My pc started up and none of the USB ports work all of the sudden. First thing i tried reset pc. Same thing on next boot.

So i cleared cmos. Bad idea... now its stuck at the cmos screen saying press f1 or f12. No keyboards work, i even tried to plug one into usb 2.0 spot on mobo still nothing. And there is no old ps2 port on mobo.

If anyone has any ideas please share with me!

Mobo - evga z270 ftwk
Psu - evga 850 G3
Cooler - evga 240 clc
Case - evga dg-77
GPU - evga gtx 980ti SSC
CPU - i7 6700k

Yes tried 2 different wired keyboards. There is no USB 2.0 on the io panel. All 3.0 and one red SS 10. The only usb 2.0 is the bottom of the mobo. I hooked up usb 2.0 hub to that and tried, keyboard lights up but dosen't work when i press keys.

No they are wired keyboards. Razer blackwidow chroma, and a cheap ibuypower Mek keyboard.

My Suggestion is to turn off the PC and disconnect from the mains then take the battery out of the motherboard and also at the same time check all the connections to the usbs.

At this point I would start the RMA process with EVGA.  Maybe tech support will have an idea you can try other than what was mentioned in your thread.  I suspect something has failed on your board.

We they are both RGB KB, do you have a standard KB to test with?

Looks like he gave that a shot BCav... It lit up his keyboard, but still a no go.

The same thing happened to a co-worker of mine with his PC. Apparently the last windows 10 update that came out Feb 13 2018 is the reason for the USB drivers not working. He had a ps2 port though. He had to format and reinstall to fix.

When i get home from work Im going to pull the ssd from my other pc with the os on it and try to boot from that older version of windows 10. If it works i will just fomat my current drive and reinstall windows. If not than ill have to try RMA.

This would be about the time I plugged in my USB stick with the copy of memtest and see if that boots.
When things fail try not to do too many different things at once.
 
Test with a second power supply
 
setting the BIOS sw to another position ok BUT save resetting BIOS much later in looking for the problem
 
 

Glad to hear it worked. Really odd though that even in the bios it didn't see the keyboard and that a chipset driver fixed the issue. I don't understand how that would fix anything other then in Windows but glad to hear it's working.

I'm thinking that the tab he moved out of the way in that USB port he mentions may have been touching something causing the issue??  Like some kind of short possibly.  Without seeing where this tab was though, it's just a guess or hunch.

Just for info purposes if you completely reset your CMOS/BIOs your system boot may not work so make sure to reset the boot order if you ever do this. Sometimes the BIOs can figure things out but sometimes not.

Well the problem has returned. No 3.0 USB ports work again. They have power, they will light up my mix amp, and charge my phone, but no drivers.

Only the 3.1 USB port works. It runs on ASMedia USB Root Hub and ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller
Things I have tried so far:
- update driver
- uninstall driver
- reinstall chipset
- google
- reset cmos
- pull battery unplug from power hold power button for 30sec
- unplug power cord for 30 min
- reinstall windows (keep my files)
- reinstall windows complete drive wipe (from the drive itself, maybe need a fresh boot drive full install?)
- boot from a fresh windows 10 boot drive USB cd/dvd
- cry
- buy a 40 dollar USB 3.0 hub to connect to the one working 3.1 port (the hub works well)
- change power management settings to NOT allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
- turned off quick start in windows
 
I'm going to try to call EVGA on Thursday my day off and see if they know any fixes. 
From all the recent results on google from the last month when searching the issue it seems the last windows update is very buggy with USB 3.0 drivers
 
 

EVGA accepted my RMA request so im gonna send it in. Ill let you guys know the results when i install the new board. In like 3 weeks lol

maddd dopee board man, back to that master postcode stuff.
