buy mining only editions(which exist by the way) they lose out on potential revenue from resale of GFX cards. Also mining cards have terrible warranties and come with limited options.

The GTX 1080 ti does NOT have much demand from cryptocoin miners, nor has the pricing gone up much on it at ALL this year. Any price rise would be due to the rise in MEMORY pricing.
The GTX 1070 ti is fairly popular due to it having the highest efficiency on some specific coins (specifically including ZEC).
The GTX 1070 is fairly popular due to it being a fairly-good ETH mining and general all-around mining effectiveness, but it's popularity dropped a LOT when AMD card pricing dropped back down OUT of the same range killing the ETH demand for 1070 cards.
The GTX 1060 is popular due to it being a fairly-good ETH mining card at a "competes with AMD on price per hash" level, as long as AMD card pricing stays elevated much at all.
The GTX 1080 isn't generally popular due to being less efficient and cost effective overall than most mining options.
 
 For perspective - there are more GPUs mining ETH than ALL OTHER CRYPTOCOINS COMBINED - with ZEC being in second at about a THIRD as many cards (ZEC is a lot friendlier to NVidia mining than ETH is).
 Last time I ran my "estimated GPUs in use" figures, it came out to MORE THAN 3 million GPUs mining ETH (probably closer to 4 million by now) with ZEC at PERHAPS 1 million GPUs and nothing else even close to 500K.
 
 ETH is also predominantly AMD, as AMD cards offer more hash/$ when not MASSIVELY GOUGE PRICED than anything NVidia except PERHAPS the 1060.
 
 Some mining version cards ARE in fact available (some of the time at least) in the US - Sapphire in specific sells ALL of it's "mining-specific" cards through Newegg, among other sources.
 The down side to them is they have a limited resale market if mining collapses again (most have no video connector at ALL, a few have a DVI connector only) - they're viable for 2'nd card in a SLI / Crossfire / DirectX 12 / Vulcan setup, but lack of commonly-used video connectors limits their resale to non-miners a LOT.
 Also, mining-specific cards have ALSO been in short supply - often they have been MORE OFTEN sold out than non-mining cards where they ARE available.
 

Once you factor in EVGA shipping costs, Newegg is USUALLY cheaper.
Academic point right now though, as prices went through the roof across the board in the last 48 hours - AMD high-end Polaris cards are now BACK into 1070 territory for the first time in months, 1070 pushed into 1070 ti territory and starting to threaten 1080 pricing, and availability across the board VERY LOW on the NVidia side.
 
 I'm starting to wonder if Volta isn't far off at all, and if Nvidia has started ramping down high-end Pascal GPU production to start up high-end Volta production - only to get hit with an unexpected demand spike right at the worst possible time of year (post-Christmas when stocks tend to be low ANYWAY).
 
 
 It's .... interesting .... to note how many models EVGA is out of stock on.

If you haven't followed any blogs like Jayz2Cents, right now a Volta card which is horrible at gaming cost's $2500 and his last advice was if you NEED it now buy it now. Otherwise he says most new GPU's show up at Computex in April or May.

EVGA is completely sold out of 1080 Ti anything. Newegg is sold out of 1080 Ti anything (only ~4 third party sellers have cards, and they start at $1200). Looks like miners have decided to start buying everything. The cheapest 1080 Ti on Amazon is now $950. If someone wants a $800 1080 Ti they have to buy one off ebay now.  
 
I would really like to know why NVIDIA and AMD don't appear to be increasing the production of GPUs to meet this demand. Mining has been grossly inflating GPU prices for the past year, now the only card not affected is the Titan V.  

Here's what I've noticed after monitoring both Amazon and Newegg these last few months. There are a few 3rd party sellers which I won't name who's stock increases as Amazon/Newegg's decreases. It's more difficult to track Newegg since they don't publish "XX left in stock, order soon" but on Amazon it's quite easy. You'll see Amazon get a shipment and as an example it'll say "13 left in stock, order soon" and that 3rd party will list it as "1 left in stock, order soon". Within hours Amazon will be completely sold out and that specific 3rd party reseller will then show an increase of almost Amazon's previous number. Like I said it's more difficult to monitor exactly on Newegg but there are 2 3rd party sellers who will have no inventory on a specific card(s) yet the moment Newegg resupplies and promptly sells out, one of those two resellers will suddenly have inventory.
 
A bigger problem there is I have a friend who's fighting with Asus because he purchased from a Newegg reseller and Asus is saying no warranty due to purchasing from an unauthorized dealer.

As anyone has already seen, third party sellers are asking absurd, obnoxious prices for their piddling stock of ti’s... $1200 is the minimum

Given the current prices, Nvidia does not care about the 1080 ti line or it gpu partners. In fact, if you go to their gpu cloud site, only Titan Xp and up are supported for their AI software.

It you want a high end card, I’m guessing you will be waiting a long time for the next 1080 ti to come back in stock.

The new price is $1200 direct from Nvidia in the form of the Titan Xp.

The partner manufacturers are screwed. Nvidia knows full well the market price for this chip and they are going to keep it for themselves.

Partners such as evga will file lawsuits, but I’m sure there are enough caveats that will make their pleas worthless.

Tbought.. pretty soon they will figure out how to use the Xbox one x to mine. Hell it's got a 980ti I hear or equivalent?

It has a fully enabled Polaris 10 GPU from AMD with 2560 cores. It's roughly on par with a AMD RX580 in terms of performance.

I wanted to buy an SC2 1070 , because Amazon sold out in 1 hour  , I  phoned Sales Department before Christmas and a "polite gentleman" said to me if it is out of stock means we dont have any.  Thanks EVGA , you have clever employees.  
 
I wonder EVGA Couldnt take any processors from NVIDIA since then?  In That time we could find SC and SC Black , FTW   but now everthing is out of stock in US-CANADA thanks to Zcash , Ethereum Miners.

Another thing worth mentioning is it's also affecting power supply inventory on the upper end. I've been trying to order a Corsair AX1200i or EVGA 1200P2 and haven't been successful for quite a while. Even those who say "in stock" don't have them as I placed orders with both Newegg and B&H with both being cancelled.
