About two weeks ago I gave this system two nice upgrades!

First I upgraded the graphics card to the following:

Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6800 XT Special Edition PCi-E 16GB 256Bit GDDR6 + 128MB L3 Infinity Cache.

Secondly a new PSU, because the 12.5 year old one's capacitor could not handle high peak wattage under varied workloads due to aging.
The new PSU is this one:

Seasonic Focus GX 850 Gold EPS12V+24V PSU with 10 year warranty with 24/7 service.

And here the system fully upgraded after mounting the PSU and applying proper cable management for a neat clean build result and yes I did it all myself:

Here the system with the lights on

System name & Specs:

--------------------------------------
Valkyrie 2022

1x 12 Core AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
1x Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4
Noctua NF-12 PWM , an extra 120mil fan for the CPU cooler
Gigabyte Aorus B550 Elite AX V2 for Socket AM4
4x 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB RT 32GB PC4-28800 aka DDR4-3600
Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6800 XT Special Edition PCI-E 16GB 256Bit GDDR6
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X AE-5 Plus Dedicated sound card for Music, Films, Series & Games
Realtek ALC-1200 for Sennheiser PC-360 G4ME Headset
Corsair Force3 240GB SSD as main boot disk
Micron Crucial MX500 2TB SSD as game disk
Plextor PX-950SA BluRay RW Drive for Single & Dual Layer BR disk
Lian Li TYR PC-X2000B + Lian Li W-X2000B Window kit both 1 of 200 made worldwide
SeaSonic Focus GX 850 Gold EPS 12V + 24V PSU
iiyama Red Eagle G-Master GB2770QSU-B1 27" IPS panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio for a max native Reso of 2560x1440x32 @ 165Hz

Win10 Pro x64 UK 22H2
AMD Adrenalin 23.4.1 WHQL
--------------------------------------

Here two nice closeups of the Sapphire Nitro+ Wolf logo, I made these without the flasher, took a while to get the perfect shots:

On April 27  which was King's Day the celebration of the Dutch King's 56th birth year, I set the RGB colors to color code: @FF3800, which is the correct Orange color for the Dutch Royal Family's House Colors:

And there you have it

Hey many thanks, it took me roughly 3 days to get it all neatly sorted, first i mounted the PSU to test it  then I removed all cables and re did everything o make it as neat as possible
The Lian Li TYR PC-X2000B isn't the easiest case to cable mange in, but I guess it turned out alright after all them spent in hours

Always missing the old days man, I am trying to rebuild my collection, as for the GTX 295 RE's I had I sold them some time back to a friend of mine he was trying to see if he could fix the save card but it seems that not only the NF200 was busted but something with the power relay on the card as well, it was beyond his skill and knowledge to fix it sadly.

But yea man, I too will miss new EVGA graphics card model posts that were made by Jacob or one of you guys, always hoping they will make graphics cards again even if it were from AMD, Intel or even NVIDIA again in the future, Graphics cards was EVGA's main purpose now that part is missing, yea I can see how that can be painful for some, as forums go the EVGA forums will always be my amongst favorites and I still recommend people to visit this place, since you guys  have always been friendly and super helpful with an array of things.

Anyways I'll try to be on here a bit more, even I am more of a Radeon user, I just truly respect everyone's choices, kinda strange how some try to make a deal out of that, I never saw the point in that really.
They are just graphics cars in the end right xD
It doesn't matter what one uses, as  long they are happy on what they use for their gaming needs or other type of things, 3dfx will always be my favorite anyways

Hey many thanks and it's a RX 6800 XT btw the RX 6800 is a  different card lesser ALU's RX 6800 has 3840 RDNA 2 ALU's as where the RX 6800 XT has 4608 RDNA 2 ALU's  the RX 6900 XT & RX 6950 XT they have 5120 RNDA 2 ALU's.
ALU stands for Arithmetic Logic Unit just for those wondering, theya re also referred as Stream Processors, NVIDIA uses CUDA cores in a similar way

The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6800 XT Special Edition  was a massive leap forward compared to my Sapphire Nitro+ RX Vega 64, in some game sI get 5.4x the performance in crease but on an average it's about 3x faster, I am curious tos ee what we will have in 6 years from now, such upgrade leaps make it so much more worth doing as well and it's fun too

Here the Nitro+ RX 6800 XT SE compared to my Nitro+ RX Vega 64, cards are the same size but the Nitro+ Vega 64 weighs like 50% more than the Nitro+ RX 6800 XT SE, which pretty crazy as that goes.

Pardon me, Gold Leader .  I know very little about AMD cards, so I did a little reading on that model ( RX 6800 XT ) .  Very nice card indeed .
In 6 years I'm betting on hologram generators ;)

oh, it's fine, it's I had well over 800+ graphics cards since 1988, i know em all to their tiniest of details, cards from 3dfx, Matrox, NVIDIA, S3 & ATi/AMD are my absolute favorites, even so with AMD & NVIDIA I did have some troublesome experiences, worst from NVIDIA was the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2, the older cards were miles better imo and the worst ATi/AMD experience was with the HD 2900 XT 512MB's in CFX, just drivers being a major chore  rofl, both AMD & NVIDIA gave me more issues after 2012 than during the 1990's and to mid 2012.
So after 2012 both AMD & NVIDIA gave me strife experiences, even so I never gave up and over time they both improved a huge lot as where we are now

But man I did love the SLI & CFX days, all when multi GPU was the biggest thing out there, kind of missing that these days, as it's kind of boring these days only with one GPU in a PC,as if technology took a downward dive in to a deep dark void.
would be nice to see SLI or CFX make a comeback but in a more modernized way maybe? heh that are my hopes rofl.

You can see my private gallery here of my best cards, not all 800 are in there but still a good 250 a 300 cards are in there

Nice upgrade! I had to stop using a stubby case like that last year. I had the Thermaltake Mozart TX case that I couldn't deal with anymore for the same reason you mentioned..cabling.

How on earth have you gone over 800 video cards?

     Gold Leader;
I spent some time looking at your gallery .  It's pretty darn nice .  Good idea to take pictures of them .
Myself, I've only had seven video cards over the years, my two earliest computers had integrated graphics .
I had: Asus GeForce 8600GT Silent, Nvidia GTX 560ti, PNY GTX 1050, EVGA GTX 1060, EVGA GTX 1080,
EVGA RTX 3080 XC3 Ultra, and EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra .  Still have them all except the ASUS Silent .
It burned up on me :(   Last time I ever bought a passively cooled vid. card .  I still use the last three .
I also have a small computer museum; starting with my second hand Commodore 128 :)   Six machines .

P.S. my 3090FTW3 is Nvidia SLI ready, so maybe SLI will make a comeback with computer enthusiasts

I used to buy even thing that came out also collected a ton of them, here my gallery of all my best cards roughly 180+ cards pictured as my best cards go cards pictured still, I collected cards since 1996, but theyw ere all dated from 1988 to current, as I have started again, some addictions are too hard to let go of.
    https://www.3dfx.ch/gallery/index.php/3dfx_collectors/collector_goldleader/prevgas

Yea seen a lot used a lot  collected a lot, all gone those are mainly due to depressions or meeting the wrong people that are basically there for the money and not the hardware,  about 10 years after 2011, I started again as where I am now.
it's impossible to literally replacing everything but most here at EVGA seen what I posted over the years.

Since 2013 I have become owner of the official x-3dfx community we are still quite active  , people posting new 3dfxrebuiilds day in day out yea our goal is to keep 3dfx alive, and at a time I will share my retro builds here as well.
And also sharing the passions for all graphics cards not just 3dfx, ATi/AMD NVIDIA or  Matrox but all, moire variety that way!

There are plenty of games that support SLI if using it for them just enable max FSAA & AF + Super Sampling to make the cards run are more optimal speeds and so they are not to fast, Super sampled Rotated Grid FSAA is the 3dfx method it's the most taxing for your hardware but for all the SLI Supported games this is the best way to run them for the best image quality settings but also slowing down the super fast cards you are using, the same goes for CrossFireX setups  use Max FSAA & AF  if you want to get the most out of the new gen cards if playing games that have either CFX or SLI support.

As Quad SLI goes my best experience was with the 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 the card I bought from ex-3dfx engineer sir Hank Semenec, which is this beauty:

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 + Late Voodoo Volts
With Internal Power Hookup by Gary Donovan & PCI Rework by ex-3dfx Engineer Sir Hank Semenec

Here the used test system at the time from 2005 to around 2009 for the Voodoo5 6000:

    AthlonXP 2700+ @ 2167Mhz, 256KB L2  Cache.
EPoX EP-8K3A+, VIA Apollo KT333 Chipset
    3x 512MB PC3200 CL2 Kingston Hyper X @ PC2700
3dfx Voodoo5 6000 AGP 128MB Rev.A 3700 + Internal Power Hookup by Gary Donovan & PCI Rework by ex-3dfx Engineer Sir Hank Semenec
Creative SB Audigy 2 Platinum with the latest Win2K/XP drivers.
Seagate Barracuda V 120GB 7200 rpm Main HDD
Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB 7200 rpm game disk
    Intel Pro 100S Server Adapter
NEC 5 Port USB 2.0 PCI Card

AmigaMerlin 31. R 11 for Win2K Pro/XP Pro for all round purpose workloads.
SFFT Alpha 41 modified by ps47 & myself for Descent 1&2 + DXX Rebirth 0.58.1, this driver added OpenGL ES 1.2 Support which was needed to get DXX-Rebirth 0.58.1 working.
Latest WHQL 3dfx Tools for Win2K/XP
Windows 2000 Professional USA + Service Pack 4 + Roll Up 1 for Service Pack 4
    Direct9.0c August 2007.

Somethings are hard to forget left alone hard to replace, just a tip of mine never sell anything of what is to you a great value, because at times money cant replace such things, money is a common item a Voodoo5 6000 in  that perspective is not, especially the 100% Voodoo5 6000 + Voodoo Volts set I got from Hank himself, also why I am trying to rebuild somethings I had, even though I know clearly that most things won't ever return, the photo's in my gallery are all the evidence I have from those golden days.
Always missing the good old days, hard to replace.

The Voodoo5 6000 was ans still is the holy grail of all 3dfx graphics cards , all that despite being an Engineering Sample only as well, 3dfx Quad SLI on a single PCB, was quite something for year 2000, playing with that card was a fantastic experience, the card I use now is a pc flashed 3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900, the DVI-D also works it's been through a good 9r reworks to get it working again, basically it's a prototype again due to some parts you will never come across on any other V5 out there stand alone.
    Backfire's Repairs & Reworks:

    01. Renewed Ceramic SMD's on the rear
    02. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the main VSA-100 Graphics Chip
    03. Renewed Heatsinks & Fans for the VSA's topside
    04. Renewed Power Supply Controller Chips
    05. Fixed the IC U510 Chip's pins
    06. Replaced 4x TSOP-86
    07. 6ns Hynix VRAM renewal for the slave VSA-100 Graphics Chip

    SWZSSR's friend's Recap & Modifications:

    01. Full Polymer Recap
    02. Burnt Copper Heatsinks for the VSA's rear side

    Here the card:

    3dfx Voodoo5 5500 PCI Macintosh 64MB Rev.A1 2900

But hey as production V5 boards go it won' get much better than this V5 PCI mac, I did put some good coin in to it to get it as it is now, but it runs like a dream, as if it was a new card, even it's almost 23 years old it's self, yea all worth it.
