Look at that power section and Sound Card.
Memory Max 32GB 4133MHz(OC)
Some Supreme FX Impact III.
USB 3.1 A+C Type,
U.2 connector up to 32Gb/s,

Little poison. They forgot SATA Express and second PCI-E slot.
I'm glad because ROG cross on dark side, I mean black...
Only in next generation to replace red with silver and to launch mATX in Xtreme section.
Nothing different than Gene VIII, same only for Extreme.

Very nice looking! One thing I've noticed lately is how high end boards are no longer going past the 300+ dollar mark. Makes building on a budget much easier now.

Yes, but this year ASUS increase price of motherboards.
Hero VIII enter on position of Maximus Formula, Ranger on Hero VII price range and Impact is for 60-70$ more than Impact VI and Impact VII.
But if you ask me I would pay 50$ more for Impact than Stinger. Difference is USB 3.1, Bluetooth, almost dedicate Sound Card, U.2 capable to keep Intel 750 SSD. That functions are more than difference between mid range and high end motherboard. Supreme FX is not exactly class of some 120-150$ worth sound card but it's pure gaming card with very strong gaming effect as explosions, shooting, etc and you definitely can notice where is enemy example. On normal onboard solution you can't .

And some motherboards will be far over 300...
    Example Maximus VIII Extreme...

I didn't saw real price but only flaw for that motherboard is 4 core Intel because she have everything.
And SATA Express, M.2, U.2, USB 3.1, Supreme FX, and who knows what else with almost 10 different buttons...
If she cost 400e that would be still far bellow EVGA Z170 Classified, for almost 100e... because EVGA think that idiots live in Europe.
Off course in USA price of them will be similar probably.

To be honest I'd only go with Asus no matter the price. Only company out there that offers real good options. Most other companies I can't get behind their choices.

I don't look even MSI, GIGABYTE, ASRock, if I catch something during listing pages for new things OK, but to go for information to search No.
Every expert know that best people in their jobs work for them and people who write UEFI and smartest and most intelligent engineers with biggest innovation. Others only follow them and copy > paste, copy > paste, copy > paste... GIGABYTE Z170 is copy of ASUS X99 example...
ASRock stole them diamond shapes, MSI I don't want even to talk about that.
I thought soon to upgrade maybe and on ASUS 980Ti Poseidon because it's easy to connect with EKWB Predator, I don't need to pay waterblock.
But I'm closer to Fury X because bad experience with EVGA and that's GeForce.

I'm buying this as soon as I can here for my HTPC build.
It's overboard but it's got options that I want
I don't like the MSI,Gigabyte or ASrock offerings

If you decide to go with Mini ITX than OK.
One thing is not logic, this board with smaller size and less material cost more than Maximus VIII Gene and for me that's best Z170 option on market. Or Hero, really no reason investing in Extreme for chipset and they update on new for 10 months. Such price are always best to keep if build Xtreme Intel.

ASUS give almost everything on this motherboard as on Maximus VIII Gene, Mini ITX board but no missed features compare to bigger boards except SATA Express and more PCI-E slot. We know some other Z170 Mini ITX board no even normal Sound Card(all sound like come from same place and same distance) no single USB 3.1 Port don't even to talk about two types of USB 3.1, half dedicate sound card, Bluetooth v4.1 and special not some U.2 with fastest possible transfer at this moment.
If you have U.2 you can use Intel 750 NVMe. Bluetooth on R5E saved me because I didn't have cable to connect cell phone to PC  and I use Bluetooth to transfer some video about my unstable graphic card.
Instantly when you enable on cell phone you got message on computer and if cell phone is good transfer start.

I'm scare little of installation in so small form factor, I like small and powerfull RIG but with easy space to replace something.
You have Rampage 4 Gene, with X99 ASUS didn't launch mATX. But never mind anyway I decide to go with E-ATX.
But for next build Skylake E, not Broadwell my plan is mATX for Extreme.

    ASUS Maximus VIII Impact

    RushKit Unboxing Video

And Z170 King, her majesty... Maximus VIII Extreme!!!

I don't know for you but when I see these extra stuff in box as ROG OC Panel, etc... first what I thought is
They should offer and cheaper option without that. ROG OC Panel cost alone over 100$ and it's part of R5E package,
I would sell him for 100$ immediately or change for waterblock for Fury X.
